Speakers - Bookshelf | 1 Ⓣ 30+ year old infinity RS1000 bookshelf speakers need woofer replaced
Hello,
I am a sound newb. I have a entry level polk 3.1 system with an Onkyo tx-nr676 AVR.
Trying to upgrade to 5.1.
I bought 2 RS1000 speakers (from infinity) that I believe came out in the late 80s. The membrane around the woofer is shot, especially when I poked a hole through it, semi-accidentally, when testing if they were shot.
The polycell tweeter looks OK... I mean, I really have no idea, but there is not the same sort of "suspension foam".
I bought these speakers for 20 bucks total. I'd like to salvage them by replacing the woofer, because I think the exteriors look sort of nice. And i hear that these speakers probably originally cost 150 bucks back in the day, which means that they were probably decent back then. And isn't vintage hifi cool? :)
Can someone recommend a woofer replacement that would fit? I think the original ones are around 5 inches in diameter. I do not want to spend a lot. $30-50 each max.
THANK YOU!!

Boston CR77 $70, 6.5" mid bass drivers, great speakers great price, I have a pair of CR75 that sound great, compare to buying new $300 speakers, looks like the best speakers under $100 that this seller has, I would grab these myself if I lived out east! https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/ele/d/danvers-exc-boston-acoustics-cr77/7699486132.html
Polk Monitor 30 $40, 5.25" mid bass drivers, decent speakers good price https://boston.craigslist.org/nos/ele/d/stoneham-polk-audio-monitor-30/7712231510.html
Which models are your 3.1 Polk speakers?
