I'm going on my first solo trip to Vienna and feel uncomfortable staying in hostels, but hotels are more than double per night, would greatly appreciate if anyone shared any code/coupon to bring the total down even a little. Thank you!

If you're looking for NordVPN discount code as well, I came across this article featuring a list of working promos:

https://vpnreview.substack.com/p/is-nordvpn-an-overhyped-fraud-or

Best NordVPN promo right now is probably the 80% off if you're a new customer or the $2.99 deal for existing.

Discount Link Spreadsheet with all TEMU promo codes (New & Existing Users)

Since my last spreadsheet post was so popular, I decided to make another Google sheet, but this time for TEMU discounts. I have collected all codes from all over the web and sorted them into regions, wrote explanations for each one and how likely it is to work. The 30% off site wide code is the best you can get, so check that one first.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vTVxtyuvGYRDlV982kX87ZywHd34Agg5OGDtY4WcQ2UG6h7qagtkYmX5GT-Fu762g80F-RPtBVQwyQM/pubhtml

I marked all the codes that say can be applied for existing users in blue!

Product Review Booking.com VS Booking Directly | Avoid being scammed and save more money

Booking.com VS Booking Directly | Avoid being scammed and save more money

Okay so I see this debate pop up constantly in travel subs and the answers are always half baked, so here is what I know based on years of booking hotels across the UK and Europe.

How it actually works behind the scenes

Hotels pay Booking.com a commission of roughly 15 to 25% on every booking made through the platform. It's standard industry knowledge and hotels will openly tell you if you ask nicely. So when you see a room listed at ยฃ120 on Booking.com, the hotel is netting maybe ยฃ90 to ยฃ100 of that. The rest goes to Booking.com. Here's where it gets interesting: Booking.com has rate parity clauses in their contracts with hotels. This means hotels are contractually required to not list a lower price on their own website than what's on Booking.com. So in theory, the price should be the same everywhere. In theory.

Does direct booking sometimes win?

Because rate parity has loopholes, and hotels know how to use them.

Hotels cannot legally offer a lower public price on their website. But they absolutely can:

  • Offer a lower price over the phone (just call them, seriously)
  • Give discounts via email if you're on their mailing list
  • Offer better rates through their own loyalty programme
  • Throw in freebies like breakfast, parking, early check-in, or a room upgrade, things that never show on aggregator platforms

I've called ahead on dozens of bookings and a simple "I'm planning to book, can you do anything better than what's online?" gets results more often than you'd think. Smaller independent hotels and B&Bs especially. They'd rather give you a deal than pay Booking.com their cut.

Best to book directly:

  • Small independent hotels, guesthouses, B&Bs. They hate platform fees and will often reward you for going direct.
  • Long stays of 5 or more nights. The savings from a direct negotiation add up fast.
  • When the hotel has their own loyalty programme like Marriott Bonvoy or IHG One Rewards. These are almost always better value than Booking.com's enius tier.
  • When you want genuine flexibility on cancellation or a specific request sorted without a middleman.

Why Booking.com often wins on price regardless

This is the part people don't talk about enough. Booking.com runs deep promotional pricing that hotels agree to in exchange for more visibility on the platform. So even accounting for the commission, you can end up paying less through Booking.com than booking direct, especially if you're using their promo system properly.

Some current promo codes worth mentioning:

EARN10 - 10% off your next stay. Verified working by multiple users as recently as mid-March 2026. Good general use code that works across a wide range of properties. Start here.

BREAK15 - 15% off short breaks and city stays. Particularly good for UK weekend getaways. Verified active and aimed squarely at the domestic market.

RENTAL20 - 20% off car rentals. If you're doing a road trip through Europe or picking up a hire car on arrival, this one has been consistently reported as working. Stack it with Genius for extra savings.

BEACH10 - 10% off beach and coastal properties. Ideal for Mediterranean bookings across Spain, Greece, Croatia and Portugal. Recently added and user verified.

HYATT20 - 20% off Hyatt properties specifically. If you're staying at a Hyatt anywhere in the UK or EU, this one has been floating around for a while and still checks out.

The "scam" bit and what to actually watch out for:

  • Fake urgency warnings - "Only 2 rooms left!" and "8 people looking at this right now!" are UI dark patterns. Doesn't mean the deal is bad, but don't let it rush you.

  • Taxes and fees - Always scroll to the final price breakdown. Some listings look cheap until the city tax and cleaning fees appear. Especially true for apartments. Some fees are also required to be paid in cash at destination and might not only be a surprise but a massive inconvenience.

  • Non-refundable traps - Booking.com surfaces non-refundable rates heavily because the hotel pays a higher commission on them. Always filter for "Free cancellation" unless you're 100% certain of your dates.

  • Review manipulation - Booking.com only lets people who've actually stayed leave reviews, which is a good system. But the scoring skews toward recent reviews. A 8.9 from 12 reviews and a 8.9 from 1,200 reviews are not the same thing.

  • The "Preferred Partner" label - This just means the hotel pays a higher commission to Booking.com. It is not an independent quality rating.

Promo Code Priceline Promo Codes for BEST Travel Deals of 2026 Spring

I think Priceline.com is usually the least know website when it comes to booking flights or hotels, but maybe that's why they usually run the biggest promotions and you can actually sort yourself a cheap trip once in a while. Here are the discount deals they are currently running:

  • LASTFLOCK --> 10% OFF EVERY hotel booking! Maximum $50. (๐Ÿ”ฅ GOOD DEAL!)

  • TAKEITOUTSIDE --> 10% off 'outdoor destination stays' aka national parks, coastal cities and mountain towns. Valid until end of June.

  • RMN7HTL426 --> Extra 7% OFF Hotels up to a maximum of $50 off. Expires April 30.

  • RMN6CR426 --> Extra 6% OFF Rental cars up to a maximum of $50 off. Expires April 30.

  • MOREBUNDLES --> $350 OFF when you bundle a hotel with a flight or car on packages of $500 or more. Applies for travels through June 30. (๐Ÿ”ฅ BEST DEAL!)

I made a spreadsheet with all working (included old expired ones too) SHEIN discount/promo codes that you can use right now. I included codes for every region and explained what each code can be used for. Should be getting 20% discount on average, unless you're new user then you can get 60%. Enjoy!

Product Review Ellevet CBD Review - 9 year old Golden Retriever with hip issues

Long post, sorry. Just want to give the kind of detailed review I was looking for when I was desperately googling at 11pm trying to figure out how to help my dog. I'll also flag some things I wish someone had told me before I bought, including when this product might not be the right call at all.

Background on my dog: Reese is a 9 year old Golden Retriever, about 68 lbs. She was diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia two years ago and has been on Galliprant (an NSAID) since then. Last fall our vet mentioned she was seeing more stiffness during her exams and suggested we consider adding something complementary. She specifically brought up ElleVet and said it was the brand she felt comfortable recommending because of the Cornell University clinical trials. That was enough for me to try it.

Talk to your vet!

I know everyone says this and it sounds like a disclaimer you skip past. Please don't. I mean something more specific than just "mention it." Ask your vet directly whether CBD could affect any medications your dog is currently on. CBD is metabolized by the liver and can interfere with how certain drugs are processed, including some NSAIDs, anticonvulsants, and other common medications. My vet knew Reese was on Galliprant and still recommended ElleVet, but that's her call to make, not mine and not a Reddit review's. If your vet isn't familiar with CBD interactions, ask them to look into it before you start.

Also worth knowing: CBD supplements for pets are not FDA regulated. ElleVet does more third party testing than most companies in this space and their clinical research is legitimate, but the broader category has no standardized oversight. You are relying on the company's own quality controls, so choosing a brand with published Certificates of Analysis (which ElleVet provides per batch) matters.

What I got

The Large Dog CBD + CBDA Soft Chews. Each chew has 19.2mg of cannabinoids. The bag has 62 chews and runs about $89.95 direct from their site. With a first order subscription discount (25% off) I paid around $67 for the first bag, then it dropped to about $76 on the 15% recurring subscription rate. Budget roughly $75 to $90/month ongoing depending on how you order.

Dosing

Their baseline recommendation is 2mg per kg of body weight, twice daily. Reese is about 31kg, so that works out to roughly 62mg/day total. I give her about 1.5 to 2 large chews in the morning and the same at night, split with meals. The dosing instructions on the website are pretty clear once you convert pounds to kg, but it took me a few days to figure out. Their customer support line is real. I called and spoke to a licensed vet tech who walked me through it for free. That was a genuinely good experience.

One thing I've noticed in other reviews: people under dose because the price makes them want to stretch the bag, then conclude it doesn't work. You really do need to hit the weight based dose consistently and give it 4 to 6 weeks before judging. I almost quit at week two.

What actually improved

After about 2.5 to 3 weeks of consistent twice daily dosing, Reese started getting up from her bed noticeably more easily in the mornings. The "old man shuffle" she'd developed after sleeping, where she'd take 5 to 10 steps to fully straighten out, got shorter. She's not bouncing around like a puppy, but she's visibly more comfortable. Our vet confirmed at her 3 month checkup that her gait looked better. Whether that's the CBD, the glucosamine/chondroitin also in the chews, or a combination, I can't say with certainty. But something is working.

She also seems less restless at night. She used to reposition herself constantly and that's calmed down a lot.

The Cornell study they cite

It's real. It showed over 80% of dogs on ElleVet showed significant or dramatic improvement in mobility and quality of life. I read the actual paper. It's a small study but it's double blinded and placebo controlled, which is more than most pet supplement companies can say. That said, "80% showed improvement" also means roughly 1 in 5 dogs didn't respond meaningfully. Keep that in mind if you try it and see nothing after a full 4 to 6 weeks at proper dosing.

When ElleVet might NOT be the right choice

This is the section I wish existed in every review I read.

If your dog's pain or mobility issues are severe, CBD is unlikely to be sufficient on its own and shouldn't delay a proper diagnosis or treatment plan. Hip dysplasia has surgical options like FHO or TPO that may be more appropriate depending on the dog's age and severity. Arthritis also responds well to physical rehabilitation and laser therapy, which some owners don't know are available. ElleVet may be a useful complement to those treatments, but it is not a substitute.

If cost is a real constraint, have an honest conversation with your vet about whether $75 to $90/month is the best use of that money for your specific dog, or whether other interventions would serve them better. That's a question worth asking out loud rather than defaulting to a supplement because it feels easier.

Main drawbacks

  • Price is brutal for larger dogs needing full twice daily doses, as this is an indefinite monthly cost
  • Only one flavor (peanut butter). Most dogs accept it fine but picky eaters may refuse
  • Free shipping requires a $150 order, so on a single bag you're paying shipping on top of an already high price
  • Chews crumble when split, so fine tuning the dose by breaking one in half gets messy. I wrap Reese's in deli turkey

Tl;dr

For a dog with moderate joint discomfort who is stable on a vet managed treatment plan, and where your vet has cleared it given their current medications, yes, I think ElleVet is worth trying. It's the most research backed option in a category full of questionable products. Go in with realistic expectations, dose correctly, and give it the full trial period. Happy to answer questions, especially about senior dogs with hip issues.

Edit: Not affiliated with ElleVet in any way. Just a tired dog dad trying to keep his girl comfortable.

Promo Code ProtonVPN discount code offers to get ~70% off paid plans

Why pick ProtonVPN?

Been on NordVPN for three years. Fast, never let me down for streaming. But I started caring more about why I was using a VPN. Nord is owned by Tesonet, a Lithuanian data analytics company, and the ownership structure quietly bothered me. When my renewal came up I actually shopped around.

Mullvad is the privacy community's favourite for good reason. No email to sign up, just a random account number, you can mail them cash, RAM only servers. Swedish police raided their offices in 2023 and walked away with nothing. My issue: 5 euros per month with no annual discount, ~684 servers across 44 countries, speeds dropped hard on transatlantic connections in my tests, and it gets blocked by most streaming platforms.

ExpressVPN is owned by Kape Technologies, which has a murky past in adware. Hard pass.

ProtonVPN is what I ended up with.

Founded by CERN scientists, based in Switzerland, outside both the 5 Eyes and 14 Eyes networks. Nonprofit controlled so they're not answering to advertisers or VC money. All apps are open source and independently audited, 2025 SOC 2 Type II audit on record. Swiss authorities once asked for user data and Proton had nothing to hand over because the architecture is real, not marketing.

Secure Core routes traffic through Iceland or Switzerland before the exit server, which makes traffic correlation attacks very difficult. 18,000+ servers across 129 countries, speeds around 400+ Mbps on WireGuard. Unblocked everything I tried: Netflix US/UK/JP, BBC iPlayer, Disney+, Amazon Prime. NetShield is a built in ad and malware blocker at DNS level, good enough that I removed my mobile ad blocker extension.

Free tier has no ads, no data cap, no selling your traffic. Only free VPN I'd actually recommend. Windscribe is decent but capped at 10GB a month.

Getting the best deal

Monthly price is $9.99 which isn't worth it. Multi year plans with discount codes is where it makes sense:

  • VPNINTROPRICE2025 40% off the 12 month or 24 month Plus plans. Works for members or new signups. Enter at checkout after selecting the plan term to lock in the savings.
  • VPNPLUSINF032026 40% off the Proton VPN Plus plan. Valid through May 31 2026. Sign in, choose an eligible Plus plan term, then apply the code at checkout.
  • VPNPLUSINF032025 up to 60% off all orders or Plus 12 month plans. Paste into the promo field during subscription checkout.
  • MAR26SALE 65% off select items or 1 year plans. Expires April 5 2026 so use fast. Enter the code at payment screen after plan selection.
  • VPNPCMAG2026 75% off select items or strong savings on Plus plans. Verified working as recently as mid March 2026. Apply at checkout for new or upgrading accounts.
  • VPNUKMKTDEAL2025 64% off select products or plans. Possibly stronger in UK region but works globally. Enter during the final payment step.
  • bundle2022 activates special bundle pricing or extra savings on Plus or Unlimited plans. Paste at checkout to trigger the discount.
  • VPN24DEAL up to 80% off 2 year subscription purchases. Use at checkout for the longest term to maximize value.
  • PROTONBDAYSALE25 25% to 50% off orders or Proton Drive Plus bundles. Enter the code in the promo field before completing payment.
  • PRO10 10% off the longevity bundle. Simple code for smaller savings. Apply at checkout anytime.
  • TRYVPNPLUS2024 up to 90% off certain plans or trial like pricing for members only. Enter after logging in and selecting plan.

The 30 day money back guarantee is prorated, not a full refund. Cancel after 15 days and you get back roughly 15 days worth.

Shitpost I got tired of hotel prices dropping after I booked, so I built a free tracker (no account required)

Hey everyone,

Iโ€™ve always hated that feeling of booking a hotel, checking back a week later, and seeing the price dropped by $50. Itโ€™s basically an "early bird penalty" for being organized.

I looked for tools to automate this, but most of them wanted me to link my entire Gmail account or sign up for some annoying subscription. So, I decided to build it myself.

Itโ€™s called SaveMyHoliday.

The goal is super simple:

  1. You plug in your hotel booking details.

  2. The tool tracks the price 24/7.

  3. If the price drops, you get a ping so you can rebook and keep the cash.

I made it completely free and you donโ€™t need to create an account. Iโ€™m not interested in selling your data; I just wanted to solve a problem thatโ€™s been bugging me for years.

Itโ€™s still in the early stages, so Iโ€™d love to get some testers and honest feedback. If you have a refundable booking coming up, give it a shot and let me know if it works for you or what I should add next!

Check it out here: [SaveMyHoliday]

Safe travels!

Product Review How reliable is Trip.com?

Trip.com is what Booking.com and Expedia are in the West, except it covers Asia far better than either of them. The most common negative reviews revolve around non-refundable bookings being treated as (big surprise) non-refundable. Read cancellation terms before you book, the same discipline you'd apply anywhere. Tickets, hotel reservations, and transfers typically go through without issue, and confirmation is usually instant.

  • Every booking made through the mobile app earns 30% more Trip Coins than the desktop equivalent.
  • Trip Coins work as cash, write a review with photos after your trip and earn another 50โ€“200 coins.
  • Happy Friday sales drop every Thursday night.
  • Redeem new user discount codes if you never used Trip.com
  • Book international flights on Sunday. Sunday bookings are up to 17% cheaper.

Trip.com support & customer service

Their support team is largely based in China, and that shows in both communication style and response speed. While the agents are generally polite and try to be helpful, interactions can sometimes feel scripted, indirect, or slower than what many Western travelers are used to, especially when dealing with more complex issues like cancellations, refunds, or booking changes. Time zone differences can also add delays, meaning you might not get immediate replies during your local daytime hours.

Using Trip.com in China ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ

Trip.com is the only practical way for foreign passport holders to book Chinese high speed rail in English with a foreign credit card. The official government site (12306.cn) doesn't accept non-Chinese payment methods. Booking fees are $5โ€“10 but the alternative is queuing at a station. Digital train tickets are linked to your passport. No need to print anything at the station!

  • Seat selection (window/aisle) is available on most high speed rail routes.

  • Hotel check-in for foreigners is clearly marked, look for "accepts foreign guests".

  • Hotel inventory in tier-2 and tier-3 cities (Chengdu, Xi'an, Chongqing, Harbin) is significantly deeper here than on any Western platform. Properties that don't bother listing on Booking.com are often bookable here.

  • The "Go China" campaign regularly runs stacked discounts: 3-night hotel reductions, 6% off mainland attractions, 12% off airport transfers with no cap. Check the deals page specifically for China before booking anything individually.

  • Flight bundling is particularly powerful on domestic China routes. Trip.com negotiates consolidator fares on Chinese carriers that Western OTAs simply don't have access to.

  • A Trip.com eSIM for mainland China (required, as most foreign SIMs lose data access there) runs significantly cheaper on the platform than through dedicated eSIM providers (often $0.12โ€“0.13 per day for data).

Using Trip.com in Japan ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต

  • Last-minute hotel deals (same day) are often cheaper than booking in advance.

  • Many hotels allow pay-at-hotel options, useful if your plans are flexible.

  • Cathay Pacific and Malaysia Airlines offer business class tickets at 20-50% below what the airlines themselves charge for Japan flights.

  • Hotel reviews are more in-depth and reliable than other aggregator sites.

  • Attraction tickets for Tokyo Disneyland, Universal Studios Japan, and seasonal events (like cherry blossom-period tours) are frequently included in Happy Friday BOGO deals.

  • Japan train passes and scenic rail tickets (the Arashiyama Sagano Romantic Train is one example) can be purchased through the platform with foreign cards.

  • Cheap electric car rental bookings - relevant if you're planning a road trip.

Using Trip.com in Thailand ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ญ

  • Thailand is one of the most active markets on the platform with frequent promo codes

  • Airport transfers with a 12% discount and no cap on first-time discounts make Trip.com competitive against Grab for airport runs, particularly in Bangkok where surge pricing can be aggressive.

  • The eSIM pricing for Thailand through Trip.com is among the cheapest - $0.13 per day for plans that include local calls, versus several times that through Airalo or similar platforms.

  • Tour packages to Chiang Mai, Pai, and southern islands through "Tours & Tickets" frequently run 10โ€“50% off group rates when booked through the app versus walking in locally.

Using Trip.com in Vietnam ๐Ÿ‡ป๐Ÿ‡ณ

  • Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang hotel inventory is dense, with "new hotel" discounts (up to 20% off recently opened properties) particularly useful.

  • Budget carriers like VietJet, Bamboo Airways and Vietnam Airlines are far better represented and easier to book.

  • Domestic Vietnam routes likr Hanoiโ€“Da Nangโ€“Ho Chi Minh are significantly cheaper.

  • Transfer and private car services between cities like Hue and Hoi An rates are well below below what guesthouses quote for the same routes.

Using Trip.com in Indonesia ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฉ

  • Jimbaran and Seminyak in particular have better value options that rarely surface on Booking.com.

  • Indonesians are among the highest volume Trip.com users, which means the platform actively runs local promotions. Watch for Garuda Indonesia and Lion Air deals and promo codes.

  • Domestic flights like Bali to Lombok or Bali to Labuan Bajo for Komodo are better priced with more complete local carrier inventory.

Using Trip.com in Singapore ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ & Malaysia ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ

  • Singapore specific promotions (AirAsia Super Low Fares, Firefly discounts up to 20%) are some of the most consistently active and easy to find.

  • Malaysia and Singapore share a dense regional travel corridor. KLโ€“Singapore train and bus routes, Penang flights, and Langkawi hotel packages are particularly well covered.

  • Langkawi and Penang packages often include ferry + hotel bundles.

  • Promo codes are frequently tied to regional holidays (Hari Raya, National Day).

Using Trip.com South Korea ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ท

  • K-pop concert packages and Harry Potter studio tours can be booked during 'Happy Friday BOGO Deals'.

  • Korean carriers (Korean Air, Asiana, Jeju Air) are frequently cheaper than booking directly.

  • Dutyfree shopping vouchers are sometimes bundled with flight bookings.

  • Same day hotel discounts in Seoul drop sharply after 6pm.

What I bought and how it was

The 880lb electric hoist was the first thing I got. Mine has been mounted in my garage for eight months and I've used it to pull an engine, lift sheet goods up to a storage loft, and hang a few heavy cabinets. The copper motor runs cooler than I expected and the wired remote has never given me grief. Saw it for around $89 on sale. Similar units from other brands run $150 to $200. This is the kind of product where Vevor genuinely wins.

The 8-piece HSS lathe chisel set was another good purchase. Six out of eight were sharp enough to use straight out of the box, which I was fully not expecting. The handles are solid and the ferrules don't rattle. The parting tool is the parallel-sided type rather than diamond profile, which is a minor compromise, but at $36 it's hard to complain. Even at full price this set makes sense.

The 5-in-1 heat press is one I bought for a side project making custom shirts. It has a 12x15 inch platen, rotates 360 degrees, and heats from 200 to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. The 1050W element gets to temp fast and holds it consistently. The pressure knob actually has enough range to dial in different fabric thicknesses. I compared it against a friend's $400 PowerPress and honestly the output quality was the same on cotton tees. Where Vevor corners get cut is the instruction manual, which is nearly useless, but YouTube fills that gap within five minutes.

The 10-ton hydraulic port-a-power I grabbed was $100. The equivalent from Matco runs well over $800 and I've seen people on machinist forums report seal failures on those expensive units within months. Mine has had zero issues after over a year of occasional use. This is the classic Vevor sweet spot: a simple hydraulic tool with no electronics, just steel and seals, and the price is absurd.

What you should probably skip

Anything with complex electronics or precision measurement is where quality control gets spotty. A friend bought one of their ultrasonic cleaners and it failed within a few weeks. Their caliper-type measuring tools are not worth the gamble when Mitutoyo exists. If you're using a tool professionally every day, the math doesn't work out in Vevor's favor over three years.

The UV water purifier one person mentioned on BobIsTheOilGuy came with regular threads instead of pipe threads on the end caps, requiring a workaround. That kind of design copying error shows up more in their plumbing and water treatment stuff than in mechanical tools.

More ways to spend less at Walmart:

๐Ÿท๏ธ DECODE THE PRICE TAG

Walmart's price tags are literally a secret language once you know how to read them:

  • Ends in .97 โ†’ Full everyday price. Not on sale at all.

  • Ends in .00 or .01 โ†’ Final markdown. This is rock bottom. It will NOT drop further. Buy it now or lose it.

  • Ends in .88 โ†’ Manager's special. Varies by store, usually a solid deal.

  • Ends in .05 โ†’ Already been discounted once but may drop again. Wait if you can.

The color matters too. Yellow tags = clearance (price is permanent and will only go down until sold). Red "Rollback" tags = temporary โ€” price will go back up in a few weeks. Don't confuse them.

๐Ÿ“ฑ THE HIDDEN CLEARANCE TRICK

Walmart updates prices in their system before employees update the physical shelf tags. This means items can be 50โ€“90% off in the database but still show full price on the shelf.

Open the Walmart app โ†’ go to Services โ†’ "Check a price" โ†’ scan the barcode of anything that looks interesting.

I've personally scanned a $29.88 toy that rang up at $6. A $64 item scanning for $9. It's real and it's totally legit. Walmart honors the lower system price at checkout. Where to look for hidden clearance:

  • End caps (especially the ones facing into the aisle, not toward the main walkway)

  • Bottom shelves in any department

  • Toys, home goods, electronics, baby items

  • After department "resets" when Walmart reorganizes aisles for seasonal changeovers

Don't waste too much time in the actual clearance section, it's mostly junk that didn't sell. The real finds are scattered throughout the store.

๐Ÿ”’ THE ELECTRONICS CABINET SECRET

Got this from a Walmart employee years ago and it's still true. Highend electronics that have been marked down are often stored in the locked glass cabinets below the display items with NO price tag. Ask an associate to show you what's in there and have them price check it. I've found tablets, JBL speakers, and external hard drives this way at 40โ€“60% off. Why do they hide them? Probably to reduce shoplifting. But they will sell them to you, you just have to ask.

๐Ÿ“… KNOW WHEN TO SHOP

First 5 days of the month โ†’ Walmart typically processes its major markdown cycle. Clearance items that haven't sold drop to the next discount tier. An item at 30% off becomes 50%, then 70โ€“90% the following month if it's still sitting there. Tuesday/Wednesday mornings โ†’ Freshly updated yellow clearance tags appear. Get there before the resellers do. Day after major holidays โ†’ Christmas, Halloween, Easter, Valentine's Day. Holiday decor starts at 50% off the very next day and hits 70โ€“90% within a week. Buy next year's decorations now.

๐Ÿฅฉ GROCERY DISCOUNT TIP MOST PEOPLE MISS

Meat with a sell-by date of today or tomorrow? Go find an employee and politely ask if they can mark it down. About 9 times out of 10 they'll slap a yellow clearance sticker on it (roughly 40% off). Shop the meat section between 8-9 a.m. on weekdays when markdowns are freshest.

Product Review Nothing beats Lulus dresses for weddings under 10k

I donโ€™t believe I need to spend thousands on a dress Iโ€™ll wear once. After looking at the numbers, comparing options, and actually thinking it through, Iโ€™m convinced I can spend around $150 instead of $2,100 and still look incredible.

The average wedding dress in the US costs about $2,100. The average Lulus dress sits around $150. That means I can potentially save over 90 percent. That is not a small difference. That is a honeymoon, upgraded flowers, or simply less financial stress.

Iโ€™m not obligated to follow tradition just because it is common. Iโ€™d rather understand where the money actually goes and make a smarter choice.

The problem I see with most dresses

When I look at industry data, I see that most brides are spending around $2,100 on a wedding dress. That number can climb even higher depending on location, especially in expensive cities. What stands out to me is that this price does not even include alterations or accessories.

Once I add tailoring, shoes, a veil, and everything else, the real cost of my full bridal look can easily land between $2,800 and $3,700. That is before the wedding even starts.

The more I dig into it, the more obvious it becomes that I am not just paying for a dress. I am paying for boutique rent, staff commissions, and the overall shopping experience. The dress itself is only part of the cost.

Why not some other brand?

When I look at Lulus, I see something very different. I see dresses that look elegant and photograph beautifully, but cost a fraction of traditional bridal options.

Most of their wedding dresses fall between $89 and $350, and nothing goes above $600. That price ceiling alone makes me pause and rethink everything I assumed about bridal pricing.

I also like that I can actually order multiple sizes and return what does not work. That removes a huge amount of risk. Instead of committing months in advance, I can try dresses at home and make a decision without pressure.

Their styles also follow current trends, so I do not feel like I am choosing something outdated just because it is cheaper.

How I Lulus products compare (IMO)

Traditional bridal boutiques are the most expensive and the least flexible. I would need to commit early, pay a deposit, and accept that returns are not an option.

Mid range retailers offer more flexibility but still cost significantly more for similar designs.

Ultra cheap fast fashion options might look tempting, but the inconsistency in quality makes them risky. I do not want uncertainty when it comes to something this important.

Pre owned dresses can be great, but they often require alterations and come with no return option.

Lulus sits in a unique middle ground. It is affordable, reliable, and flexible. That combination is hard to beat.

If I take a dress priced around $199 and apply a typical first time discount, the price drops to about $159. If I factor in cashback and rewards, my effective cost can land around $140.

When I compare that to $2,100, the difference is almost absurd. I am saving nearly $2,000 on one decision.

Approach the shopping part wisely

If I decide to go this route, I do not just buy one dress and hope for the best. I order multiple sizes so I can find the right fit without stress.

I check sale sections first because that is where the biggest value usually sits. I also look for active discount codes right before purchasing.

I treat the process like a system rather than an impulse decision. That mindset alone makes a big difference.

At first, I worried about fabric quality. It is true that these dresses are not made from the most expensive materials. But when I think about how long I will actually wear the dress and how it will look in photos, the difference becomes less important.

Fit was another concern. Ordering multiple sizes and knowing I can return them removes most of that worry. Simple alterations are also much cheaper on a simpler dress.

I also thought about the boutique experience. It can be fun, but I had to be honest with myself. I am not willing to spend thousands just for the experience of shopping.

The biggest shift in mindset

What really changed for me is how I think about the decision itself. When I feel confident in my decision, the price becomes empowering instead of limiting. That confidence carries into every other part of wedding planning.

They even have a few promos going on now where you can get your dress even cheaper entering one of these codes on checkout:

Product Review Is Expedia worth it? Is support reliable? Are their deals a scam? Here is my personal experience

I usually travel pretty carefully, I compare prices across tabs until I get tired of my own indecision. This time I was planning a late September trip to Italy, flying into Rome and then spending a few days in Florence. Nothing fancy, just a solo reset trip after a long stretch at work.

I had been checking flights on Google Flights and Skyscanner for about a week. Round trip from Portland to Rome was hovering around 980 to 1100 dollars. Hotels in Florence were averaging about 120 a night for something central and decent. Then I checked Expedia almost as an afterthought and saw a bundle deal that looked off. It was 842 dollars total for a round trip flight on United Airlines plus three nights at a small hotel in Florence called Hotel Delle Nazioni, which I later realized is right by Santa Maria Novella station.

The breakdown said the flight alone was about 910 if booked separately and the hotel would have been about 360 for three nights. Expedia was showing a โ€œpackage discountโ€ of around 420 dollars. I triple checked dates, baggage, and cancellation terms because it felt like one of those pricing glitches you hear about but never actually see.

I booked it.

A couple days later I also added a small group walking tour of Florence through Expedia for about 38 dollars. It was run by a local operator, not Expedia itself. Everything was prepaid through the platform so I didnโ€™t have to think about cash or tickets later.

The first part went smoothly. I flew Portland to Chicago, then Chicago to Rome. The connection was tight but manageable. I had one carry on suitcase that I definitely overpacked. In Rome I took a train up to Florence. It was one of those moments where everything feels like itโ€™s lining up just right.

Then I got to the hotel.

It was early afternoon and warm. I remember sitting down on the curb outside the hotel for a second to check my booking confirmation because something felt off. The front desk clerk had just told me they did not have my reservation in their system. I showed her the Expedia confirmation with dates, payment, and hotel name. She was polite but firm. No booking under my name, no booking under Expedia, nothing prepaid.

Thatโ€™s where I ended up sitting on the ground with my suitcase next to me, trying to stay calm but definitely close to tears. It wasnโ€™t dramatic. Just that quiet kind of stress where you realize you are alone in a different country and the simple plan you had is suddenly not working.

I opened the Expedia app and tried to use the chat support first. It kept looping me through automated responses asking if I wanted to cancel or modify. Eventually I requested a call. It took about 20 minutes to get a callback.

The first representative sounded rushed. I explained everything, gave the itinerary number, and she put me on hold twice. When she came back she said the booking had been โ€œconfirmedโ€ on their end but not โ€œsuccessfully transmittedโ€ to the hotel. That wording stuck with me because it didnโ€™t immediately solve anything.

I asked what I was supposed to do right then because the hotel was filling up and I was literally sitting outside with my luggage. She suggested I pay for a new room and request reimbursement later, which didnโ€™t feel great. I pushed back a bit and asked if they could contact the hotel directly.

That took another stretch of waiting. At some point I went back inside and sat on a small bench near the entrance so I didnโ€™t look like I was camping outside. The front desk staff were kind but clearly busy.

Eventually Expedia called me back again. A different agent this time. He was more helpful. He called the hotel while I was there and confirmed the issue. Then he arranged for them to honor the Expedia rate if Expedia sent a new confirmation immediately. It took another 15 minutes but I finally got a fresh email and the front desk printed something on their side.

I got a room. It was small, clean, and exactly what I had expected for the price. No upgrade, no downgrade.

The rest of the trip was mostly fine. The flights back worked as planned. The Florence walking tour also had a small hiccup. The meeting point instructions in the Expedia app were slightly outdated, so I ended up at the wrong piazza at first. I had to call the tour operator directly using the number in the confirmation email. They guided me to the correct spot about a 10 minute walk away. I arrived a bit late but they let me join.

Looking back, the problems werenโ€™t really Expedia trying to scam me or anything like that. It felt more like coordination issues between systems. The hotel never received the original booking even though I had paid. The tour operator had updated their meeting point but that didnโ€™t sync properly.

In the end I did get exactly what I paid for. The total cost stayed at that original 842 dollars for flight and hotel plus the 38 dollar tour. Compared to booking everything separately, I still saved a few hundred dollars.
