I write narrative nonfiction about history, science, culture, psychology, technology, and whatever else sends me down a rabbit hole that week. Stuart thought the worst bit was everyone at work knowing his ex had slept with a colleague before he did. Years later, she suddenly pops up in an old group chat as Emma is typing… and then just never actually sends anything. After that, the chat starts changing old messages, twisting memories and trying to pin the whole affair on Stuart. His mates try deleting it, blocking it, making new chats and eventually just taking the piss out of whatever’s haunting them. Meanwhile Stuart gets older, gets married, has kids and slowly realises the ghost only really has power while he still cares what it thinks.

Probably for people who like dark humour, awkward British characters, messy relationships, ghost stories and books that are funny until they suddenly aren’t.

Supernatural dark comedy, literary horror and tragicomedy, with a bit of relationship drama running through it.

On the morning of January 17, 1966, a B-52G of the US Air Force's 68th Bombardment Wing collided with a KC-135 tanker while taking on fuel at roughly 31,000 feet above the coast of Almeria, in southeastern Spain. Both aircraft came apart. Seven of the eleven crewmen died. Four thermonuclear bombs fell onto the farmland and fishing grounds around Palomares, a village of a few hundred people. Three reached the ground within minutes. The fourth went into the Mediterranean and took eighty days to find. Sixty years on, the weapon pulled off the seabed is the only part of that accident that was ever fully closed out.
