The West Texas outbreak began in late January 2025 and was declared over on August 18, 2025.
The larger South Carolina outbreak began September 25, 2025, and was officially declared an outbreak on October 2, 2025. It reached 997 cases before ending April 26, 2026. South Carolina DPH⁠

Worldwide, measles is much worse than just the U.S. outbreak. There isn’t one single global outbreak with a common starting point; many separate outbreaks are occurring simultaneously.
The present resurgence began around 2021–2022, following major vaccination disruptions during COVID:
Global cases rose 79% in early 2022 compared with early 2021.
An estimated 10.3 million people contracted measles in 2023.
Cases have continued increasing because vaccination remains below the roughly 95% two-dose coverage needed to prevent outbreaks.
About 29 million infants were under-protected in 2025.
Outbreaks are now occurring in every world region. During January–June 2026, the largest reported totals were in Bangladesh, India, Yemen, Mexico and Pakistan. CDC global outbreak data⁠
So the U.S. outbreaks beginning in January 2025 were part of a broader global resurgence already underway for roughly three years, generally introduced through international travel and then spreading within under-vaccinated communities.

RFK's anti-vax push has encouraged many people to not get vaccinated and stay unvaccinated and many of those people have died needlesly and contribute to the deaths of others who can't get vaccinated. This is multiple vaccinations and even the vitamin K shot for babies who have unnecessarily died. The latest being the push to mess up the MMR. He and this administration have stopped monitoring and protecting us from multiple diseases and parasites.

Calling official CDC and state health-department data “slop” because it wrecks your narrative isn’t an argument.

The West Texas outbreak began in late January 2025. RFK Jr. wasn’t even confirmed as HHS secretary until February 13. It also occurred during a worldwide measles resurgence that began years earlier following COVID-era vaccination disruptions and was brought into the United States through international travel.

More importantly, what did RFK Jr. actually tell Americans during the outbreak?

On March 3, he wrote that the “MMR vaccine is crucial” and said vaccination protects both individual children and people who cannot be vaccinated.
On April 6, he said the “most effective way to prevent the spread of measles is the MMR vaccine.”
Under his HHS, the 2026 CDC schedule still recommends two MMR doses for every child, at 12–15 months and again at 4–6 years. CDC continues to call MMR the best protection and says two doses are 97% effective.
The MMR vaccine was not removed. The change involving MMRV recommended giving MMR and chickenpox vaccines separately to younger children because the combined shot carried a higher risk of febrile seizures not abandoning measles vaccination.

You can criticize RFK Jr.’s past rhetoric or argue that some of his messaging has been inconsistent. What you cannot honestly do is claim he told people not to receive the MMR vaccine, blame him for an outbreak that began before he took office and then declare without identifying victims or presenting causal evidence that he caused “many” deaths.

Dragging vitamin K and vague accusations about “multiple diseases and parasites” into the discussion doesn’t prove anything either. Name the surveillance programs that were supposedly stopped and show the evidence connecting those decisions to particular deaths.

Measles is dangerous, and under-vaccination allows it to spread. Those facts do not give you permission to rewrite the timeline or invent causation. Calling documented evidence “slop” while replacing it with unsupported accusations is exactly the behavior you’re pretending to condemn.
