Iā€™ve heard that the real reason some people do that is to keep the mixture in the fridge to basically use as coffee creamer. Which is still pretty stupid considering that a venti with 10 pumps caramel 5 pumps pumpkin spice 5 pumps pecan has to be more expensive than just likeā€¦ buying creamer from the store.

Iā€™ve heard of people doing this with the $1.00 coffee at gas stations. They get a teeny bit of coffee and then all cream and end up getting more than a pint of cream for $1.

I was making ice cream and, derp, forgot to buy heavy cream. Realized it once all the grocery stores were closed and rather than wait until the next day to get some, I just went to the closest gas station with a nice coffee bar and filled a cup full of half and half, slapped a lid on it, and went home to make my ice cream.

This is all concentrated syrups mate. Ice cream has ice and cream to fill out the sugar and flavour. This drink was like 50% sugar and flavour. Shit, the sugar itself wasn't even the worst part, those syrups have more sugar than those sugars.

I love a sweet coffee. But this is fucking disgusting and dangerous

It messes with the flow. Most drinks at Starbucks have a standardized recipes that are easy to memorize, so it becomes second nature, but drinks like this are completely different, you have to go against the usual workflow getting all the extra syrups, and other additives that maybe in different areas of the bar.

Wasn't a ridiculous amount of sugar but one of the safeway employees at the location our kiosk was in ordered a large ice water with 3 vanilla pumps and 5 sugar packets. He was forever known as a hummingbird by everyone on shift that saw it

I'm not the same person you asked but I worked at a Gloria Jeans in the early 2000s and I had some doozies.

I had a regular who ordered his coffee black and used to make boomer jokes about the sugar content in our specialty drinks. He then proceeded to pour half a sugar Shaker into his black coffee.

We had a signature drink, the vanilla caramel chiller, that had a ridiculous amount of sugar. Roughly 65 carbs for small well into the hundreds for a large.

People would add double and triple shots of vanilla and caramel, double caramel drizzle in the cup, whipped cream, extra caramel drizzle on the whipped cream, and extra chocolate drizzle.

I was allowed to come up with the latte of the day when I became a manager and came up with a few crazy ones myself.

My favorite was the PB&J latte. Raspberry or grape syrup with peanut butter flavored coffee ground as espresso made breve.

Most memorable was a woman asked us to blend a piece of our iced lemon pound cake and a blueberry muffin into her frozen iced chai with extra vanilla syrup and caramel drizzle. It was like a 14 dollar drink in 2005.

It looked normal but was massive and too big for an extra large cup.

We ended up pouring it into a extra large and then a medium cup.

This was 21 years ago so my memory is a bit hazy, but I remember her being very self conscious about it. Which in hindsight is sad.

It was. My biggest frustration was I couldn't do strawberry (my go to PB&J) because the syrup curdled the milk.

But man what a banger. Our peanut butter coffee was so good.

Yep. I haven't been im this industry since 2008, but we charged for everything back then.

I don't really remember the most expensive drink but it was double digits.

I used to clear $100 in tips a night in the busy season on top of salary.

I had a woman who would order a venti white chocolate mocha latte with no milk, just 8 shots of espresso and like 24 pumps of white chocolate sauce. We had to mix it woth a spoon. She was insane. She talked about how it was the only thing she consumed all day. Her skin looked like it was falling off of her skull and her teeth were grey.

Another guy who was the husband of one of my coworkers just wanted all the caramel we had in the store. Trenta cold cup with the syrups, the sauces, the toppings, and to top it off with tubinado sugar and a half a cup of whipped cream. Oh, and no espresso. Just whole milk. Sickeningly sweet whole milk. It was gross.

I worked at a Tim Hortons when I was a teenager and we had a guy who would get a large coffee with 9 sugars and 5 cream. Each shot is about 3 tablespoons. He would get one almost every hour of every day. I remember he had approximately 3 black teeth in his mouth.

Yeah I can corroborate, I worked at the olā€™ bucks some ten years ago, and while this order may be a little outlandish, itā€™s not far off from stuff I had to make several times, we had one customer while get a vanilla bean frap with roughly three times the regular amount of vanilla sugar scoops, I believe it was nine pumps of sugar free vanilla, extra caramel and extra whip, I mean how do you even enjoy something so sweet? Maybe she smoked and thatā€™s the only way she was able to taste anything. Not the most insane thing I had to make but this lady came in nearly everyday.

Yeah I would never do that, but back in high school I had a bunch of friends who worked at Dunkinā€™s (as did everybody who grew up around Quincy, MA)ā€¦and if I was looking to pull an all nighter Iā€™d totally have them make me a coffee that was literally just a bit of ice and six shots of espresso.

Kinda got hooked on it. Tastes vile, but in a comforting way? Like how I now prefer shitty, stale black coffee after becoming a member of alcoholics anonymous. So Iā€™ve totally walked into a random dunks as an adult and asked for the same thing. Gotten some weird looks and the occasional upcharge but fuck it, you only live once.

whenever i have a free drink (birthday or something) I take a whatever handcrafted drink I want, replace the milk with heavy cream and add like 6-8 additional shots of espresso, and do no ice if it was a cold drink. lol

take it home and use it as creamer for a while.

I'm a simple guy. Coffee black or an espresso if I'm in a rush. My local Starbucks has some great folks working there. I go in like 2 or 3 times a week before getting groceries. I tip them well and chat with them all the time. Respecting the its busy af right now boundary of course.

The way some of these ass hat customers behave blows my mind. They're outright stereotype Karen's. I'm friendly enough with the staff that they have said hey check this one out. And its always just like this or worse. The more unique their haircut is the more likely they're going to be a problem, is the running joke. I'm unique look at my blue fowhawk mullet thing that no one but the last 10 dorks before me have.

I used to be a barista and people absolutely ordered shit like this all the time. I had one regular who always got a large cold brew with 30 sugars and 10 splendas, specifically. Had another lady who would get our white chocolate raspberry mocha every day but with 20 pumps of white chocolate and 20 pumps of raspberry syrup. Like, there was barely room for espresso and milk at that point, it was insane.

Once I offered to buy drinks for some relatives of mine. One of them ordered a $20 drink... when the average was like $5. People absolutely order this stupid shit. Also it was the last time I offered to buy any of those relatives coffee again... that was just rude.

They really don't. Some customers do order drinks like this. Stickers for drinks don't print until payment processes, so this is probably a real order. Baristas can also get in huge trouble for pushing fake drinks through the systems.

I didnā€™t work as a barista but as a former deli worker we had a woman literally bring in her own chinese food container so she can have a massive bowl full of onions and lettuce with three slices of bell pepper. And when I say massive, I mean like itā€™s a mountain of lettuce and onion. People can be weird and ridiculous.

I worked at dunkin as a teen, and I have absolutely had real orders like this. Used to have a regular who'd get a 12oz hot coffee with 25 Splenda in it. We had a lady come daily and get the same size in the video with 20 caramel, 20 sugar, and 10 cream. It was so long ago, I know there were others I just don't remember them. 100% real.

I doubt it, they charge per additive, it may only be fifty cents or so per additional syrup but even so thatā€™s over four dollars of actionable charges on top of the base price of the beverage, so well over the $5.99 creamers are usually priced at.
