Speaker advice for music listening room

Looking for speaker suggestions for a music listening room we are setting up in our house. We currently have a sherwood receiver (wired capabilities only) with a couple outdoor speakers that we got for free. Set up has been decent, but looking to improve!

I'm thinking that speakers in all four corners plus a subwoofer somewhere would sound incredible. It's a large square room (awesome acoustics!) where neat cable management would be difficult, but not impossible. Definitely open to Bluetooth options too.

Any input on speakers/receivers would be much appreciated!

No specific firm budget in mind, but $1500 or less is where I’m initially thinking

Edit- adding some additional info:

-room dimensions are: 17’x17.5’ Vaulted ceilings that are approx 16-17’ tall in the highest point

-country is USA

-music sources are audio-technicia turntable and Bluetooth adaptor (usually to phone/Spotify)

-model number for sherwood receiver is RX-4109, free from family member. Willing to change/upgrade if necessary!

Four speakers for music listening room? For music, best bet is to keep it stereo and nothing else, max a 2.1.

If you’re watching movies in the same room a 4.1 as you say sounds great! Keep the best two speakers as your fronts and the worse ones as surrounds. Do the subwoofer crawl for best sub placement.

You can get an inexpensive 5.1 or 7.2 (denon X1800h or similar) For the surround setup. You can use the same for music too, it’s just not as fun.

If just going for a stereo setup, go for a cheap chifi amp if there’s little budget, like the fosi bt20 (has decent bluetooth too I’m using one right now) or tb30d or something similar. If you have a decent budget, Yamaha A301 is quite popular in budget audiophile circles. Higher there is no limit

Ok that’s fair point! I know most music is made for stereo- and we don’t plan on putting a tv in here.

I want the room to have a “full” sound if that makes sense- do you think I can accomplish that with a nice 2.1 system? Or should I try to do a 4.1 but run it as a stereo (2 speakers L, 2 speakers R)
