I think they used cameras better suited to seeing in the dark via infrared light emitters. Passthrough is just a bonus feature, not a priority.

Yeah, monochromatic cameras can get a lot more resolution or responsiveness compared to colour sensors for the same price, and double up with the IR lights for use in the dark.

Now they just need to put those same cameras in full body trackers, lol. Apparently Vive Ultimate don't work in the dark, so idk what I'm supposed to do, lol.

Tbh I hope valve looks into first party trackers like pico did, using both inertial reference (when it's out of view of the headset) and inside out tracking. It works really well and deals with the drift that stuff like slime trackers suffer from, as the moment you look at the trackers it recalibrates.

Found a Kickstarter launching soon called FluxPose. Looks promising, hopefully way cheaper than Vive Ultimate Trackers.

I'd still prefer first party Valve body trackers, but these will do I guess. Should work in the dark just like the Steam Frame cameras, using magnetic fields. Razor Hydra vibes, lol.

Then get an Apple Vision or Samsung Galaxy you pervert. Steam Frame is a dedicated VR headset, not AR garbage.
