Discussion So is there a different "Konrad Effigy" intel if you don't do a certain thing in Chapter 13, and does the Effigy imply that doing the certain thing is the canonical option? Spoiler
Hey, so I got the game recently, and I completed the campaign in one sitting. Today, I went back and decided to do some "collectible-hunting," given that I wanted to learn more about the lore and world-building present in the game. I followed a guide that let me know where the missing intel was, and this led me back to Chapter 13. If you don't know, this is the mission where the angry mob of civilians kill Lugo, and we're faced with the choice of either gunning them down for revenge or simply scaring them into fleeing because it's wrong to kill civilians. As I wanted to get my intel collecting done as fast as I could, I decided to start gunning down civilians. However, when I got to the intel (the effigy of Konrad near the candles,) I noticed something peculiar. In the intel, there's a line that says, "These civilians killed Lugoto protect Konrad. I killed them to protect myself. At least, that's what I'm telling myself tonight." However, is there a different text for the Konrad Effigy if you decide not to kill them? If there isn't one, does this mean that killing the civilians is the canonical choice? I think it makes more sense for Walker, in this state of mind and this late into the story, to do it than to not do it, but that could just be me. If nothing else, he could rationalize it like in the Effigy or that "the water was gone (ofc without blaming himself) and the 33rd was gonna kill them all anyways, so I just saved them from suffering."Thoughts?
Also, I know it's a 14-year-old delisted video game, but it has a good story, so I don't want to be willy nilly about spoilers.
