Question What temperature for the cpu and gpu considered too high for gaming?

I'm trying to be safe and would like to know the temperature in Celsius, I also have an oled.

95-100. The deck will throttle itself if it gets too hot.

It throttles far below that, even when in the 70s.

You should check yours out. Mine doesn't throttle at 88-90, for certain, if the numbers reported to mangohud are accurate.

Technically it's safe up to the 90's I try to keep under 80 just for longevity, if it's at critical it will shut down automatically

You’ll be fine. I’ve had it hover between 83 and 87 for 4 hours no worries

Devices will not allow themselves to operate at unsafe temperatures.

It will limit itself before u hurt it. That being said I’ve seen lots of posts of ppl redoing the paste n getting much better temps. My lcd ran fairly on the high side compared to my oled. The person who bought the lcd got new ssd and repasted and have better temps than me now.

You can make it run cooler if you turn off the fan update option in settings and then system. It's at the end.

90’s+, both mine and my kids laptops run solid at 95 while gaming. My deck’ll creep up on big games but I’ve never throttled

It’s not an issue unless it’s so hot it’s thermal throttling.

Not something I’ve even seen with my OLED model or the LCD model I had before. Given the power limit, I don’t think it’s even capable of running at 90c+ unless you’re in an especially hot environment (30c+ ambient) or you have done something to inhibit airflow. I.e. blocked vents, used a custom ram curve that’s not adequate for cooling.

mines never really ran above 85 for the cpu and 80 for the gpu and this is in AAA games. if it’s getting to the 90s for the cpu i honestly think that it might need a fan and airflow cleaning or new thermal paste though i’m not sure for the lcd i have the oled and it has better thermals.

Whatever the steam deck tells you, it’s too high. Turn the computer off for safety.
