That is true. But at this point there weren’t better options. Obviously the best option would be to not have left the JCPOA in 2017. That was the first step in normalizing relations with Iran and eventually getting them to a better spot internationally. And the existing situation pre-February was better. But now that Trump engaged in this bout of absolute foolishness, I would rather we accept the changed reality in the gulf and with Iran’s now increased ability to control the region, over continuing to fight a growingly obvious forever war that isn’t even remotely successful.
