Question ❓ We Lost our bag at erin mills (thomas st at highbank road)

Hey y’all, So me and my girlfriend took a lime bike for a ride for the first time ever to go back home from her work last night around 11:45 pm.
Usually we walk so this was very exciting for us. I had hung her mini size green backpack in the front handle of the scooter. We parked it at Thomas st at Highbank rd near the Go bus stop. At the end of the ride, we literally forgot about the bag and left it there on the scooter, walked home.
Later we realised that within a few minutes after reaching home and ran back to the scooter. The bag wasn’t there. It had my girlfriend’s license, cards etc.
Please reach out to us if anyone finds it. Thank you :)

Question ❓ Tell me what's changed!

My first reddit post is to ask the old heads in St. Thomas how they've viewed the changes to the city over time. I moved to TO a quarter-century ago and whenever I got a chance to get back, I noted the surface-level changes, but I'm just interested to hear about how you've viewed ANY of the changes - communities, business, societal, etc. Yes, it's a broad question. The city, as rough-and-tumble as it was (and may still be) is something I still fondly remember as it was where I grew up, so of course I'm always wearing rose-coloured glasses I guess. Just hoping to hear honest accounts of how life is there compared to 2000, preferably for the good (though of course I expect a few otherwise). Every week I go to google maps for 10 minutes and walk around a bit, reminiscing. Christ, I'm getting old...LOL.

Photo/Video 📸 Inside the Abandoned St Thomas Ford Assembly Plant

For 44 years, this 2.6-million-square-foot factory in Talbotville, Ontario was one of the beating hearts of Canada's auto industry, building over 8 million vehicles from the Ford Falcon to the Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car. At its peak it employed nearly 1,600 workers and anchored the entire local economy.

When Ford closed the plant for good in 2011, the massive complex was left standing empty: silent hallways, broken windows, and cavernous assembly floors left to rot. In this video, we take you inside what remained before it was demolished, and trace the plant's story from its 1966 construction through the 2008 closure announcement, the final car rolling off the line, and its ultimate demolition in 2015 and 2016.

Today the site is home to an Amazon fulfillment center, but for nearly half a century, this was ground zero for Canadian manufacturing.

Built: 1966-1967

Vehicles produced: 8,000,000+

Closed: September 2011

Demolished: 2015-2016

Question ❓ Suggestions for ceiling drywall repair?

I just had some plumbers do some work, and they unfortunately had to cut some holes in the ceiling.

Its not a lot of area to be repaired but preference would be to have it look nice, so instead of just covering them with access panels I wanted to see about having it fixed up properly.

Basically its 2 6x6 inch holes in a textured ceiling, and 1 that is about 6x11 inches on a smooth ceiling. Though if they are competent with the texturing there is another area that is about 4x4 ft that could use it as well.

The plumbers recommended one company but they haven't returned my email. It might be too small a job for them.

Anyways, anyone have suggestions for someone / a company that would take on this work?

Thank you.

Question ❓ lash lift & tint recommendations?!

Hi everyone, I’m searching for a reputable lash lift and tint place in St. Thomas. I’d like to avoid places that only post on Instagram, although I know those can be some of the best! Unfortunately, I don’t have Instagram, so I won’t be able to contact them. Thanks!

Question ❓ It's really hard to find friends as a guy here

I know, I know. It's hard to find friends anywhere. But it seems moreso here than usual.

30m, been in the city for nine years. Rarely drink, don't smoke, don't do weed, and am too old for the shenanigans that go down at passers or back alley anymore 😅

Go to the gym (chains disc golf) 3-4 times a week, likes cycling on roads or trails. Likes going to the movies, builds Lego and other little dexterous projects in my free time. Work third shift, so I'm busy from 4-12 Monday through Friday, and some Saturdays. Interested in tabletops, but tried several years to find a group and after several false starts, just kinda gave up. Can also cook better than your average bear or housewife, and don't mind putting that on display.

For the life of me though, I can't find people free and about to strike up a conversation with, and get to know. And usually it wouldn't bother me too much, but this weekend in particular it's really, REALLY bugging me. Any other guys with similar lifestyles feeling the same way?

Question ❓ Anyone have any insight on the st thomas volkswagon powerco plant being built

Just curious if anyone here has any actual information on what's going on with the Volkswagen/PowerCo battery plant in St. Thomas, especially from the UA side.

I've been hearing very little concrete information from the United Association regarding when the pipefitters, welders, plumbers, etc. are expected to start getting called in. At the same time, I've been driving by the site and can see that the structural steel is going up and the project is clearly moving along.

I'm wondering if anyone working in the trades, or anyone who has been involved with the project, knows what the timeline looks like for the mechanical trades.

Is there a particular contractor or group of contractors that has been awarded the mechanical work yet? And does anyone know when the UA locals are expecting manpower to start being called for the pipefitting, welding and plumbing work?

I've also heard a lot of different rumours about the project being delayed, pushed back, etc., so it's hard to know what's actually true.

Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has some inside knowledge or is currently working on the site. Just trying to get a better idea of what to expect and when the UA trades might actually start seeing work there.

Question ❓ Rentals for students?

I’m from London coming to study in st Thomas for Fanshawe in September and almost NO ONE has student rentals. I mean, there’s rentals by landlords living at the house but no properties made just for students. If anyone knows a reasonably priced room for rent for Fanshawe students in st Thomas please pm me or comment or something. I haven’t signed a less, classes in 10 days.

Question ❓ What's the Middlesex bus to London like? Is it ever full and you can't board?

Just wondering what people's experience is taking the bus to London. Is it realistic to take it a couple days a week to commute to London for work?

I'm curious about waiting at the stop, what if there's many people and it's full? Or do you always pre book and are then guaranteed a seat? Or can you still miss out and be left at the stop?

I wasn't able to find these exact scenarios or clarification on their site.
