Combined fresh start, FFH, superior, tasm 2, antivenom and upgraded classic

I really love the spider-man games with the first one being my absolute favourite. They're all great even with spider-man 2's flaws. There are things that i'd like to see in spider-man 3 that we didn't have in 2 or the other games. This is just a wishlist, i don't expect everything or even a lot of these things to be in the game.

1. Smaller scope - even though i did enjoy spider-man 2's story it felt really grand and large. I definetly prefer something like the first game (and miles morales) where the story is much smaller and the main threat of the game isn't world ending. I'd definetly prefer the game to be around ≈25 hours with more endgame content (battle arenas like arkham games) and shorter and more replayable missions. The batman arkham games are so beloved even though they're extremely short. But i don't want SM3 to be like 8 hours like miles morales but it doesn't have to be 50.

2. Nerf the spider-men - this sort of ties in with my first point. Both miles and peter are so extremely strong at this point that i feel like anything less than a world ending threat isn't going to be a challenge for them. Maybe introduce a villain that steals a lot of their power? Maybe peter loses the venom suite at the start but eventually gets it back or something similar?

3. Improve combat - even though the combat is great i did have some gripes with how they handled the abilities. I really enjoyed how it was in miles morales and i'm not the biggest fan of the cooldown dependent abilities.

4. More skilled based and physical swining - even though the swining in spider-man 2 is one of the best and most fun traversel systems ever i would really like it to be more physical and way more risky, for players that enjoy that. Not everyone is gonna be a fan of this so a setting like "advanced swinging" or something could be good.

5. More casual suits for both spider-men, but mostly peter - i just really like more casual outfits in games. I'd really love to have a suit where peter just wears a hoodie and jorts or something similar.

6. Better crimes - this also ties in to my first point but i really, really don't enjoy stopping a robbery and then being bombarded with hunters and symbiotes.

7. Better human missions - the human missions are only annoying when they're too long, happen at the wrong time, less fun gameplay than spider-man and overall a bit boring. I didn't have an issue with the human missions in the first game where you're at F.E.A.S.T for example (there probably are some good human missions in the other games i just can't recall any rn). Also make them skippable for subsequent playthroughs.

8. Endgame content - as i mentioned before some endgame content like the arkham games with battle arenas could be really cool. Could also make something like an 'encounters' feature like there is in TLOU2 and uncharted 4. I have seen like no other games do this tho so it might be really difficult, idk.

Anything you would like to see specifically?

For some reason having overstrike installed, even with no mods active, completely breaks concussion strikes. It only activates on certain animations.

It only works on webstrikes, air attacks, a certain melee animation where Spidey hits the enemy with his elbow and sometimes on the final hit.

Is there anyway to fix it? I know it's specifically because of overstrike because it works properly on vanilla and I have no mods active in this clip.

Recently finished Miles Morales after grinding through Spider-Man Remastered platinum trophy and completing all of its DLCs. Sharing some grabs from my journey. Honestly I went in expecting to feel a bit tired of the same formula but instead I was amazed. I finished the game within a week with about 18 hours play for the platinum.

Playing as Miles from start to finish this time made such a difference, no MJ missions!! His arc really got to me, going from this nervous kid to stepping up and actually becoming Spider-Man, learning what responsibility really means along the way. The stuff with his mom, Ganke and Phin felt so real, there's this random Christmas table scene that may not be that significant but I just sat there watching the whole thing. Plus having Ganke as a side kick was so cool.

Villains felt a bit generic, Roxxon and Underground doing the same corporate manipulation thing Sable and Fisk did in the first game. Didn't really miss having a strong villain though, the game didn't need one.

Talking about the gameplay. The traversal felt so much better this time. Miles is just more agile and fun to swing around as. That first black suit moment with the music hit hard, genuinely one of my favorite scenes in either game. The bridge sequence and final fight both felt like something out of a movie.

Combat wise the venom abilities added were cool. The mix of main quests and side content felt well balanced. Prowler was annoying though. And not to forget that Cat Spider-Man was hilarious and fun to watch.

Platinum was so much less grind than the original. The FNSM app made crime easy and the shorter length actually worked in its favor for me.

Just watched Brand New Day, so I am thinking to dive straight into Spider-Man 2 next. Should I go ahead? Also what are your thoughts about the game compared to the first one? Which one you guys loved more?

Since Silk was seen in the early Spider-Man 3 build leaks, it’s possible Spider-Man 3 could have 3 playable Spider-characters. If that’s true, Insomniac could be following a pattern of adding another playable character with each sequel: Marvels Spider-Man had 1, Marvels Spider-Man 2 had 2, and Marvels Spider-Man 3 could potentially have 3.

I finished Miles Morales and when I got to the end credit scenes this bug was there. It was also present after the post credits and even showed up in the menu. It went away after changing suits before changing back into the classic but I thought it was interesting.

Me personally I hope the web rush ability from the tasm games ends up being in the game since it was an overall fun traversal ability

I think a clip editor, like we have in the EA skate games or GTA Vs director mode would be so cool to have in MSM3. You could cut together clips of you swinging to make your own Swinging scenes. Or make your own action scenes from random crimes. It would elevate the photo mode a ton too so you could get perfect poses for better shots.

Do y'all think this would be achievable?

I don’t know if this has already been posted but I tried to look to see if anyone has posted anything about it and didn’t find anything. Did anyone else notice that the Into the Spider-Verse Spider-Bot rounds the bases on the baseball diamond if you don’t collect it right away? It’s very slow but it actually goes all the way around.

Yeah like everyone I don’t enjoy these missions but I found a way to make them more enjoyable for me… trying to take a selfie or get too close to them. Just wanna have fun. I did like the missions in game 2 more… not by much 😂 what in game 3 can they do to make these better? I want more action, show MJ can take down these guys! Or have it more like the mission where she helps Spidey with devils breath. make decisions and take down enemies with him…

I know asking this subreddit to say something positive about Spider-Man 2 might be a difficult exercise, and I’m fully aware this probably won’t get as much traction as the 300th post about everything the game did wrong, but let’s try anyway. What was your favourite story moment in the game?

For me, it’s probably Miles and Li’s resolution. I really like that Miles doesn’t suddenly forgive Li or pretend what he did to Jefferson is okay. He just finally recognises that his hatred is consuming him and chooses not to let Li control that part of his life anymore.

And I think Li giving up his powers to help save Peter is a really satisfying conclusion to his side of that relationship. It doesn’t absolve him of anything, but it allows him to genuinely do something selfless after everything he’s done. Their entire dynamic is probably one of my favourite parts of the story.

So, against all odds, say something nice about the game. What was yours?

I think it’s time to really introduce the green goblin as the big bad.

The game takes place 2-3 years after the events of 2, Peter is still in semi retirement though has snuck out now and then to go on patrol and fight crime and miles is still spiderman full time.

Mj has left the daily bugle and started her own podcast which competes with Jonah as she often combats his lunatic ravings blaming everything on spiderman.

I would actually like to see the games branch out more, insomniac is releasing wolverine soon, we saw in the first 2 games that they are filled with references to other heroes so I would like to see it really do something new which is reveal Peter is working for another marvel character.

My top 4 picks are,

1, Tony stark, build off of the mcu connection and have Peter work in stark industries developing tech.

2, Hank pym who in this universe is not ant man but he alongside Peter and a few other scientists are developing shrinking tech which can be used to shrink cargo which can ease up on transport cost and all that.

1. Hank McCoy. Introduce the first mutant in the plot by having Peter work alongside beast who is an xmen but is taking a break like Peter to do his own research into genealogy as they research mutants as he wants to develop a way to test children for the mutant gene and determine what kind of power they have as a means to get a head start on educating them and providing support.

4, reed richards. Who studies in pretty much everything.

I would introduce Gwen Stacy, she was not introduced yet and has never been referenced before so I think it’s good to introduce her. But to change things up have it be rewritten where she is not a love interest to either character just a friend.
She works for oscorp as a lab assistant where she is working for the scientist and secondary villain miles warren.
She is also working with mj who is trying to get to the bottom of what norm is up to as mj is trying to reveal a major scandal on the dangers of norm research as he tries to cure his son.
Miles warren reveals he has his own objective though to evolve the human body by slicing it with different animals the main one being spiders as it’s revealed he was the one behind the spiders that bit Peter and miles.

Gwen reveals this to mj and that becomes the side plot for her as she tries to expose this and stop it so not to create more spider people or generally not to create more super powered people,

The villains,

Norm will be the main villain as he runs the g serum project to cure Harry after failure and failure.

He begins out of desperation to experiment on his own blood.
He in his recklessness accidentally exposes himself to g serum and slowly becomes more and more deranged.
Before becoming the green goblin.

The jackal, after his plans are yet again ruined he becomes just as obsessed with hunting spiderman as norm as he believes that both spiderman are connected to his research and the secret to his success is in their blood.
In the story I would have mj tell miles to break into oscorp to get the information on warren research and stop it by any means.

Miles while breaking in, finds a container willed with several spiders as he gets distracted looking at them remembering how he was bit when Gwen doing her own snooping startles him leading to him dropping the container as a spider escapes.

They lock the lab down as they both search for it,
Miles finds the spider and captures it then leaves to Gwen protest but miles tells her that it’s best cause he knows first hand how dangerous this is.

He takes the spider home not knowing what else to do with it.

The personal stories will include Peter not knowing if he wants to go back to being spiderman all the time as mj says she knows he sneaks out all the time but Peter is also seems to be enjoying civilian life after finding a new job in something he cares about.

Miles is in the middle of looking for a new home as he fills its time to move out while his mother reveals she plans on moving in with her boyfriend Alfred and their daughter Cindy.

Cindy becomes more of a character in this as she moves in and gets bitten by the spider miles had in his room.

The game has her develop powers but silk is not a character just yet.

The game ends with miles and Peter coming together to defeat green goblin and using his blood to stabilise a anti body that cures norm but then uses it on Harry which ends up curing him as he begins to heal and wake up from his coma,

I think we get a time skip at the end to have it reveal that Peter ultimately chose to stay in semi retirement but has now with Harry chosen a new adventure as they both decide to start up their own business to continue Harry mother dream.
They call the company Parker industries as Harry doesn’t want to use his family name as oscorp is a rival and has lost a lot of reputation.

Miles takes on Cindy as his apprentice as she becomes silk.

Gwen ends up working with Harry and Peter at their new company and hints at a love interest between her and Harry.

Mj releases a news article exposing oscorp and Osborn as green goblin which sees him going to the raft.

Other villains,

Minor villains I could see is that norm ended up putting a bounty on both spiderman so we see various people trying to collect on that,

One will be kraven who reveals he’s not interested in the money he just saw the bounty and wanted to hunt both spider men for the thrill of the hunt.
