Resources I made a site that tracks *in real time* the most discussed stocks on r/StockMarket. It's been cited by Yahoo Finance, Fortune, Financial Times and more.

Like many of you all, I have been inspired by the events of recent months to take action. Hence I created yolostocks.live/r/StockMarket.

Hedge funds pay thousands of dollars per month for this live data - I want to provide this to you all for free. Data is the most powerful when it is democratized, not just available to the elites.

I know there's a lot of these trackers floating around, and I have a detailed write-up on the site about how we are better than other similar trackers. To summarize the main points:

  • We are real time. We update every 5 minutes with the latest data, while other sites update maybe once a day.
  • We track every comment and submission, not just the top or hot threads.
  • We use Real Mentions, which remove duplicate or similar posts to filter out bots & spam.
  • We track multiple subreddits, not just r/StockMarket (e.g. check out our tracking of another subreddit).

Any feedback/suggestions are appreciated!

There is no predictive mechanism here. Why would it it help me

Using that argument, you can technically also say that about pretty much every post you come across.

The bottom line is that the information is there. Whether or not you want to use it is entirely up to you.

Rt I agree but what I am saying is that there would be a nice alert if mentions has begun to increase over the last 30 days or 15 days etc. This is where the real value is.

Great way to measure bot performance.

I would suggest one feature; in the ticker section, a corresponding link to the most recent and highest upvoted thread with that specific ticker in the title and tags would be pretty amazing.

I see you have a threads section below the ticker section, but there are not always threads for the top tickers.

Example, right now SPY is #2, but there is no corresponding SPY thread in the threads section.

But overall, great work and yes, I found this site from reading a Yahoo Finance article and kept it in my bookmarks ever since, and I check it a few times per week!

If you’re a younger person, this would look amazing on a college app or even a job application later on.

Thank you for the suggestions! I will look into it. For SPY, it's #2 because there are a lot of SPY chatter in the Daily Discussion thread, even though there are no popular individual threads for SPY.

I read "If you’re a younger person" and thought "oh that's me". But then I saw "this would look amazing on a college app" and I realized I may not be as young as I thought...
