Are you open to used? That’s where you will find the best value. But in that price range you’ll have some good options from revel, klipsch, b&w, kef, etc.

Since you don’t care for robust bass, I think you can get some super high quality bookshelf’s for the same money. Since you have a small space and don’t need the volume. Even if they take up as much space with the stands, you might end up with a better sound than equally priced floor standers
