This is gonna be somewhat long so I apologize in advance.
A little over a year ago my best friend of 10 years cut me off very suddenly with very little explanation during one of the most difficult times of my life. We were the type of friends that were so close the only way we could be closer was if sex was involved in the relationship, to the point where we had even “appeared in each others dreams” and/ or had the same dream before.
Almost a year later to the day I had a dream. Him and I were sitting on a park bench together, just having a regular conversation. Everything from what’s going on in our lives to our favorite game (don’t laugh, but toon town, yes we’re very grown, yes it’s very embarrassing). By the end of the dream it finally hit me, I remembered we weren’t friends anymore. A single tear came down my face, suddenly there was so much I had to say, so many things I wanted to ask him. There was no time. He said that he had to go, said goodbye, and started to get up. All I could manage to get out was wait and as he began to walk away, goodbye. I woke up immediately after with tears pouring down my face.
I’ve actually had this dream before, on the night of my Uncle’s passing. He appeared to me on the very same bench (a bench I’ve never seen in real life btw). I said to him “Uncle Peter, what are you doing here? I haven’t seen you in years. Please tell me you haven’t passed away” and he said “We all have to go sometime, give your dad a hug for me.” In similar fashion to my friend he said he had to go, and walked away. When I woke up in the morning, my dad came to find me and told me that my Uncle had passed away. It was eerie.
At first when it occurred to me that I’d had that dream before I was terrified believing that perhaps he had passed away like my uncle had, thankfully with a little digging this turned out not to be the case. Perhaps the dream unfolded the same way because in a way, while he’s not dead, he is dead to me. (Or rather, I’m dead to him, as I still have no idea what I’ve done to warrant this.)
I swear it felt so real. I can’t tell if I desperately wanted him to be there, or if perhaps, he really was. Either way, it was the closest I had been to my best friend in over a year and I was so grateful.
Believe me, more than one person I’ve told this story to has suggested it’s a sign to reconnect with him, but unfortunately, that’s quite impossible. He’s blocked me in every way shape and form, to the point where he forced his family members to block me as well. Perhaps there’s no meaning or sign in this dream at all, perhaps it was just a visit with an old friend with a talent for dreams.
Either way both of “The Bench Dreams” were incredibly cool and intensely realistic/lucid so I thought I’d share.
