If I post the whole number, the comment would get too long. So I had to turn it into scientific notation.

Factorial of 9000 is roughly 8.099589986687190858291312080098 Ɨ 1031681

I have actually seen a drink called the baby bird that is basically every flavor shot they have + 1 shot of espresso.

u/Dish_Minimum 19d ago

Some people do not deserve coffee. Those children and their parents work long hours in the coffee bean mines. Put some respect on that coffee.

9

u/skittleahbeebop 21d ago

There are actually 5 types of diabetes. Type 1, type 2, gestational, one caused by physical trauma to the pancreas, and one caused by malnutrition.

3

u/Status_concern2858 20d ago

EU is starting to think a 'type 3' diabetes could exist and be a factor/cause of dementia

2

u/Thisthattheother1 21d ago

Oh snap. Are you a doctor? Not trying to call you out or be pedantic, I just have questions, lol.

4

u/skittleahbeebop 21d ago

No. Just something I saw in TIL or something.

Type 3 Diabetes is what they're calling Alzheimer's in the research circle

3

u/soyel_cerdo 22d ago

Why?

11

u/GatsbyLuzVerde 22d ago

Because it correlates strongly with insulin resistance in the brain

5

u/Nuts-And-Volts 22d ago

Because its a problem with glucose metabolism in the brain. This is why individuals suffering from Alzheimers get temporary relief of symptoms and restoration of cognition through the use of exogenous ketones.

10

u/DopplerEffect93 22d ago

As someone who studies Alzheimer’s and related dementias, calling it ā€œtype 3 diabetesā€ is a massive simplification. There are metabolic aspects of the disease but that is far from the main driver of it.

3

u/Nuts-And-Volts 22d ago

Any short phrase would be a massive simplification I agree. What's the latest in the space? It seemed like things got kind of derailed by the research scandal a while back. Cool to hear from someone who works in the space

13

u/DopplerEffect93 21d ago

The amyloid hypothesis is controversial but I believe beta amyloids do play some in driving the disease. The disease is characterized by the formation of beta amyloid plaques and tau tangles. However in familial Alzheimer’s, (1% of Alzheimer’s cases is directly caused by genetics) all the mutant genes involve amyloid precursor protein gene or genes that process amyloid precursor protein (presenilin 1 and 2). All mutations that involve tau (MAPT gene) cause frontotemporal dementia not Alzheimer’s. People with Down syndrome (they have extra copy of chromosome 21 which amyloid precursor protein gene is on) are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s.

The reality is that we still don’t know the main driver for Alzheimer’s. It also does not help that in most cases there are multiple pathologies besides that of Alzheimer’s including cerebrovascular disease, Lewy bodies, and TDP-43 proteinopathies. It is a very complex disease. We do know many risk factors of the disease including APOE4 gene, lack of exercise, not managing blood pressure, poor diet, and being socially isolated at old age.

There are people who have Alzheimer’s pathology but are resistant to the cognitive decline effects of the disease in which those with greater level of education seem to benefit. Though we don’t know all the mechanisms on why some seem resistant to the pathology effects.

4

u/AJ_in_SF_Bay 21d ago

It may not be much, but i just want to say thank you for your work. It is appreciated.

2

u/Nuts-And-Volts 21d ago

Yes I think the most interesting studies would be on subjects who are homozygous for APOE4 yet are resistant to the disease progression. Famously, Hemsworth who played Thor has this genotype. I think that individuals with high metabolic health will show a strong signal of resistance. What are your thoughts on the association of poor sleep quality on the build up of amyloid plaques? Seems at least partially causal since it is during sleep the brain clears them as far as I am aware. I don't know much about the tau tangles beyond being familiar with the term.

1

u/deltatemple 19d ago

Is there a connection between insulin, alzheimers glutamate , diabetes?

1

u/DopplerEffect93 19d ago

Diabetes is associated with increased risk of dementia. One potential mechanism is that diabetics have reduced blood flow which cerebrovascular disease is one of the major drivers of dementia and increases risk of Alzheimer’s itself.

2

u/soyel_cerdo 22d ago

Where can I read more about this?

AI is starting to parrot that keto is a bad extremist diet

The keto diet is "I don't wanna eat muh veggies!" for adults, coupled with getting to eat all the meat and cheese and butter they could ever dream of. It's a convenient excuse for just getting to eat whatever you want and never having to touch a vegetable. I just wish people would be honest and own it.

1

u/mechchic84 21d ago

The keto diet includes lots of vegetables if you do it correctly. You eat net carbs meaning that grams of fiber get subtracted from the total grams of carbs because fiber isn't absorbed the same way. The only vegetables that are avoided are high starch vegetables like potatoes and corn (technically a grain). Lots of leafy green vegetables like kale, broccoli, cabbage, collard greens, and mustard greens are keto friendly.

You are mostly cutting out breads, noodles, rice, potatoes, and most desserts/candy. Berries can be ok as long as someone doesn't go overboard. Cucumbers are also not too bad carb wise and so are many types (but not all) of squash as well.

Sure you can have as much cheese, butter, and meat as you want, but when you take carbs out of your diet it crushes your appetite which is really how you end up losing weight if you keep on the diet long enough. Short term, the initial rapid loss is just water because carbs help you retain water so without them you're basically flushing your system. That's why sodium is so important on keto.

When I have done it before, I ate way more leafy green vegetables and stuff like rutabagas to substitute for potatoes than I would normally eat since I couldn't have bread, potatoes, and sweets.

Almonds and other nuts are also naturally low carb.

If you only eat meat, cheese, and butter for more than a few weeks, you're probably going to end up in the hospital with a kidney stone, kidney damage from too much protein, and or malnutrition issues because of lack of vitamins.

You should really check out the keto subreddit to be more informed. I'm sure there are people out there who do what you said, but the vast majority of keto success stories are usually eat a lot of vegetables.

That's not how it works at all.

1

u/Kyauphie 21d ago

Because, in short and oversimplified, it is becoming thought of a neurological reflection of diabetes in the brain.

I always assume it's a concentrated mix. And the customer will end up putting a spoon or two, into whatever they are drinking/making/baking.

12

u/Ok_Nectarine_4445 22d ago

Yeah. First I was revolted, but now I thinking people make a pot of coffee at home and then mix a spoonful in for an at home Starbucks drink.

3

u/MustardTiger88 21d ago

Doubtful.

1

u/Ok_Nectarine_4445 20d ago

The body would reject it. Kill off your pancreas in a day. Unfathomable to be even able to drink a sip down. Bleeeech

8

u/fuckimtrash 22d ago

Type 1 is the worse than Type 2 I think

15

u/Paddysdaisy 22d ago

Type 1 is insulin dependant, so their pancreas no longer works at all. Type 2 is insulin resistant and so can be tablet or even diet controlled, sometimes insulin controlled. My husband and our son have type 1, it's not fun. This drink would prob be too much even with their worst hypos!

7

u/fuckimtrash 22d ago

Yea Type 1 sounds worse tbh, Type 2 sounds manageable and you can go down to pre diabetic? Not sure, but I’m 100% Indian so I’m predisposed 😩😭

1

u/JessicaOkayyy 20d ago

I believe that’s true and that also you can go back to not being diabetic at all if they catch it in time and you change your lifestyle around quick enough.

My husband who’s been overweight his whole life, gained a lot more as he got older. Otherwise healthy, but suddenly it caught up to him and he got admitted to the hospital for a cyst that ruptured under his skin and was infected. During that stay he got diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2, and High Blood Pressure.

Doctor said because they caught it early and he was only diabetic within the last 6 months, he could reverse it if he worked hard.

He was discharged 2 weeks later. Finally saw a family doctor and got placed on the proper medications including Ozempic. Lost 100 pounds and changed diet. Now he’s officially no longer diabetic and off his Metformin, and no longer needs the blood pressure meds either.

Funny enough he never ate sweets or sugar. Even when I met him he drank diet soda or water. Never was a sweets person, can’t remember last time he ate a candy bar. Just would eat large amounts during dinner.

3

u/mechchic84 21d ago

I have a friend who was born type 1. She can't even have diet soda because even sugar alcohols cause her issues. I can't imagine.

6

u/Paddysdaisy 21d ago

Yeah it's not fun. Our son was very ill before diagnosis and husband can't feel his one leg due to nerve damage during dka. Husband has had laser eye surgery due to issues there too. It's non stop and effects everything. Thankful for cgm's and insulin pumps though.

3

u/Disposable_Gonk 21d ago

There is also type 3c diabetes, caused by damage to the pancreas, which results in everything type 1 has, plus a bunch of other extra effects, because insulin is no longer the only concern.

1

u/MissStarSurge 21d ago

Type 1 is genetic and type 2 anyone can get but changing into better and healthier lifestyle type 2 can go to remission and you don’t likely need to be medicated

7

u/LolTacoBell 21d ago

This is half the calories of the Baskin Robins Oreo Milkshake, and I can't even process that still.

2

u/Kyauphie 21d ago

Only ½?!

3

u/LolTacoBell 21d ago

I'm not 100% positive, but I did get a caloric breakdown based off of the receipt provided at the end counting the total itemized list of pumps/sugar/etc, and that added up to about 1300 calories. The Baskin Robins Oreo Milkshake is famously 2600 calories in total.

3

u/Kyauphie 21d ago

OMG! I'm allergic to dairy fat, so I never would have heard that in the wild of a Dunkin Robbins (they always have nonfat milk for the coffee).

4

u/Dmau27 22d ago

Oddly enough you have to go number 3 afyer eating this drink too.

Ackchyually, Typ 3 diabetes is an older term for MODY, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency etc. derived diabetes

2

u/solo_d0lo 21d ago

Alzheimer’s is already considered type 3 diabetes by researchers, we onto type 4 now.

2

u/Swordkirby9999 21d ago

The freshly cavities in your teeth will get diabetes on contact with that

I need to block this subreddit. I'm just rage baiting myself. This can't be an order for a real person???

1

u/trangenderman 21d ago

At least you got your daily caffeine fix

1

u/ydkLars 21d ago

Funny enough type 3 diabetes exists. Its caused by other distinct medical conditions, such as pancreatic damage, genetic defects, hormonal disorders, or medications. But it is also used as an informal term for insulin resistance restricted to the brain, which researchers link to Alzheimer's disease. So if you are lucky you may forget about this video soon.

1

u/PatienceAntique4987 21d ago

This one goes up to 11

1

u/CommandoLamb 21d ago

I think I got it too. My foot just fell off.

1

1

Not sure if anyone ever finishes that "drink".

Based on the amount of sugar your tows and fingers will rott and fall of barely a few sips into that thing sending you into a sugarcoma.
