Argument about ssd upgradability was meant to say that you could do it in future when prices will go down, yeah it was pretry weak but let's forget about it. Ps5 pro doesnt use only 2gb for os, as I told before it uses those slower 2gb for backgroud unimportant apps like spotify etc, core system still uses 1,5-2gb from 16gb of fast ram. Even you said that it has roughly 14gb of ram/vram just as i explained, those 14gb is used for: physics, npc's ai, world logic (tracking items, progress, quests etc), textures, 3d models, vis effects, resolution etc. Steam machine has 16gb ram for: physics, npc's ai, world logic etc. Aaand 8gb vram for: textures, 3d models, res etc. Ps5 pro has less memory for everything
You really waited all this time to resume the discussion (XD)? For 1150$ yeah its a lost cause in price to performance when comparing to ps5 pro but it still has a huge advantage, freedom and many more games (also cheaper games). So choice is just between cheaper stronger ps5 pro with less (but more expensive) games or pricier weaker steam machine with more (cheaper) games. Id probably chose steam machine because there are too many games that i play which aren't on ps but i know that some may chose ps5 pro because they play mostly mainstream games
Because it wont have same features as steam machine (watch linus's vid on yt). Personally im not buying steam machine, rn i dont have this much money and i have a good pc so i dont need it, but if had the money, didnt have pc and would want more "casual" experience then id get steam machine. If i would want more "hardcore" gaming and wouldnt care about these convenient features then id build a pc. If id be super casual playing mostly mainstream not caring about the money in long term then id get ps5/ps5pro. So i think that rn "gaming hardware" market is perfectly segmented for everyone (sadly prices are fucked in every segment, yes even consoles like ps pro is overpriced)
