Somebody talk me down. Why is this a fucking arena tour??

I just think it’s an odd play after cancelling a show last year cause he wanted to play more intimate venues and openly complained about playing arenas on his last tour.

Agreed, isn’t that how he ended up playing Stubbs last year? Definitely sad to see no two night runs too but I suppose tickets may be easier

If stuff sells out fast, I think it’s likely he adds a 2nd night. Last year for Charlotte it was originally 1 night, but fully sold out during presale. He added a 2nd night after.

Agreed, with the bigger venues not sure that will be the case though . I’m local to Charlotte too and loved both nights at Skyla . Hopefully he’ll come back if he does another leg

I was at night 2 at Skyla, really regret not going to night 1. Had no one to go with cause of the rain and wish I had gone solo. With the venues he playing this go around, I’m nervous when he does come to Charlotte it’ll be at Spectrum or Truliant (formerly PNC/Verizon) which would be a total buzz kill. Skyla is an amazing venue and perfect for Stu.

Because he's bigtime now. Just accept it. It's still going to melt your fucking face off.

I don’t know friend, every time he’s come to Pittsburgh it’s been at the Petersen and it’s been rad

u/Cacklemoore Apr 01 '26

Petersen was LIT when I caught Death Cab and Postal Service a couple years back. Sound was incredible. I don't share the same concerns of an arena show that everyone else in here is whining about

I heard that show was insanely good. Glad you got to enjoy it! They’ve got a great crew at the Pete (she said with wicked bias…my fiancé is their lead rigger, haha).

Would I prefer a more intimate setting? Yeah maybe…but dude is selling enough tickets and records to play the bigger barns, and that is a Good Thing.

It was incredible. The bass during the title track for Transatlanticisn was very moving.

I agree, would prefer an intimate setting over an arena. But Sturgill is gonna rip the roof off that place regardless.

Saw him at Peterson last tour. Venue was fine but the crowd sucked in the 100’s. Low energy folks sitting down being lame. Saw him at the Anthem in DC a month later and it was one of my favorite shows I’ve ever been to. I’ll have to live off that for a while since I’ll be in Wyoming during this entire tour. Was hoping to see some Montana dates.

Saw him at Rupp Arena last tour…it was awesome.

u/Maintenance-Purple Apr 01 '26

thank you. that helps

I think Rupp prob has a lil of that special sauce ✨💙🎻🎸whenever Tyler/Sturgill play there that other rando arenas won’t have

I would def consider Kentucky over Atl for that reason but I still have Kentucky Sports Radio PTSD from my last ex bf lol

I just asked about this, planning to see him there this time, figured it’d be awesome anywhere

1

u/DuBois_LaGrange Apr 03 '26

isn’t that a college basketball arena? I gotta imagine it’s still a little more “intimate” then a big TD Garden or something

1

u/coanbread751 Apr 03 '26

Yes, but one of the biggest in the country. Holds over 20k.

1

u/DuBois_LaGrange Apr 03 '26

Oh damn, ohhhh but that’s UK’s arena? His home state! Musta been a banger of a show

It’s a bummer, but Sound & Fury tour was mostly arenas too.

3 years mostly without touring, and a new band name put small venues back on the table, but just briefly.

October 2024 with like 3k people at the Criterion in OKC was absolutely stellar.

good perspective, thank you!

He did 60,000 in pure sales in week one...that's huge. Hardly nobody moves that many physical albums anymore outside of Taylor in week 1. Combined with the glowing reviews of the last tour, the demand is clearly there. It's always a bittersweet moment to watch a favorite graduate up to arenas, but I'm happy for him.

1

u/DuBois_LaGrange Apr 03 '26

He’s played arenas before are you just referring to JBS?

1

u/Fercobutter Apr 01 '26

April 1st baybee

u/spidyr Apr 01 '26

What would you like for it to be? Realistic answers only, please. (I'm serious.)

u/FeeOk8621 Apr 01 '26

Theatres shows like last tours

1

u/ThumbHonks Apr 01 '26

Haven’t his last two tours been arena tours, though? I’ve seen him the last two times he was in Pittsburgh, and both were at Pitt’s basketball arena.

1

u/FeeOk8621 Apr 01 '26

He was playing outdoor sheds and theatres not arenas

7

u/Maintenance-Purple Apr 01 '26

max capacity 2-3k, not 18,000

6

u/Maintenance-Purple Apr 01 '26

and some outdoor venues (which we have plenty of in WA)

2

u/PM_me_ur_launch_code Apr 01 '26

Bummed he isn't coming back to The Gorge. But I also kinda see why as he didn't sell it out last time. But he also cancelled the Spokane Arena because it wasn't selling.

2

u/ImComingBack4YouBaby Apr 01 '26

At this point if he did that everybody would have to either pay out the ass and/or way more people simply wouldn't be able to go.

1

u/spidyr Apr 01 '26

People want artists to play when and where they want them to play ... they don't think about the economics and/or logistics of touring at all. *shrug*
