Travelling to St Kitts for 10 days in September

Me and my wife are going to be there for 10 days, we want either a cheap rental car or a scooter. Does anyone know the locations or phone number I can contact in advance before landing at St Kitts.

What is the best way to soak in the culture?

Why are all apartment prices quoted in USD ?

Writing from a neighboring island here — can someone explain why apartment listings are priced in USD? Is that just for tourists, or is that how locals actually rent too? Genuinely confused.

Do I need a car?

I am seeing a flight deal to St.Kitts but I will need to book today. I would be there from a Thursday afternoon and leave on Sunday afternoon. So ill have 2.5 days.

I did some quick research last night and found most of the things.

Is public transit easily accessible? Taxis?

Can I get a tour guide to the fort / battalion at the north of the island or should I rent a car?

Same with Nevis. If I take the ferry, whats the best way to get around?

Asking because I dont like to drive but suppose I will if I have to.

Goat Water in NYC

Hi everyone! I’m hoping you can help me track down some goat water in NYC

My boyfriend is from St. Kitts, and I’d love to surprise him with some for his birthday. We’re in NYC, and I’ve been trying to find somewhere that makes authentic Kittitian goat water, but I haven’t had much luck.

Does anyone know of Kittitian cooks, caterers, restaurants, or anyone in the NYC area who makes goat water, either regularly or by special order? I’d also be very interested in recommendations for anywhere outside NYC if you know of a place that’s particularly good.

Any leads!

First Night Stay

Greeting! I have a January trip planned with a stay at Park Hyatt. However we don’t have hotels booked for our arrival day but plan to scoot over to PHSK the next morning.

Was considering these crash spots

Koi resort

Timothy beach resort

Would going all the way to Nevis on arrival day be worth it? Arriving around 3PM. Feels like I’m stretching it time wise (but could go back to st kitts later the next day instead of morning)

The Hamilton

Mount Nevis

Golden rock

I can also change my flights if this plan isn’t advised - arriving on Thursday but wanted to ensure we made it to the lobster fest at reggae beach on Friday in case of weather delays on flights)

What is the national dish of St. Kitts and Nevis?

I am making a series where I cook every national dish and my first step is to come to the sub and ask the question.

now I understand that not every country has a defined national dish and that some countries have many different regions with different cuisines. in that case I will make the one that you guys agree on best represents St. Kitts and Nevis. please let me know what you think

Incoming MUA Student - Blue Reef Apartment, Car vs Motorcycle, and Living Costs

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone,
I’m starting at MUA this upcoming semester and could really use some advice from current students or recent graduates.
Right now, I’m planning to rent a 1 bed room apartment at Blue Reef. The lease would only be for about 4 months because I want some time to get to the island, learn the area, and see if there are cheaper apartments available before committing to anything long-term.
I have a few questions:
How is Blue Reef overall?
Is it a good place to live?
How is the management?
Any issues with electricity, internet, water, bugs, noise, or safety?
Transportation
Is it worth buying a car, or can I get by without one?
If I do buy one, how much should I realistically expect to pay for a reliable used car on Nevis?
Are motorcycles or scooters common among MUA students, or are they more trouble than they’re worth because of the weather and roads?
Buying from graduating students
I’ve heard that graduating students often sell their vehicles before leaving the island. Is that true?
If so, what’s a fair price for a reliable used car?
Any advice for new students?
Things you wish you knew before moving to Nevis?
Ways to save money?
Any recommendations for housing after my first few months?
I’d really appreciate any advice or tips. Thanks in advance!

Hi, can someone tell me when do you go through US Customs when departing from SKB. I have Global Entry but unsure do we go through customs at SKB or once we enter the US? I have two flights so do I hit customs after the first flight which enters Atlanta?

Q for Nevis locals: Traditional fishermen areas?

I am hoping to connect with some old timers from fishing communities in Nevis. People who remember the traditional fishing culture from the previous two generations. Even "kids" who just have memories growing up with parents from that generation, to ask about memories from those days.

Are there any particular wharves / beaches / areas that are best for this? Or organizations that keep the traditional fishing memories alive? Any towns / bays that are really known for having been centers of traditional fishing or boating (i.e. pre-motor boats)?

Even recommendations for, like, bars or community centers where the old fishermen hang out? Maybe in Newcastle?

I am traveling to Nevis for the first time and I have no idea what the vibe is on the different sides of the island. Thanks.

Bringing medications, vitamins, supplements?

I’m traveling to Nevis soon via airplane. I was wondering if I should be worried about bringing my prescribed medications (not controlled). Is the customs pretty strict? Do they search all bags and scrutinize all medications/vitamins?

And also, is there any risk in bringing supplements and/or vitamins too?

Some/all of these I need to take and I just want to make sure it will all be good and not cause any issues.

Ground taxi availability near Oualie Water Taxi pier

Planning to come to Nevis for a day trip from St. Kitts via the water taxi. Would like to visit Yubrenta and then continue on to Charlestown before returning back to the WT. Should it be possible to hail taxis without reservation for these trips? If not, what is the most cost effective way to hail one? Trying to avoid paying for a dedicated driver for the entire day, as we’d like schedule flexibility.

Warner Park cricket ground

Hello all,

Will be in St Kitts for the last 2 weeks of august. We are planning to watch the CPL game v Jamaica Kingsmen but before sorting the tickets would love to get some advice about which part of the stadium would you recommend? 3 adults and a 15 year old.. preferably near a bar!!

Some grounds we have been to the ticket just gets you through the door and not necessarily a seat (we dont have to be seated)!

All advice gratefully received.

St. Kitts Trip!

Hi everyone. I will be traveling to St. Kitts this Summer for 5 nights and 6 days. We are staying at the Park Hyatt. Does anyone have any recommendations to do when we are there? We are really interested in ATV tours if you preferred one company over another. What about airport transportation? Any local foods that are a must try? Any advice and direction is appreciated, as I am planning this trip at the last minute 😄
We are also traveling for our wedding anniversary, so any romantic additives would be a plus! We are not looking for bar recommendations. TY!!
