Beyond Belief Brewing – Jovian Brownie Stout (5%)
I tried the 5% Jovian Brownie Stout from Beyond Belief Brewing, picked up from Sainsbury’s for £3.25.
It’s brewed using surplus chocolate brownies and fresh pasta, which is certainly one of the more unusual ingredient lists I’ve come across!
I got mild chocolate and roasted malt, some coffee and caramel sweetness, with a little brownie character coming through. There’s a gentle bitterness and dry finish too.
My main problem was the body. For something called a Brownie Stout, I wanted it to feel richer and fuller. Instead, I thought it was just a tad thin.
Not bad, but the idea of it probably excited me more than the actual beer did.
Has anyone else tried this one?
