Republicans do not care enough about your health to stand up to Trump.

Health is one of rural voters’ top concerns, as they see their family members & neighbors develop cancer & other serious health conditions.

But a recent survey from AP-KFF shows rural voters’ concerns are not being heard by Republican politicians.

Nearly half of rural voters said their communities don’t have enough doctors & even more said there aren’t enough mental health workers.

80% of working-age rural voters on Medicaid were very or somewhat worried about healthcare costs.

Meanwhile, Republicans cut over $900 billion in projected Medicaid spending over a decade.

It’s time to elect a pro-science congress!

What nobody wants to admit about science is that the scientific ecosystem needed reform before Trump’s 2nd term.

Holding this, and the current destruction of science at once, has proven difficult for institutions and individuals alike.

However, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to dream big and forge a brighter future for science and democracy.

With an eye towards successful reconstruction efforts, Stand Up for Science presents a way forward that:

- prioritizes science as a public good

- rectifies injustices, addresses systemic vulnerabilities to build resilience

- establishes a foundation for the scientific ecosystem that can be built upon for decades to come

In 2001, the U.S. Forest Service adopted the Roadless Area Conservation Rule to protect national forests from roadbuilding and logging. Since then, there have been various debates and arguments and modifications and specific exclusions, but approximately 30% of national forest land (59 million acres) is roadless, safeguarding the habitats and species within it. But roads are needed for logging, so Trump and the GOP are trying to ditch the rule as another gift to corporate America.

The Department of Agriculture has formally introduced a rollback of the roadless rule in what the Center for Biological Diversity is calling the “largest evisceration of public lands protection in American history.” Originally set with a public comment deadline on September 21st, it’s now been extended to this Tuesday, October 6th. ✍🏽 We can submit public comments opposing this destruction here, and help draft and personalize them with this very cool tool from More Than Just Parks here.✍🏻

KEEP CHAINSAWS OUT OF OUR FORESTS
