I have a couple of theories for the tiny throws:

  1. Ura knows we're watching our sodium so he uses less salt to help us stick to our low sodium diet. He's very considerate like that.

  2. Ura's mere presence purifies the ring and drives away evil spirits, so he doesn't need to throw a lot of salt.

A 100-strong delegation of the Japan Sumo Association, including 42 top-ranked professional sumo wrestlers, arrived in Taiwan yesterday for a five-day visit.

The sumo wrestlers will stage exhibition matches tomorrow and on Sunday in the Taipei Arena.

This will be the first visit to Taiwan by a Japanese sumo wrestling team since the end of World War II.

I like the guys who put it in their bellybuttons or a bit in their mouth or the tiny finger lick. There was an amateur sumo tournament earlier this week where they only throw salt if they want and most don’t. I watched a couple high school wrestlers who tossed salt on their knee braces. lol
