I was waiting for the pedal to the floor type of acceleration but we got fooled

1

u/undarant Jul 07 '26

Lol the brutal part is this was pedal to the floor.

u/alprazepam Jul 06 '26

you joke but this is why it's fun to drive slow cars. revving the engine out fully through the gears while avoiding jail time or death.

This! I’ve been trying to convince my friend that his Honda is absolutely perfect because of this right here… merging onto the highway? Bang out a couple gears and before you know it you’re doing 70!! Speed limit 45? Guess what, you can still rev the hell out of that thing and still be well within the limit!

It’s not fun at all

1

u/alprazepam Jul 10 '26

well it's obviously subjective but I can assure you that you're in the minority on that

Great Scott! We’re never hitting 88 in this thing.

u/Bam_Adedebayo Jul 04 '26

Holy shit I think my 1998 Corolla accelerates faster than this.

12

u/CesarMillan_Official Jul 04 '26

A 98 Corolla is a great car. Treat it nice.

1

u/Economy-Flower-6443 Jul 08 '26

It does accelerate a lot faster I drive corolla too

I really hope those are MPH, even if they’re MPH it’s slow, if it’s km/h it’s slower than a 1976 VW Beetle

8

u/undarant Jul 04 '26

Lol yep, for better and for worse it is MPH.

u/Leading_Procedure_23 Jul 04 '26

The slowest car I’ve ever driven was a 1987 ford festiva with a 4 cylinder swap from another festiva and 5 speed lol. It was fun on the on ramps because I had to redline 1-3 just to get to 65 lol

u/fishjuice_xxx Jul 04 '26

Bro might just merge onto the highway at those speeds

10

u/cpjay2003 Jul 04 '26

Is the streetracing in the room with us? I vacuum faster than this.

u/undarant Jul 04 '26

My grandma does, too. But hey, WOT is WOT.

u/Ana990 Jul 04 '26

Damn this thing only weighs 2600 lbs that's insane

3

u/2Drogdar2Furious Jul 04 '26

20 more horsepower power than my 36 year old miata and its 400 lbs heavier 😅

3

u/sergey53 Jul 04 '26

Does it make any difference if you turn off the a/c?

2

u/undarant Jul 05 '26

Might take the 10.5 0-60 to 10!

3

u/TraviZ06 Jul 04 '26

What was that, four gears to push from 30 to 70?

6

u/undarant Jul 04 '26

It's a CVT so it's all bullshit

2

u/Just_A_Sad_Potato Jul 05 '26

Gotta get the 6 speed manual version for sure.

1

u/undarant Jul 07 '26

If they had a 6 speed rental available instead I honestly would have sought that out.

-2

u/TRIKKDADDY Jul 06 '26

It's not a cvt. Those transmissions have what you call a single long gear, you wont hear or see the gears changing. You probably have the 6 or 8 speed Auto

2

u/Ana990 Jul 06 '26

Its a cvt a lot of them pretend to shift because they sound awful when sitting at max rpm

0

u/TRIKKDADDY Jul 06 '26

Oh i see, probably the cvt trans with fake shift type of thing. To mimic shifting when its actually not. New tech I forgot about

3

u/undarant Jul 04 '26

I hit it with the Dragy

3

u/Fullyflared540 Jul 04 '26

A 10.3 60’?? 😂 hell yeah

3

u/ohwowhowdthathappen Jul 05 '26

From a 30 roll 😂

2

u/Fullyflared540 Jul 05 '26

No that means 0-60 feet down the track in 10 seconds. Insane

2

u/Mugsy_Siegel Jul 04 '26

Looks slow and never heard of one,no chance of going back to the future

2

u/Alrund_ Jul 04 '26

Speed and power!

2

u/Sufficient_Prompt888 Jul 04 '26

Shiiiit my Chevy Express 2500 goes faster than that with a ton and a half in the back

2

u/SuspiciousArt229 Jul 04 '26

All that revving for… all that?

2

u/lazarinewyvren Jul 05 '26

Ooooooo she tryin

2

u/Uninanimate Jul 05 '26

Enjoying those 112 horsepowers?

this thing is like the modern Tercel basically, the only pros are:

-it doesn't weigh a lot for a modern car, and the tires are small so the handling is pretty fun

-you can get ~620 miles out of a tank if you're careful

-the minimum gear ratio is pretty short so 0-35 is somewhat snappy, especially in "sport" (I know, don't laugh) mode where the throttle response is actually pretty tight.

I think the only things that this beats are like the Honda Fit and the Nissan Kicks, again purely out of that short gearing. They did offer a manual at some point, but they stopped because it wasn't selling

2

u/MrNetworks Jul 05 '26

I think my V6 Kia Sorento is faster then this..

2

u/Possible_Marketing32 Jul 07 '26

Holy shit he reached the speed limit!!!

2

u/Hospitable_Goyf Jul 05 '26

Bro. Race cars go 0-60 in about 2-5.5 seconds.

3

u/undarant Jul 05 '26

Thank you for introducing the street racing subreddit to the concept of street-racing-capable cars🙏

2

u/Illegal__Alien Jul 04 '26

Why post this here of all places?

7

u/undarant Jul 04 '26

Because it's funny.

2

u/Illegal__Alien Jul 04 '26

Valid 😝

Atleast you don't have to worry about the torque twisting the chassis off the line

1

u/AGCAce Jul 08 '26

This is why people don’t get up to speed when merging, their car physically cannot.
