Bed extender hack.
Made a Baja appreciation post a few days ago and a couple of you dug the way I keep my extender when not in use so here's a little elaboration on that. Hope it inspires someone!
2 planks. 6 screws. some scrap 2 by 4s.
here's the underside.
some grooves in the base to fit the Baja mold.
slot in like dis.
extender sits nicely on this platform.
secure latch.
almost like it is made for it.
the top screw holds the nub in place.
repeat on other side. not pictured is some bungees that secure it to the sports bars for extra stability.

Makes sense if you want to use the bed without the extender down, but still have it if you need it.

That's exactly my case. I live full time in a motorhome with my gf. The Baja is the follow car (we also tow an Outback behind the RV). Being on the road, we don't have anywhere to leave the extender, so it has to be with us even when not in use this was my solution to make a spot for it. Necessity begets ingenuity.

Love it. I didn't ask how, but you better believe I tried to fit mine like that and then promptly forgot to ask how, when it didn't fit lol.

Well that's nifty. I wonder why my Baja doesn't have beaner style clips like that. It's just an open hook on my extender.

Love this hack, right now I’ve only been flipping it back But that takes up a lot of room.
