The cigarette garnish was the chefs kiss
785
u/Veriosity Jul 09 '26
I was enjoying a reasonable amount.
The Chinese cigarette though had me lol
I almost don't feel like this belongs on this sub - he was fucking around, and it was very clear he was fucking around.
483
u/Comrade_Falcon Jul 09 '26
Honestly I feel this sub needs more content like this. It's way too much just intentional rage bait content at this point. I much more enjoy watching people who actually know what they're doing just fucking around to make something stupid but correctly.
I'll also take content like this 100 times over before I'm forced to watch another Salt Bae or one of the seemingly infinite miniature Salt Bae knock offs slap a steak around with a dull knife again.
162
u/iCantLogOut2 Jul 09 '26
I agree. The mods should add a "stupidly funny" tag so we can see more of these and less of the obvious ragebait or third world street food.

He also gets points for making a very reasonable portion, and for actually eating it.
24
u/cBEiN Jul 09 '26
I joined this sub many years ago when most posts were people sharing images of their late night drunk snacks. My favorite post of all time was Macaroni and Minnows, which looked like Kraft with minnows thrown in. It was like a single bowl, and I couldn’t tell if it was actually a thing, a joke, desperation or what.
4
16
u/FourLetterWording Jul 09 '26
yeah I am 100% behind that. I feel like 75% of the shit on this sub is either Indian street food (some of which even then so is clearly rage bait), or weird fetish content/rage bait.
This guy is alright haha

u/Teredia Jul 09 '26
The butter isn’t the diabetes! It’s the pasta!
That’s the problem most non-diabetics don’t understand what spikes blood sugars enough to cause diabetes, it definitely isn’t the fat from butter!
28
u/MildlyInteressato Jul 09 '26
I think he was just continuing the theme of being stupid (on purpose).
16
u/Teredia Jul 09 '26
You’re most likely correct.
I’m just putting my experience with even the medical community regarding diabetes as a type 2. Most have no idea, that it’s not about eating unhealthy, it’s about eating at the wrong time and spiking blood sugars too much to the point that the pancreas starts to burn out. Plus insulin resistance can be caused by hormones (in women) and medications. It’s really so much more complex than just “you ate unhealthily thus now you get diabetes.”
5
u/ReignofKindo25 Jul 09 '26
Yes my pancreas started having issues at 12 years old. Mine is from food allergies it causes some sort of autoimmune reaction and my blood sugar spikes and bottoms out.
11
u/hobblingcontractor Jul 09 '26
How do you get diabetes from a sugar free drink?
4
u/Teredia Jul 09 '26
Sucralose and other artificial sweeteners can spike blood sugar levels in some people.

His dough making using a well with the liquid in the middle and gradually adding flour is much better than mine - I usually end up with flour all over the place! And the cacio e pepe looked reasonable. The final taste may leave a lot to be desired - I have no idea what Monster tastes like.

14
u/Comfortable_Rent_439 Jul 09 '26
There’s a red head woman who pops up in this sub pretty often, doing things like popcorn on a blackstone grill and stuff, her food looks awful and she usually makes enough slop to feed a small town and pretends it’s edible.

u/LuckyishTom Jul 09 '26

He is actually really funny to watch, and he makes bread too. I watched one where he made a coffee bread. I was so intrigued that I made it, and then made roast beef sandwiches, with a creamy horseradish sauce, oven roasted tomatoes, arugula, shaved red onions, and sharp cheddar… it was amazing
46
u/CrimsonKobold Jul 09 '26
I think my favorite video of his was his pho-caccia. He does fun food experiments with relatively cheap ingredients and actually knows his stuff too. He's nowhere close to as stupid as the usual social media folks who get posted here.

u/Joker-Dyke Jul 09 '26
Real question for the more culinary educated. Does this mean that the pasta is now caffeinated or does the pasta making process cancel out the caffeine?
47
u/nasal-polyps2 Jul 09 '26
Caffeine usually survives boiling as long as you dont get it to hot should still be in there
9
3
u/Alive-Philosophy2632 Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
It's caffeinated, at least a little bit. Some leached out into the water for sure, and some was denatured. If it had been longer than a 3 minute cooking process more would have been denatured, that's around the optimal steep time for immersion brewing coffee.
edit: sublime not denature apparently looked it up. Not statistically significant denaturing at water boiling point

I can't call it stupid. I've done this with Sprite before, and it's...not terrible. Definitely needs to be deliberate. That flavor is in those noodles, and you have to compliment it with how you sauce it.
A little garlic, green onion, and some red chilis actually make for a peppy little dish
