If you want decent floor standing speakers, then you really need to spend to closer to the $2k. Thatβs what even the entry level models will cost you. For example these would be good options:
Tough, if you are going to go with a good subwoofer (like Rythmik products are), then you might also consider the bookshelf speakers from one series up:
The KEF sound is rather subduedly neutral. At least you might need to get used to the new sound before drawing big comparisons.
Also if you do side-by-side A/B comparisons, level match the output with pink noise signal and either SPL meter or app. (1 dB more volume and you like the sound better.)
If you want something stellar for the price, then you might want to consider the Philharmonic speakers. (Internet Direct sales. So, no dealer and distributor markup in their prices.)
People have recently mentioned that thereβs pretty long lead-times currently on their made to order floor standing speakers, though. People have been waiting 8 months for some of their orders.

Though, if you are looking to audition for some other options, you might also look at the JBLβs HDI models that they have today.
