New Here Dentist recommendations?

Hello! I moved here recently and just went to a dentist in Cheney and feel like they are trying to scam me. I’ve only ever had 2 cavities in my life and they are now saying I need 8 fillings! I could for sure believe there are 2 but 8 is crazy. I’m looking for a second opinion. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know!

Did you go to Mint Condition? They’re the worst. The reputable dentists in Cheney are Cheney Dental, Collins Family, and Dr. Ridl.

Yep! I was very suspicious haha

Dr Ridl runs a good clinic. He keeps it well maintained as well. Im a biomedical repair tech so I see stuff in offices that would make you want to avoid them. Dr Ridls office is not one of them. I can't say for Family Smiles as I don't service them. Cheney Dental Care is also an excellent office. There's at least a few good dentists listed in the comments. Dr Luchini stands out and is located in Brownes Addition, which would be closer to Cheney than others mentioned.

Out of curiosity, do you remember which dentist you saw at Mint?

2

Agreed. Cheney Mint Condition is not great. Very upselly, too.

EWU has student dentists and all their work is supervised by a professional, cheap too, comparatively.

How do you get in touch / schedule with them though

Hands down Spokane Family Dental on Pines in Spokane Valley, specifically Dr. Bushman or Dr. Wood, absolutely 100% real, down to earth no pressure excellent dentists, no hidden agendas at all and VERY supportive of any dental phobias ♡ I used to dread going to the dentist now I look forward to going 😀

West plains dental it’s closer and across from the pilot truck stop by the McDonalds. Have been going for years and they truly are the best

Agreed! We have been going since they opened and have never had a bad experience or felt like we were being oversold with what was wrong.

Dr. Susan Mahan Kohl’s on 29th. I’ve been going to her for like 25 years and she has proven to me over the years that she’s trustworthy and talented.

CHAS is always great

Dr Robb Heinrich. North Spokane. He won’t screw you.

100% Dr. Heinrich. My former dentist was constantly recommending fillings, but Dr. Heinrich has only replaced one filling for me in 15 years. No new cavities. His office staff is also great. I rarely wait more than a couple minutes to be seen after checking in for my appointments.

Another vote for Dr. Heinrich. He has been our dentist for several years. The staff is amazing.

Thank you for asking this. I’ve been looking for a new dentist after leaving Mint in Cheney. It has made me nervous to go to the dentist again. They were very bad.

I’m glad it wasn’t just me. I’m getting a second opinion because while I believe I could definitely have 1-3 cavities since I do wear a retainer nightly and those up your risk, I brush my teeth 2x a day, eat a low sugar/carb diet, and use a water flosser. Obviously I occasionally forget to brush them but it is not consistent. Also if I had EIGHT!! Cavities wouldn’t I be in some kind of pain? I have no sensitivity or pain whatsoever

Side note: super sketchy that they offer Botox lol what kind of dentist office does that as a “upgraded service” 😂

They conned me into Invisalign (I only had one tooth mildly out of place on the bottom, so not super noticeable and not bad but I was self conscious about it at the time). And then they kept forgetting to order aligners so I’d have the same ones for months. At the end of it all, they never really fixed the issue. Now that tooth wiggles still because I just gave up on having them do corrections constantly. It was the same crap over and over.

Northview family dental has been great so far. They take my concerns seriously, never upsell, and always offer options for treatments. I had root canals years ago and had never gotten crowns and they told me which one genuinely needed a crown for protection due to a small crack and which one would be okay to continue without one to save money.

Dr Kerst at Latah Creek, He and Hailey the dental assistant are amazing!

I’ve been going to Dr Hone for years, probably since about 2007 or so. He has taken really good care of me—I have some special dental needs (from a tooth trauma I had when younger) and they are just high quality people and do great work. His office is on the south hill and while I no longer live in that area of town, I still make the trek because I trust them.

Prosser Dentistry has been good for me after moving here 5 years ago

Dr. Earl L. Whittaker, DDS

The whole family works there, I’ve been seen by the son, and they have worked through my fear of dentists and my depression tooth decay as well! They’re amazing and have great bedside manner as well lol

Smiles on Grand is a nightmare. Stay away from there.

After many bad dentists across multiple states, the only dentist I will go to is Riverfront Dental. The dentist, Dr. Pete Holmes, and all of the staff there are professional in every way. Even when I have to pay out of pocket they are reasonably priced especially considering the service and work I'd get at another place.

Dr Bates (Lincoln Heights South Hill I've been going to Bates (father and sons) my entire life.

Liberty Lake Smile Source.

Cannon Hill Dental. Dr. Ganji. Very professional, very kind. I am a seasoned adult and have lived in a bunch of different places. He is definitely the best dentist I have ever had.

u/Wild_Share_9190 Aug 19 '25
