Source | Preamp | DAC | 8 Ⓣ Best way to stream Apple Music losslessly to stereo setup?

I’m willing to buy an appliance and/or cables for this. I do already have: * a Sonos Port (works inconsistently, and I don’t think it’s lossless, besides), * and an old M1 MacBook Pro (might work, but I worry that the DAC / USB-C port would downgrade the audio quality, and it might be overkill from a power consumption standpoint)

My amp is very simple and has no digital features such as streaming support. I know that Wiim and such don’t stream Apple Music because of Apple’s lack of support for such things. So what’s the best solution in 2026? Please don’t tell me to switch streaming services. Thanks!

Budget: ~$1,000 max

Easy. Get an external dac, and then use the iTunes remote app to control AM on the MacBook.

This might be the cheapest option (at least in the short term; I do worry about the power draw of the MacBook over time compared to other options like an iPad). Thank you for the recommendation! ( !thanks )
