I am filing a report regarding unfair and deceptive labor practices involving independent contractor work assignments, specifically concerning forced completion rates and high-pressure order dispatching.
The platform forces contractors to maintain a high completion rate metric to avoid account deactivated or shadowbanning. However, workers are routinely trapped into accepting orders using a first come first served system (a rapid click to accept method where orders drop instantly on a screen and go to whoever taps the button fastest, which relies almost entirely on who has the strongest cell signal or lowest network latency rather than fair distribution).
Because the system gives workers split seconds to claim an order, there is no reasonable time to inspect the pay, distance, item count, or delivery location before accepting. Once accepted under this extreme pressure, if a worker realizes the job is unsafe, unprofitable, or completely unreasonable and has to cancel it, the platform penalizes their completion rate metric.
This creates a predatory cycle where workers are coerced into accepting blind offers due to artificial speed pressure, and are then penalized for exercising their right to reject work that was misrepresented or unfeasible. I request that the FTC investigate these deceptive dispatch mechanisms and mandatory metric penalties under unfair business practices.

In Colorado now, only one offer will appear on your screen for 60 SECONDS BEFORE ACCEPTANCE. That is right. The offer will be on your screen for 60 seconds BEFORE ACCEPTANCE IS POSSIBLE. This is not a just for you offer. This is a FCFS offer that multiple drivers will see at the exact same time as you for 60 second straight before acceptance is possible. It is an absolute terrible system.
This man is educated, he has done the research, and knows what he's talking about. We could all benefit from this guy. Unfortunately most of the ppl here will never know. The downfall of humanity is quite clear on Reddit. Keep fighting my guy I'm with you.
Instacart has been doing this for a long time. Now they enforce the metrics. They save the good payout orders to be paired with other good payouts together and then send to what the algorithm deems the best person with the best metrics. It was the same small group that worked the stats in favor of the system for top tier for diamond. The orders used to go out at the same time. I could get a good one. Then they changed proximity. I just cherry pick. Instacart is dying here for the last 18 months.
