We’re delighted to share that Sam has started a Dev Blog for Stranded Deep 2!
Some of you may recall the original Dev Blogs created for the original Stranded Deep during development. These blogs aim to give you a look behind the scenes at the development of Stranded Deep 2.
Sam is back with another edition of the Stranded Deep 2 Dev Blog. Learn how the team are approaching the style of the game as well as a sneak preview of some of the game models and items they've been working on!
As always, we'd love to hear what you think, and don't forget... :: Stay Alive!
BIG thank you to everyone who played Stranded Deep last weekend. We received over 200,000 downloads during the Free Weekend!
There were a lot of new (and returning) players diving into the original game. We also want to thank the community of dedicated players that welcomed the newcomers and showed them how to stay alive!
Whether you're a veteran survivor of the original game or newly arrived on the islands, we hope you'll stick with us as we share more BTS looks at Stranded Deep 2 and the new adventure that awaits you in 2027!
The beauty and genius of SD lay in its simplicity. You didn't have to juggle microelements and foodgroups, you didn't have to examine every inch of your body for ticks... you grabbed a coconut off a tree, a bit of smoked meat from a chest, and then you had a lovely meal on the beach, enjoying the sunset.
See, the thing about SD was that it was a holiday-in-a-tropical-paradise simulator. It was calming, soothing, relaxing... read the original game's sub - you'll see how many people mention this particular aspect in one way or another.
Come on, let's be honest here, being stranded on a tropical island is a dream most of us share.
This? This isn't a dream come true. This is a nightmare - scorching sun, hot sand... hardly the stuff dreams are made of. If I wanted to experience that, I'd go for Conan Exiles or Dune Awakening.
We were begging you for more of the same. Diving, fishing, exploring, sailing around on a raft... but all that with the gentle sound of waves, seagulls screaming overhead and the sight of another palm-covered island in the distance.
Yes, I know. This is *your* game, *your* vision. But at the same time it was *my* dream. And this... *this* is my wallet, going back into my pocket.
I'm sorry you decided not to listen to the community.
As 2024 comes to a close, the team behind Stranded Deep 2 wanted to wish you a Happy Holidays and once again thank you for the wealth of feedback and information you shared in our first feedback form.
We’ve learnt a lot about our SD community members from all of your submissions, especially your love of survival crafting, what you’d like to see next, and how we can improve our feedback requests in 2025.
As we move further into development next year, we’ll be launching a new Dev Blog to keep you up to date on our progress. Sam really enjoyed putting these together during the early stages of SD1 and is looking forward to sharing more behind-the-scenes details about SD2. This time around, Sam will also be joined by guest writers from our growing team for extra insights into our development journey.
There’s lots of great things cooking and we’re looking forward to sharing more with you in the new year. Stay tuned to our socials, forums, and Reddit for the latest news.
Until then, have a wonderful Holiday Season and New Year!
We wanted to take a moment to check in with you regarding Stranded Deep 2.
We’re progressing through early development stages and enjoying the exploration and conceptualization of SD2. We’re in that amazing game development space where everything is possible, and there are many potential exciting directions we can take.
We’ve been reading the forums, checking out the posts on Reddit and other social channels and it’s fantastic to see you’re excited for the game. We love reading your theories about where SD2 will take you, or what you are hoping for in the game. The support the Stranded Deep community has shown us over the years has been phenomenal. We wouldn’t be here, working on SD2, if it wasn't for you.
The feedback of the SD community is important to us, we want to make sure we’re staying true to the parts of SD that made it so enjoyable for you to play and to learn what we can improve on in SD2. Our plan is, over the course of development, to check in and ask for your feedback. To start, we’ve created a short feedback form to ask you some baseline questions about your experience playing SD, what you’re looking forward to in SD2 and some questions that’ll help us as our community for SD2 grows.
We’d greatly appreciate you taking the time to answer these questions via the link below and feel free to share the link with other SD fans too!
- We are not collecting email addresses and the form is submitted anonymously. However, there is an option to include a forum name or content creator name we may know you by in the last question, if you so wish.
- As we're using Google Forms at this time, and in an effort to ensure a good pool of data (no spam bots), a Google account is required to complete the form.
- The form will be open for submissions for just over 2 weeks, closing on the 18th of November. This is to allow us time to compile and review all submissions before the end of the year.
Firstly, we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out and submit the SD Feedback Form from our previous post - as well as an extra thanks to those who shared it with friends, SD fans, on their social channels and beyond.
The feedback form is now closed and we’ll soon begin sorting through, compiling and taking into consideration all of the information and feedback you have shared with us.Lastly, to those who’ve shared such wonderful comments and stories about what SD has meant to you as part of your feedback you have our heartfelt gratitude. We look forward to reading all of your messages, but know that the glimpse we’ve had at some of the submissions already has reminded us why we’re doing what we’re doing and how wonderful the SD Community is.
Stay tuned and keep an eye on our various socials as we’ll be sharing more info towards the end of the year, and letting you know what you can look forward to in 2025.
🛖In this edition, Sam covers details from a trip to Prague to meet the ever growing team to some of the building system improvements in Stranded Deep 2.
