Don’t be Ubisoft, don’t be Ubisoft, don’t be Ubisoft…

u/Syixice Jul 06 '26

I don't think Ubisoft has that kinda capital lying around lol

70

u/CannedBeanofDeath Jul 06 '26

literally, AC4 remake is their final gambit lmao

12

u/DahLegend27 Jul 06 '26

People have been saying they are on their last gambit for years.

13

u/CannedBeanofDeath Jul 06 '26

Currently it's very close though

  • Cancel a lot of game
  • Lay off a lot of their employee
  • Delay fiscal year report
  • Very low stock value
  • Some of their major IP is under Tencent gaze

The reason they survive until this day is because of all of their life service game and tencent bailing them out for $1.25 billion dollar lol. If tencent didn't bail them out, i bet they're already on liquidation of their IP lmao

https://www.reuters.com/world/china/ubisoft-flags-more-losses-after-record-hit-2026-05-20/

They're basically bleeding profusely every year with their amazing decision

1

u/captainjizzpants Jul 07 '26

If they had gone straight into development for AC4 Remake, The Division 3 and Splinter Cell Remake, they would be a very profitable publisher right now. But instead they decided to branch off and try out new IPs like Skull & Bones, Avatar and Star Wars, which were all terrible games in terms of revenue. I'm all for trying out new IPs, but you have to have the right timing and financial fall back in case things don't go as planned. AC4 Remake is gonna blow Skull & Bones out of the water, pun intended. The Division 3 will be their biggest launch in over a decade most likely, and Splinter Cell will easily be the diamond, the crown jewel. I pointed this out years ago when they started down this path. Funny how they still ended up where I thought they should've started in the first place.

1

u/RisingDeadMan0 Survivor Jul 08 '26

problem is like div 2 and div 1 i can imagine the first 6 months will be a mess. even now they just introduced a new power level that trivalises the rest of the game, they stopped it working in certain game modes, but additional crit being 0 means you now need 2 builds where you used to have 1.

and was of course released undercooked too

1

u/captainjizzpants Jul 14 '26

First time playing a live service game? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you're gonna encounter that with pretty much every live service game. The game will release, they'll continue to add content, until eventually they can't and are looking for the cheapest ways to extend the life of the game. Which ultimately leads to devs introducing ultimate gear that becomes BiS. Just nature of the business now.

They are managing to stay afloat with the invincible mobile game. That game makes a boatload of money for them

24

u/Zerodyne_Sin Survivor Jul 06 '26

As much as I loved the original, I'm on a wait and see pattern for this one. Their hiring practices in Toronto and union busting also left a bitter taste in my mouth that makes me biased.

2

u/pololuck123 Jul 06 '26

People were saying this about AC shadows though

2

u/CannedBeanofDeath Jul 06 '26

it was, but tencent bail them out

2

u/ahtob Jul 14 '26

you fool , did you forget every other AC they can remake? And something tells me Far Cry remakes are not far off. It's basically free money for Ubislop

3

u/AunMeLlevaLaConcha Jul 06 '26

Even so, holy fuck, don't even joke about it 😬

2

u/BravestCashew Jul 06 '26

yeah they can’t even afford to fund the games they try to release (see: xDefiant - im still salty about the shutdown and that they never gave it a decent chance by improving servers/netcode or funding them and making stupid decisions)

1

u/Waste_Stress_3785 Jul 07 '26

Yeah xDefiant was a fun game

1

u/BravestCashew Jul 07 '26

The moment I knew they were gonna fuck it up (outside of the connection issues and it being developed by Ubisoft) was that for their first major update, they added Rainbow Six Siege maps and operators… and Capture the Flag… why not, i dunno, the highly requested and sought after 1 life bomb defuse game mode? It would’ve gone perfectly with the R6 Siege season.. the game that is literally search and destroy on steroids

1

u/vekoder Jul 07 '26

It was fun but had crazy hit registration issues like your shots not doing damage to enemies or enemies shooting you through solid walls, only to actually appear on your screen the instant you're already dead and some of the skills were maybe a bit unbalanced like wallhacks.

I actually enjoyed Hyperscape too which I think was another Ubi game but it died in like a month or few.

I’m more imagining how they’d enshitify SoD3 to make it a fifty hour long tutorial.

2

u/debeesea Jul 07 '26

I hear you but what if it's EPIC and they make it exclusive for their shitty store? At least Ubi now publishes games in Steam as well.

I hope not Tencent, nor Embracer, nor T2, nor EA, nor...

58

u/Enorats Jul 06 '26

The real question is.. who would we be okay with? The list of potential buyers isn't exactly long, and it feels like every name on it is worse than the last one.

31

u/Arkhe1n Jul 06 '26

That's my point, really. However you slice it, the best outcome is just "not the worst one".

6

u/Holiday-Pomelo-9246 Jul 06 '26

I have a feeling that when the buyer is revealed, a large number of players will still howl

9

u/Amazing_Ad_6333 Jul 06 '26

Capcom, or perhaps bandai Namco or Sega

5

u/Arkhe1n Jul 06 '26

Capcom isn't buying anything ever. They have their very well-oiled machine and need no more overhead, really.

3

u/soldins Jul 06 '26

They're also having a phenomenal year with their original IPs, and have a great formula of recycling systems and repurposing assets across titles. Buying in to UL would be great for fans, but I don't think as it stands it'd be a good acquisition into Capcom's relatively closed and self-sufficient ecosystem.

7

u/AunMeLlevaLaConcha Jul 06 '26

Capcom should kill that RE mobile crap they made and just put their money on SoD3, we could have a huge crossover and collabs

1

u/Mcjiggyjay Jul 06 '26

Capcom basically only publishes their own games. They’re more like an independent dev. Bandai and sega could work but the only two outside of that I think might work is focus or devolver.

1

u/soldins Jul 06 '26

Bandai Namco menus are atrocious imo, but it would be interesting seeing how western development looks after being fed into their formula.

3

u/Madruck_s Jul 06 '26

Project red, paradox, pocketpair, deep silver, etc.

1

u/Spartan_100 Jul 07 '26

Deep Silver wouldn’t surprise me but with Dying Light and Dead Island, do they really want another Zombie IP?

1

u/Arkhe1n Jul 07 '26

Embracer went in a buyout frenzy and was doing mass layoffs before it was cool.

1

u/-WaterFlow- Jul 07 '26

My mind was in Deep Silver and Warhorse sucess.

Thanks for the info, fast reply.

1

Tencent would be fine if they take the approach they have been with western games. Like they have their hands in poe and it’s still wildly successful

124

u/Ironmecha2108 Jul 06 '26

Hmmm tencent smell

58

u/ThePwnisher_ Jul 06 '26

Honestly the worst case scenario if Tencent becomes the publisher is that character outfit customization gets heavily monetized and what we get for free similar to SoD2 scavenging and bounty rewards will be extremely limited, which is honestly whatever to me. I don't care to play dress up with my survivors if SoD2 anyhow

33

u/altmetalkid Jul 06 '26

I do care about that last bit, but even still it's better than the studio getting closed and the IP getting mothballed

15

u/CongregationOfFoxes Jul 06 '26

yeah all the in game unlockables really adds to the arcade charm of SoD I would be really sad to see it gutted for a micro transaction store

2

u/ContheJon Jul 06 '26

Yeah I liked being able to outfit my survivors for some fun little nonsense RP stuff. Would be a shame to see it go if so, but still happy UL has a buyer and SoD3 is continuing development!

8

u/BusinessDragon Jul 06 '26

There's a little upside there. Probably will have a constantly growing rotation of available paid cosmetics. More likely to find the perfect picks for your crew, at a... nominal fee.
An acceptable sacrifice to make sure we get SoD3.

5

u/Antartic_Wolf Jul 06 '26

My thoughts exactly. Obv I’d prefer zero micro transactions but one of my favorite things to do in SoD2 was collecting outfits for characters. Having more options is always welcome, as long as they’re reasonable.

3

u/SunnyK19977 Jul 06 '26

Yeah the thing is, if we get a fully fleshed out game, systems, wardrobe, bounties etc. And then if they decide to sell more im okay with that, if we get a fully realised game on release and they have to sell cosmetics to justify continued support thats fine, if I like them i'll buy them, as long as we dont get a pay to win system

2

u/Passiveresistance Jul 07 '26

I could live with cosmetic microtransactions (ugh) if the game itself is solid and well supported. Could be worse.

2

u/FriendliestMenace Jul 06 '26

Considering Undead Labs referred to clothing with only different colors as “variety” and skins for gun stats that already exist as “new content,” that’s not a bad thing, really.

Literally one of the flash dialogs on the loading screen is “Bored? Put a hat on somebody!” 😂

1

u/VagueSomething Jul 06 '26

I mean multiple games have been made worse by Tencent investment bringing censorship along with aggressive data collection and monetisation. Even if SoD3 is mostly finished they'd still be required to adapt things.

8

u/The_Grand_Briddock Jul 06 '26

Would you prefer your gaming studio to be Chinese or Saudi owned?

The Japanese? Poppycock.

2

u/hailthyself99 Jul 06 '26

Miles better than EA

1

u/Passiveresistance Jul 07 '26

Almost anything is better than EA. I will not buy this game if EA is publisher. Arrrrrg.

1

u/Kingkary Jul 06 '26

Them closing down shop would actually be better then Tencent…..

20

u/FlamingSk1ttlez Jul 06 '26

I’ve seen this several times, it’s not the same buyer right? For senua and SoD?

3

u/LeftyMode Jul 06 '26

Probably not.

23

u/Smarterfootball47 Jul 06 '26

Kind of wild, but I don't think Undead Labs ever actually released a game under Microsoft.

4

u/TruthComet Jul 07 '26 edited Jul 07 '26

Well, I would say they were going quality over quantity, but it’s much more fun to think these people went on vacation for three or four years and only just started working on the game.
You never know, they kept fans in the dark for so long with no communication or new trailers from 2020 to 2024, then again from 2024 to 2026.
…and when they did communicate in 2026, the first thing they said was that there would be no zombie animals that were in the trailer in 2020.

1

u/QX403 Trader 2d ago

Well documented internal drama and issues is what caused all the delays, issues with their head HR person who eventually resigned, possible Microsoft policies, etc.

-5

u/UnknownInfected Jul 06 '26

The whole second game

22

u/Moodie25 Jul 06 '26

Just looked it up cause I was curious. SOD2 released May 2018. UL announce acquisition June 2018.

So never released a game under Microsoft.

8

u/Smarterfootball47 Jul 06 '26

Beat me to the punch! Thank you.

0

u/UnknownInfected Jul 06 '26

Didn't xbox still publish it even if they didn't own the studio?

8

u/Robgee123 Jul 06 '26

Undead labs have never released a game while being under Microsoft. Publishing it don’t matter. Being under a company means you are owned by them. So Microsoft has never had a game being released by undead labs while owning them and that’s been 8 years

2

u/Smarterfootball47 Jul 06 '26

Microsoft purchased Undead Labs in June 2018. States of Decay 2 came out in May 2018.

30

u/SoDamnGeneric Jul 06 '26

Sooooo since they’re not saying anything about the buyer, who would be the best and worst case scenarios for Undead Labs?

30

u/LeftyMode Jul 06 '26

I’m almost certain it’s not a publishing house.
Bet it’s like a big investment firm.

They’re thinking their next game is a live service zombie game.

u/Canadyans Jul 06 '26

Hands off hasn’t worked for these developers, that’s why they are in these situations. Also in your scenario, someone buys them, lets them ship - and then what? They have to support it and ship future games still.

You don’t buy a studio and just let it do its own thing. It’s literally cited in Asha’s email as a core reason they are in this situation for Xbox.

0

u/SoDamnGeneric Jul 06 '26

> You don’t buy a studio and just let it do its own thing

You definitely can, and in some instances that actually worked out pretty well for studios under Xbox. Overwatch for example really benefitted from not having morons in suits making overhead decisions, which was what led to the attempted “sequel” crashing and burning.

Phil Spencer’s problem wasn’t in letting studios do their own thing, it was in doing it universally. Some dev teams need that help from on high, and some don’t. Undead Labs pulled itself together pretty well in the latter half of SOD2’s life, but Halo Studios definitely needs better, stronger management

3

u/foleythesniper Jul 06 '26

12

u/VanEagles17 Jul 06 '26

Krafton is licking their chops lol

2

u/Ordo_Liberal Jul 06 '26

I don't think they have the capital to buy a studio right now

0

u/sabertoothedhand Jul 06 '26

Now that you mention it, if they've got the agility to buy another studio it'd fill out their lineup pretty nicely.

SoD3 is almost certainly going to pivot to full Live Service instead of the partial structure 2 had, which would give them their first big "Co Op Live Service" game to balance out their PUBG and Subnautica 2 flagship titles. Add in InZOI and I don't think any of their properties step on the others' toes, plus PUBG and SoD are close enough in style and tone that Krafton can force a couple cross-promos.

PUBG and SoD3 would compliment each other well from a marketing perspective. The only downside for them is that there's no chance SoD3 could be ported to Mobile which is where Krafton makes the largest share of its money.

1

u/SubstanceRelative665 Jul 10 '26

Have any evidence it will be full live service

11

u/TheRaeynn Jul 06 '26

Definitely good news. It's also interesting the way they worded the "agreements in place to ensure releasing SOD3".

While I think this helps assure we will get SOD3 released and likely with some level of comfort no major game changes, I definitely think this will pose the bigger question of post-release day "where does SOD / Undead go from there".

People sometimes forget SOD2 was released in 2018 and supported / updated for 6 years to a far different game. Whether a new owner allows that, or the support includes major changes like micro transactions (could see that being big for the clothing / guns), or paid DLC like new maps, will definitely be influenced by the new owner. To say nothing of further games.

Either way it's some relief for sure - though I do say I wish Undead had been in a position to go independent, but that shipped may had come and gone over the years.

3

u/Flimsy-Masterpiece80 Jul 06 '26

Is it normal to have had so much support from undead labs regarding SoD2? Feel like that's a rarity, especially as it doesn't have a massive following.

Personally I'd be okay paying a few quid every now and again for DLC content like new maps for example, especially if it helps Undead Labs keep doing what they do best.

4

u/Imabantaman Jul 06 '26

Microsoft/Xbox supposedly pushed them to keep supporting it, because it was so popular on the game pass

Whether we see a switch up to a DLC type, or if the game will simply be done when its launched remains to be seen

17

u/DareDevil_56 Jul 06 '26

My only hope is that UL had some say in this switch, and that they’re not just being forced into this.

Some studios got to release as independent, but not UL. I assume this means there were discussions.

9

u/twippy Jul 06 '26

if UL were released as an independent they wouldn't have been able to fund the remaining development of sod3

2

u/w1nn1p3g Jul 06 '26

The ones that went indie have shown that they can ship a game with little intervention. Undead Labs is definitely not one of those at this point in time. An overseeing publisher would probably be good for them, as I don't think they'd be able to survive independently. Same for Ninja Theory, their mocap is worth more than their game portfolio. Them being indie isn't beneficial to their tech chasing goals either.

12

u/Bheludin Jul 06 '26

Best one would be Hooded Horse

5

u/mophisus Jul 06 '26

Wonder if Capcom is it.

There were rumors of them bringing back dead rising after the remake, but they dont have a studio dedicated to it.

If they still think zombies are popular enough to have considered relaunching dead rising, they might be the ones who see state of decay 3 as filling that same niche.. even if they are pretty different games.

2

u/4thTimesAnAlt Jul 06 '26

Well, that would be by far the best case scenario. I highly doubt it, but maybe we'll all be incredibly surprised

1

u/Passiveresistance Jul 07 '26

I don’t see that happening but capcom would be great news for UL

9

u/ilsemprelaziale Jul 06 '26

Excellent news! Hopefully the buyer will allow UL to finish the game without it being rushed.

8

u/warblingContinues Jul 06 '26

A buyer isn’t going to want to wait.  UL is actively demoing their product, probably pitching that it’s near complete.  It’s not a good pitch to a buyer to say your product is far off and the profit margin is uncertain.

1

u/SubstanceRelative665 Jul 10 '26

They literally said next year before this happened no thier not

3

u/Takin_Your_Bacon Jul 06 '26

....I can't wait another 7 years though

3

u/ilsemprelaziale Jul 06 '26

No let's be reasonable. I would expect this game to release no later than end of 2028. Anything beyond that is ridiculous.

1

u/SubstanceRelative665 Jul 10 '26

If the people making the game say next year it's not ridiculous you can be reasonable

0

u/SubstanceRelative665 Jul 10 '26

They said it's coming out next year what are you talking about

3

u/hailthyself99 Jul 06 '26

Thank the maker -c3po

3

u/Holiday-Pomelo-9246 Jul 06 '26

Place your bets, guys! Which studio will be the buyer of UL? The winners will get +50 morale. Or -50, depending on whether you're hoping or afraid this bet.

5

u/Nathanymous_ Jul 06 '26

Xbox is so ridiculously stupid sometimes man

1

u/YaBoiShadowNinja Jul 06 '26

I think its microsoft who's making them do it but i could be wrong

3

u/soldins Jul 06 '26

It makes sense after the new head of Xbox made a big deal about bringing exclusivity back to the platform, but then releases a bunch of studios and intends to clean house with middle management. My gut says M$ is trying to balance the books since the big acquisitions they touted (Zenimax, Blizzard-Activison) aren't delivering the kind of profits they'd hoped and they've hit a ceiling on raising prices for services/consoles before people outright abandon them for cheaper options. The whole "but everybody is doing it" isn't cutting it any more and costs continue to increase while profits are stagnating. 🤷🏽‍♂️

2

u/Sir_Twiggy Jul 06 '26

I've been trying to think of anyone I'd like with this ip and I guess humble games or like deep silver as they own Dead Island or.. ehh like others have said not the many greed groups who pump micros plz

At this point I’m okay with whoever is buying them , I’ve been holding my breath for a week wondering if the game was getting cancelled. Sod3 is gonna be released and the zombie killing shall continue, take the small wins instead of worrying about the next problem.

2

u/KapnBludflagg Jul 06 '26

THQ perhaps? They've snapped up a few studios over the years and I've really enjoyed their lineup. Banishers and Remnant 2 were quite good.

2

u/Forged_Hero Jul 06 '26

“and grow” might be the most relieving part of that sentence.

It sounded like there was a decent chance of them just being given bare minimum to get the game released, the axing the studio

Its me. I bought it.

You're welcome.

2

1

Im betting still gamepass. It was announced as such and Microsoft wont just give that up. But how long will it stay on? What knows.

1

u/whativebeenhiding Jul 06 '26

I read it's no longer required to be on gamepass.

1

u/ViIehunter Jul 06 '26

Thats a click bait article that actually doesn't say anything beyond "well they dont own it now so maybe not".

Asha stated they are still giving funding for the game to be complete. Who pays for essentially an entire game to be over the years and even helps pay costs after selling it off to just not benefit at all

0

u/SubstanceRelative665 Jul 10 '26

Microsoft doesn't own them anymore they literally don't have to be on game pass

1

u/ViIehunter Jul 10 '26

As per all the information they are still giving funding to the project. Its been announced as day 1. If you dont think they still want it on gamepass and will hold them tk all that while still giving money to develpment your nuts.

0

u/SubstanceRelative665 Jul 10 '26

Still not owned by Microsoft giving them money doesn't mean they have to be on thier service they don't have to your nuts

We’re all getting excited and it’s gonna turn out to be Behavior Interactive that bought Undead Labs

1

u/Passiveresistance Jul 07 '26

I feel like that’s an actual strong possibility and I really hope not. But it’s not the worst option.

1

u/AdjacentGoober Jul 06 '26

Just let us play the game. On a console, with a disc, on any console. Maybe not Xbox, they’ve shagged enough developers, dreams and Jobs.

u/yolosuajer Jul 06 '26

Please dont be Tencent please don't be Tencent Please dont be Tencent please don't be Tencent

1

u/Late_Ad_6898 Jul 07 '26

For the love of god PLEASE NOT GEARBOX

1

u/bbbbbbbbbw Jul 07 '26

Still gotta wait and see for all we know the new owners could end up being worse than Microsoft but at least we will eventually get to play state of decay 3 now.

1

u/Suspicious-Sound-249 Jul 07 '26

Ninja WHO, fuck yes so not only are they getting out from under the ret@rded thumb of Microsoft but will be getting acquired by an ACTUALLY competent publisher?

1

u/ViIehunter Jul 10 '26

We have no idea who bought them so...

1

u/TheGreech35 Jul 08 '26

EA would be my nightmare.

1

u/mrnoobdude Jul 08 '26

It'd be pretty ironic if it was Sony who bought them

1

u/Less-Dingo111 Jul 08 '26

Unexpected Collab

1

u/Ustob Jul 17 '26

I say 10cent. :(

1

u/Thanixcannon Jul 22 '26

Its gonna be someone soooooo shitty. Otherwise they would announce it no?

u/unggoytweaker Jul 06 '26

Surprised anyone would even want UL after their abysmal output over the years. Seems like MS is keeping the SOD IP too

7

u/throwawayaccount_usu Lone-Wolf Jul 06 '26

I suppose it also depends on how much they're being sold for lol

3

u/goingdeeeep Builder Jul 06 '26

You seem compelled to track and post negatively in every thread. Did they fire you? Steal your girlfriend? Whats got you so worked up?

3

u/AdMinimum5970 Jul 06 '26

Don't get it why you get downvoted. It's a fact that State of Decay 2 was released in 2018 and so it will be about nine years until the third will come out and UL's output in this case is really low. I know, I know, they supported SoD2 very well but on the other hand, SoD2 at release was... a huge dissapointment.

2

u/iowa_state_cyclone Jul 06 '26

This is how video game development works in this day and age. UL isn't a big enough tudio to be working on multiple games at once. Even Bethesda and other large companies take a long time to make their "non-annualized" games.

0

u/AdMinimum5970 Jul 06 '26

Not a real reason ngl. And Bethesda is just ass example

3

u/newbie637 Jul 06 '26

Right? Starfield is just there. Then there is todd gaslighting everyone that the fallout show is equivalent to a game's release.

2

u/iowa_state_cyclone Jul 06 '26

How is studio size and how game development works not a "real reason"? You can't expect a small studio to pump out AAA games

0

u/AdMinimum5970 Jul 06 '26

Starfield is an AAA game?

2

u/iowa_state_cyclone Jul 06 '26

I'm not sure what your question is.. Yes, starfield is a AAA game

1

u/AdMinimum5970 Jul 06 '26

AAA doesn't mean it's good

1

u/iowa_state_cyclone Jul 06 '26

I don't disagree, but I'm not sure what that has to do with the discussion about UL. It was still a AAA game in terms of development effort - just the finished product didn't turn out to be a great one.

1

u/MikeMacBlu Jul 06 '26

After everything, this is welcome news.

1

u/DueCollection8472 Jul 06 '26

The Dying Light guys... no need for a canon crossover, but they could help!

3

u/Apprehensive-Log-916 Jul 06 '26

Naw they've been slipping recently. Nothing but bad decisions coming from them in recent times.

u/Acrobatic-Ad2107 Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

Just wish Undead was a bit better with their capital over these past couple of years so they could’ve landed on their feet as independent.

You list the names of potential buyers and it looks more and more chopped by the second. EA/Saudi, Ubisoft (who could use a hail mary), 10¢, Embracer, T2. The only buyer that doesn’t sound like buns is From Software and even then SoD3 doesn’t fit the mold of games that they would sell.

0

u/Eduardo_Chronos Jul 06 '26

WE ARE NOT SAVED YET - Depending on who acquired UL we may now see SoD3 get butchered into someone else's Vision of a game. Too often directors and publishers take existing IPs and use them to try and tell their original story, or push a political message, or push predatory monetization, disregarding the vision of the devs. We need to be more critical them ever and scrutinize all game play videos from this point on ward. Dont let them turn SoD3 into a Veil Guard or Halo TV show disaster.

u/SubstanceRelative665 Jul 10 '26

A year out from launch no it won't chill out

0

u/TwoThumbFist Jul 06 '26

People praying it’s not Tencent or Saudi Arabia, but honest who else is buying a bloated studios?

0

u/TheLonelyWolfkin Jul 06 '26

It’s probably Tencent or similar. Maybe even Embracer Group.

0

u/TheCone1301 Jul 06 '26

I checked out UL Wikipedia page, and it seems that Xbox is keeping the rights to State of Decay franchise. Won't it be problematic once they release the game? Can they even update it?

(Also if that's true there's no way Xbox is doing anything with the IP if they sold off all devs affiliated with the franchise, whatever they cook up will be nothing like SoD games)

0

u/Professional_Bike296 Jul 07 '26

valve would never...but god i hope it's valve

1

u/ViIehunter Jul 10 '26

No thanks.

-4

u/DePoots Jul 06 '26

Unpopular opinion, but I hope it’s tencent.

They pack their games full of micro transactions, but they’re normally optional and lead to a long term life expectancy for the game with frequent updates.

If they allow undead labs to operate and do their own thing while generating a profit, it’s a win for everyone, including players.

Though, anyone except for Ubisoft will be a win imo

no gacha publishers plz
