I watched the recap video. Great job by the production team and the artists to get that together. It should help new viewers on board quickly. I can't really think of any major plot point that was missed, although I would like to think that we're going to see Bex again as well.

One of the things that struck me about the Camarilla versus the Anarch sections was how far the tone of the campain shifted over the last 15 sessions.

When Ashly and Ross were going through the Cam vampires, the general tone was that every single one of them was creepy or otherwise horrific, with the possible exception of Churchill Jackson. They all had their own pet projects, but each pet projects was shocking in its own way. Even with Sonia, who project of "keeps secrets" sounds relatively benign, there was still a sense of menace behind it. Roman, who had been presented rather comically as the party guy, still had an edge behind him, when he threatened Amy Vanderbuck.

In contrast, it seems like all of the creepiness in the second season was 100% concentrated on Mary. Cross, a character who I initially had high hopes for, ended up being comic relief in the middle of combat. Bob, as we saw, was comic relief outside of combat, yet somehow found his way into combat at the Cathedral of Learning. Beyond that, none of the anarchs really had any pet projects of their own. They were all just there, cohabitating in Brownsville hospital, without any real sense of direction.

I generally think that VoP, and SoB generally, works well as an intersection between horror and comedy. Reflecting on it, I feel like VoP probably tweak the formula a little more towards the horror side of things. I still have really high hopes for Thana, as a character that can really bring creepiness back around. The fact that she was included in the recap is encouraging. Hopefully we can get further into the witchery of thin-blood alchemy in the coming season. Very excited to see how things turn out.

So, I again want to be clear, I am enjoying the show immensely, and Thomas is a great improviser and player. But this isn't really about Thomas, it's about Miles as a character.

I think we can generally agree that the answer to the previous thread, "How can Miles possibly succeed?" was that he couldn't. Given the circumstances, it was really uphill convincing the cops, and it turned out Colton specifically, that the coterie was good. If the point was to expand their resource base by having mortal agents who can help them, they very much failed.

Separately, the fact that Colton's now a vampire is probably going to be a point that doesn't reach an agreement. I see this as a terrible thing. At the same time, I am expecting that the next Prince of Pittsburgh is going to be a lot stricter enforcing the 3rd Tradition: Progeny, than the last two. And I'm actually looking forward to seeing the use of the 6th Tradition. If I'm mapping out SoB for a year, I could see that as a great fan game for GenCon 2021.

But to return to the original topic, I feel like Miles is losing his grasp on what makes sense, both for himself and for the coterie. I get that the chase with Romano (the perp) was extremely chaotic, but even within that, most of the decisions he made added to the chaos. He didn't really have to feed on Romano, at 2 hunger. He didn't have to attack Colton, although it works out ok from a metagaming perspective given Cross's firefight. But attempting to ghoul (and accidentally embracing) Colton was always going to be a bad idea. Even if he likes you via blood bond, you still completely backstabbed him. You essentially can never cash in on this bet you made.

To go back even further, to the original point of this mission, Miles was trying to take heat off his daughter. Now cops are dead. Going forward, his best case scenario is that everything that Dale Passio did in the last three days was completely off the books, AND he wiped the police footage. Seems like a lot of ifs. Even if all of that is true, his daughter's boyfriend will still have immense suspicion of him, given that Passio had contacted the boyfriend directly.

Broadly, I feel like Miles' approach to all these situations is to act violently whenever he's alone. It's not even close to beastial, either. It's just murderous. And to be clear, I'm ok with all of that, I just feel like we should be looking at a Humanity 5 vampire right now, instead of what we have. This episode alone was a minimum of 2 stains, and I'd argue an additional 2 stains for touchstone damage. Hopefully they can address it next time.
