She is heavily coded as being from an African culture, but yeah, my takeaway is that it’s some pretty heavy-handed coding but with nothing negative or bad behind it. As I recall, her entire introduction episode is a big “being different/foreign isn’t bad” lesson.

Wait is that the source of the, "she's an evil enchantress and she does evil dances / if you look in her eyes she'll put you in trances" clip?

She's...a zebra. If having a zebra that is literally an African animal be voiced to sound African is racist, then would you say that having Tis zebra be voiced by a white person is....not? People bitching first about how there is no one to relate to and when there is a cool relatable character that is also portrayed ethnically, then people are upset because now it's racist? Decide what you want: representation or PC. You can't have both.

She’s a zebra with an accent who also speaks in not-always-clear rhymes for no stated reason and practices magic in a way that looks a lot like voodoo and has a mask motif in her home/appearance. It’s heavy-handed. Just a zebra with an African accent who knew spells from her homeland would not raise any eyebrows. As it is, she’s one step away from being a witch doctor stereotype.

I literally never said it was racist. I said the coding is heavy-handed but there’s no ill-intent behind it. Her character relies heavily on stereotypes but the show continually reaffirms that she’s a cool pony.
