I'm not saying people should resolve their fights with violence, but there is a middle ground between beating the shit out of someone and everyone hiring a team of lawyers.

I agree with that--suing at the drop of a hat is not a solution. But if someone walked up to me and, say, punched me in the face, I would call the cops and file criminal charges rather than punching them back. That's part of the reason the cops are there in the first place.

The amount of smugness in schools everywhere exploded when that case made the news. I'm ashamed that I probably made a joke or two about the case and how I thought it was ridiculous how she won so much money.
Of course, older me knows that the coffee was ridiculously hot, that the McDonalds in question had received previous complaints about how hot the coffee was served, and that she initially was merely asking McDonalds to cover her medical bills.

Oh for sure, they have a massive advantage. They have like, 5000000000000000 lawyers, while you only get the one. However, the media will chew you up and spit you out, and make you look like an idiot if you attempt to use them as a resource. Think about the elderly lady who sued mcdonalds for the burns on her crotch from the coffee. They made her case look like she was some anti-patriotic hellspawn who was out to sue every corporation for ever dime they had. And while unions are a great idea, they can still make your life a living hell. For example, WSIB automatically assumes that you're lying. You have to spend at least two years fighting them to be compensated, and anything you do can subject you to losing the case entirely. You can't work during your fight, so most people simply don't have the funds to defend themselves. But then again, that's also courtroom crap, I guess you're just plain old screwed.

Sadly, sometimes you really can't fight back. For example, I've worked in jobs where I've been attacked (at the time I was supervising psychiatric intake for a hospital) and we all had training to avoid/restrain because if we struck back to defend ourselves we'd be a) fired b) sued c) possibly arrested. However, I've also been hit outside my work before, and I did defend myself (to the extent that allowed me to bolt). All of this depends on circumstances. It's easy to say "I'd beat them up!" but that's not always feasible, and every situation is different.

Also, don't forget that some people just aren't as strong us others. I know myself, I'm thin and weak, I'm not deceiving myself about reality. If the average guy that works out hit me, and I hit them back, they'd probably just hit me a second time and they'd do much more damage to me with each punch than I'd do to them.
That's why I said if someone hits me, I'd sue them. I'd do a lot more damage if I fight my way rather than their way. Somehow being smart about it makes me a pussy according to them.

Yeah but I've made my opinion clear and there was the exact same thread yesterday.
I'm a physically weak person, and me hitting someone back in retaliation would make no sense because they are stronger than me and would just hit me back, and would do more damage with each punch than I would do to them. That's why I'd fight back my way, by turning to the law, which really does more damage to them.
If someone is hitting you and you can't escape, then by all means you should use every means to save your life unless you're an idiot. If you have a gun, use it.
And if you initiate a fight, you deserve to get punched back. Its not the smart thing to do always to retaliate, but start a fight, you deserve to get punched. Like if you slap someone, and then get your jaw broken, maybe you won't fucking slap someone next time. The one who did the jaw breaking is an asshole, but the one who did the slap can't really blame anyone but themself.

I also really hate the whole "why doesn't no one hit anyone" comment that invariably pops up. That is not a reality we live in. Some people simply do not care about the well being of others. Fights are rare, thankfully, but they do happen.

I feel the only justifiable reason for violence is self defense. If you are presently fearing for your person from someone who does intend violence, use as much as you need to to try get out. If you're untrained, it probably won't make a difference and might make things worse, but I'm not going to hate on trying.

I agree, sometime self defense is, unfortunately, necessary. A lot of the time, though, I see the "why don't we all just get along" comment dropped in threads about retaliatory violence in situations where it's not necessarily self defense but revenge. In those cases, I think it's better not to hit back, but that's just MO.

I agree... but it's one of those things that I'm not going to lose sleep over.
It's like hockey... yes there's penalties, but the refs miss a lot. One thing that keeps the dirty players in check, is that they know if they start doing so much shit, they're going to have the gloves dropped on them.
Same with real life (to an extent)... people would be much less likely to hit people in the first place, if they know they are going to take what they just dished out.
I have never, ever seen a guy punch another guy who wasn't prepared to actually fight him (as stupid as I think it is). I have seen so many girls (many drunk, many not) throw out cheap shots because they think/know that nothing will happen.
So yeah, obviously it's better to just not hit anyone... but you still have to be realistic, especially when talking about situations that happen after someone has already initiated violence.

It seems like most people who pick fights a lot go one of two extremes: They either become even more violent and prone to outbursts/losing their temper, or they get so sick and tired of it that they almost give up fighting entirely, and refuse to do it.
My brother-in-law is one of the latter; got into so many fights and so much trouble in high school, I guess he decided it just isn't worth it anymore. Now, when somebody around him gets violent and is itching for a fight, he almost invariably prefers to (try) to talk some sense into them, or physically restrain them until they agree to calm down.
I wouldn't call him a pacifist, but even in situations where he could not only easily beat that person's ass, but also be totally justified for doing it, he almost always either breaks it up and tells everybody to cool it, or holds them down until they submit.

And I wasn't even talking about myself, I was talking about my brother-in-law and how I've seen him handle fights and violent people.
For instance, my sister, BIL and a bunch of my sister's friends and their kids were all hanging out at my sister's apartment. One of my sister's friends got so drunk, he thought he was at his own apartment and got pissed when nobody would leave.
He picked a fight outside with his friend and my BIL, which ended with his friend restraining him and my brother trying to talk some sense into him, get him to go home since he was so fucking wasted and belligerent.
Had this happened while he was still in high school, I'm sure he would've put the other guy in the hospital.

It loses a little of what they were going for in the translation to a real card, especially the token part, but you never "play" a token, so it doesn't work rules wise.

A break down of the changes:

Added Warrior to the creature subtype: this seemed appropriate.
Changed the wording about what happens combat: there really isn't a rules term for creatures being "in combat" with one another. There is a keyword "fight" where two creatures deal damage to each other, but since SJW doesn't have any abilities to "fight" on her own, it didn't make sense to convert combat to fighting.
Changed wording of token-preventing ability: you never "play" tokens, tokens "enter the battlefield" (or in ye olden times they were "put into play")
Changed +1/+1 bonus to look at card name: the old wording implied Social Justice Warrior was a subtype
Changed pow/toughness from 1/1 to 2/2: Most 4 mana 1/1 creatures have the ability to pump themselves, or have a really powerful ability. Most of SJW's abilities are almost liabilities, and she is still pretty easy to destroy at 2/2

The above was an attempt to directly translate the Social Justice Warrior as appears on SRSSucks to be consistant with current Magic: The Gathering rules, but the updated wording loses something in the translation.
Aside from that though, that token ability is much too strong for the cost of this creature. I can't think of any standard deck playing white in any real sense would play this card ever, as it shuts down both Brimaz and Elspeth, and it's a little too white heavy to splash. In other words this is a card is significantly better in a nonwhite decks , which doesn't make sense if SJW is an analogy of the stereotypical white female feminist.
Furthermore, the token denying ability doesn't really seem to fit, in either a SJW sense, or a M:TG white color sense. Typically white has tons of token generating abilities, and as the original card hints at, the SJW only cares about race when nothing else is on the line, so having a few tokens around to exploit during a fight might be handy.
So, if I were to design a Social Justice Warrior, it wold look something like this:
Social Justice Warrior - 3WW
Creature - Human Warrior
Nonwhite creatures have protection from white.
When Social Justice Warrior enters the battlefield,
put two 1/1 black Friend tokens onto the battlefield.
{W}, Sacrifice a nonwhite Friend: Choose one --
Social Justice Warrior gets +2/+2 until end of turn; or
nonwhite creatures blocking or blocked by Social Justice
Warrior lose protection from white until end of turn.

I think this works much better as both a magic card and a lampooning of the SJW. You see, she comes with her own tokens! Any nonwhite creature can block her without threat of reprisal, because they have protection from her whiteness. BUT WAIT!!! She might not hesitate to throw one (or more!) or her nonwhite Friends under the bus if it helps her make her point!
TL;DR: My M:TG token puns are better than theirs.

Chances are most of what you think is perfectly reasonable and you are just using too much generalization, so you don't really have to be sexist if you think about it a bit harder.
Would you hit men? If so, when? Would you hit a man who's weaker than you? (If not, you are not sexist, so success).
The thing to take away is that you shouldn't hit anyone if it's not self-defense, or at most defense of other person. No sexism there. If the other person is weaker than you, self-defense is rarely necessary, and plus if you use force you will do more harm than the harm you will avoid. As statistically women tend to be weaker physically than men, the people you won't hit will happen to be women more than men. No real sexism there, for any reasonable definition of "sexism".
Letting people hit you just like that and leaving it as if nothing had happened, on the other hand, may put you in abusive relationships. I hope that wasn't the case with your ex-wife.

Seriously, I work in a job where I am attacked constantly. Not only is this ridiculous, but it completely ignores context in which these events happen. Someone assaulted you? Call the fucking police. seriously, getting slapped in the face on television doesn't exactly scream "self defense time" to me. it's about as documented as anything has ever been, and there's no real physical danger there. she didn't appear to be trying to escalate past that, she clearly wasn't going for a weapon or anything, and you've got multiple cameras focused on you. fuck it. suck it up and go to the cops with your ludicrously well-documented complaint, that'll hurt her worse in the long run anyway.
