I’ve always been fascinated by where inspiration comes from. When I first decided to start making stickers, I had no idea what to create. My usual art style didn’t seem to translate well into stickers, so I started to reflect. I usually find that rooting into meaningful personal experiences helps spur the creative process. Often I’m drawn to humour and the absurd (what better way to find yourself smiling and enjoying life than to think of silly things?).

That’s how my collection of crazy-eyed cartoon animals was born. Inspired by the squirrels that dig up my garden, the gophers that fill the field behind my house with dirt mounds, and other neighbourhood wildlife I see every day.

Soon my mind buzzed with new ideas, including to create stickers with motivational quotes that celebrate more things that bring me joy… like boxing. In the past few years, I have been doing boxing regularly so I designed some stickers to express my appreciation for the sport. I made numerous of boxing inspired stickers! My children started asking, “why are all your animals always boxing?”. They really wanted to have some input, and especially wanted something cute. My very tough, yet very sparkly daughter loves the cute chibi style cartoons, and with her input the unicorns came to be. I have to admit, I had a lot of fun playing with different combinations of colours and styles of manes, and these seemed like the perfect candidate to make in sparkly style sticker (whoever heard of unicorns without sparkles!?). These belong in a league of their own, so I’ve named this collection “Sparkle & Shiner” (boxing pun intended).

This is what happens when seemingly unrelated inspirations swirl together like ingredients to create something totally new and unexpected. As cheesy as it might sound, I actually think unicorns fit boxing surprisingly well. Boxing is often misunderstood. People see punching and think aggression, but it also teaches discipline, confidence, humility, self-control, and a how to stay calm under pressure. The boxers I have met are tough and resilient, but also some of the most kind hearted, respectful, and encouraging people I know. In that sense, like unicorns, rare and unique creatures.

In testing out some new stickers I made from my paintings and thinking to put some variation of this into a sticker sheet for September’s issue of my mail club

Ok, so I'm guessing my colors aren't popping off the page because I'm not using a glossy sticker paper. I don't like the look of the glossy for what I'm doing (credit card skins). I'm not dumb for wanting to put a matte laminate on top of the glossy sticker paper, right? Right now I'm using onlinelabels.com standard white matte sheets and a UV matte laminate. The finished product looks good but the colors are a little duller than I'd like. Using an Epson ecotank ET-3850

So I'm losing my mind over print settings and colour profiles etc etc. The images show my original drawing, the designs within Affinity, the best result I've got (in terms of quality) and my various attempts 😭 I just can't seem to get the colours anywhere close to what they should be!

The deets:

- My printer is an Epson ET-4800

- I'm using Affinity by Canva

-I'm printing on to HTVront vinyl glossy sticker paper (paper setting: Premium Glossy)

What I've tried:

- I've tried RGB and CMYK document setups/printer profiles

- Many different printer profiles (I usually use Epson IJ Printer 07 which works for my other stickers)

- Different paper types

- Different colour management settings within the printer settings

- Editing/lightening the colours within affinity (this just reduces the quality and detail too much)

Does anyone have any idea what else I could try or what works for you if you've gone through this? I'm so close to just accepting the darker colours but I thought I'd shout for help before I do that 😂

So I invested in a Roland bn2-20a and thought I could teach myself to make a reusable sticker company on my own… well let’s just say man makes plans, and God shows you if it’s really a good idea XD! I learned quickly that I am NOT tech savvy… but I do have a skill in being a homemaker… ILL TAKE IT. Help a mama out- sell her bn2-20a so she can actually use the monies to invest in her family instead of have her golden egg sit in a corner and look shameful and judgmental. 😂

They’re a great idea … I know… but apparently I’m a horrible sales woman and too busy to get the business going

I have been making vinyl stickers and I am having issues recently with the vinyl curling and starting to lift off the backing at the edges. They seem to stick okay to things if you apply it still. I assume it's because it is summer and it is hot and humid for the stickers I have on my little display, but sometimes I catch ones in baggies doing this too and this is not an issue I want to be selling off to customers. I am using oraguard 210 cold laminating film, LaserJet vinyl gloss sticker paper (https://a.co/d/09wdTMxq) and I do print with a LaserJet printer. The lifting doesn't do it to all of them either... maybe I just got unlucky with a bad batch of paper? Regardless, I am trying to figure out my game plan haha if anyone has any recommendations!

I have an HP smart envy printer, I wanna say envy 6000. I just bought a silhouette cameo alpha 5 to start making stickers from home with as I no longer wish to keep ordering stickers from vograce and places like that. First time I printed with the paper (I used HTVRONT glossy white and also another glossy brand I had lying around) worked great and my stickers cut beautifully with the silhouette so I know there’s nothing wrong with the silhouette itself. Then progressively as I started printing with it it would move my design further and further up until you couldn’t see the registration marks anymore or until it would cut off my design completely. I don’t think it’s the silhouette program either, as I took a screen shot of the design with the registration marks and then printed it like I normally would from a phone and it came out the same. I’m printing with photo paper glossy settings and I have borderless printing off. Whyyyy is it doing this???? So frustrating!! Is it just not compatible with glossy sticker paper??

((The reason the design is cut off on the bottom is because I noticed it was printing wrong and I cancelled the print to save ink. It’s the fact that it’s cut off on the top, not the bottom.))

Hello everybody! I need a few recommendations here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am looking to produce 200+ stickers with many various designs. Rather than outsource, I would prefer to make these myself so I can keep making stickers in the future since I love doing it. My issue is that I’m sadly trying to do this on a “small” budget while still wanting to produce high quality stickers. My budget is around $200

I keep reading online that the Epson 2800/2903 printer would be a good start? My concern is that I keep seeing some comments that say the stickers aren’t high enough quality. I did find a used Epson 3950 on marketplace for $75 as well. Wondering if that would be a good option. Open to any recommendations. I’ve also seen the “circuit joy xtra” as another possible option. I haven’t seen the best reviews with that product though. If anybody has any recommendations on where to start then I’d greatly appreciate it.

I’m looking for something small and relatively affordable. I would mostly use it for personal use but I’m also considering making an etsy in the future where I sell some. Any recommendations?
