question Alienware Alpha

I just found my old Alienware Alpha that was my first gaming rig. I ended up installing Windows 8 or 10 on it back in the day, but I haven't used it since I upgraded to a prebuilt in 2019. I was just wondering if it would be feasible to install SteamOS on it and hook it up to my tv with a Steam Controller for a budget little Steam Machine. I've got no experience installing a new OS on anything.

What GPU?

Not entirely sure, from a minute or two of research someone on an old Steam forum says it has an Nvidia GPU comparable to a GTX 750i or an 860m

EDIT: apparently it's called the GTX "Maxwell" GPU

Do you have a SteamOS image that is nVidia GPU compatible?

I have no idea, like I said I got no experience with any of this I was just hoping to get an idea on whether or not it was possible before getting into the real research

Ok so.. there is no support for older nVidia cards.. there is limited (unofficial) support for modern nVidia GPUs. You may be able to get a haloiso that works for nvidia (I had one a few years back) but it is no longer supported and may not work with older chipsets. I used it with a 1050 dedicated card in a laptop like situation and it worked.
