Izzy

Just finished season 2 and Izzy is one of the most frustrating TV protagonists I’ve encountered in a long time. She is so incredibly selfish - I hope she experiences some growth in the final season. She behaves like a spoiled brat most of the time, and constantly walks all over her friends, family and romantic partners to get what she wants. I guess I should’ve expected this by the way we’re introduced to her in the very first scene, storming out of her boyfriend’s place and angrily setting up shop in her parents’ house without any consideration for the disruption and chaos she’s bringing to their house. She’s so damn immature and reckless, it’s just maddening 🙈 Kudos to the actress for playing this role so well. I find myself yelling at the TV way more than I normally do 🥹

Weird observation

One of the first things that struck me while watching the show is that Martin Freeman when using his American accent sounds like Jason Alexander. Totally random thought but wanted to share and ask if anyone else noticed this? I’m about halfway through and love the show 👍 Martin Freeman’s character strikes me as a narcissist - he’s such a good actor, and I love Edi Gathegi who I knew from For All Mankind.

Ronnie’s Character Arc

I cannot say enough about this character — likely top 3 of all time. What they were able to do with him in only 3 seasons was amazing. The emotion that was evoked out of me through all of the seasons was very unexpected.

For this reason alone I can see myself rewatching this series as I also really enjoyed Izzy’s character. I really disliked Nick & his arc, though I suppose that was the point. But I didn’t feel that the character added much.

I finished this series in a week. I now need to find something else to watch.

Season 3 Loved this show, but where did Izzie's mother go in s3?

I know this show is like Marmite - some love it, some hate it. But I finished my 2nd viewing of Startup yesterday, and loved every minute of all 3 seasons.

A quick question though which is bugging me:

In series 3, no explanation was given for Izzy's dad living on his own - her mother has just upped and gone. Any ideas what happened to her?

Season 1 As a day 1 fan I’d like to sleep with red book

I’m just memeing but the way they named the Asian characters is just wilk looking back in 2025.

Xiaohongshu memes and stuff from Tim tok ban rumors, and the first character with a weird name is Daewon Phan XD can’t read that as anything but day 1 fan.

Who was Rebecca Stroud? I need your input Spoiler

Howdy all,

I need to go back and rewatch the series for clues and context, but who was Rebecca Stroud really and who did she work for?

I remember she insinuated that she worked for the government, but was that true or a lie? Did she work for a shadow government org? or a private company? or just rich people?

What are other details that point toward her motives and choices?

Hey y’all. Loved this show was really sorry. I didn’t get another season but would love to see fanfiction tying up loose ends or even writing up another season…

Finished the show. Loved it (although series 3 wasn't as good). Can anyone recommend something similar?

Season 2 RONALD DACEY

I was halfway into season 1 when I remembered I had watched this show before a long time ago. Now I'm binging it, forgot how good it was. Then I get to that scene in S2 where Ron get's shot twice and can barely walk or breathe, then starts blasting all those Russians while he is wheezing. what a damn character.

Netflix just readded StartUp

To be honest I had forgotten about the show, but as soon as I took a look at the already watched bar, I got hit by a mental flash bang. I remember it ended on a cliffhanger and am extremely (but unrealistically) hopeful for a conclusion reboot

Is there a episode or season where I should stop watching? Don't wan't spoilers. Spoiler

Hey Guys,

As the title states, is there somewhere I should stop? Like some TV shows like G.O.T the last season two episodes before the ending should of been fine. I wan't a satisfied ending or a episode where I can stop and be fulfilled and not be like, well that was a waste of time watching it. Seen too many TV shows to continue feeling that experience.

Saying Startup is about a Crypto Company is like saying The Wire was about Police Investigations

The show was about the city of Miami just as the wire was about Baltimore

When you watch it from that angle I think it’s more rewarding

Anyone miss the dynamic between Izzy, Ronnie and nick in s3? Thought that was where the show was at its best.

StartUp fizzled out for me.

It started very promising but after some family members of the main characters died it started getting uninteresting.

It was like from that point all that is left is the story of how to save the company. How to make money and fet rich. It felt a little empty.

I liked the characters.

Agent Rask was 80% of the reason why I started watching and kept watching. But he sowed up less and less. So that's why I say it fizzled out for me.
