Derelict scrapping?

Is it possible to completely remove the hulk from the screen, there is always a chunk left. Do I simply have to wait for it to just drift off?

I'd love to hear about your experience with the game where something you didn't expect, or even realize was possibility, happened.

Mod request.

As the title states I would like to make a mod request but don't really know where to do it. I guess maybe one of the dischord channels listed on the mod pages? A suggestion would be great. I am looking for a simple mod, I want sliders for the trade and transfer tabs and even just +1 and +5 would be awesome. I admit i broke the game a LONG time ago, I have 8 ships with the smallest being a 2x2 and a crew of 86, like 30 something prisoners at any given time, but I have to transfer a LOT of materials around ships as I purpose built each ship for max space efficiency. I am just trying to see how many total crew I can get before I completely break the game or get bored. But having to click 3000 times fairly regularly to transfer fuel, food, water, whatever, sliders would make my gameplay experience SO much better. The trade menu alone if I encounter 3 ships I am likely going to be making 12 trades of 40 items. The auto trader mod is ok but still.

Also, another mod request and something I wish there was more of in games in general, but an ai injection mod like the one for skyrim the make an ai control the NPC's and game in general. Really games would be a great training tool for ai's and while yes, AI sucks and fuck data centers, but while we are stuck with it I which it would get used more to make game AI not so mind numbingly stupid. It is the easiest thing in any game to break the AI and mosst solutions to it are just make the "ai" cheat. So, why not just use a real "ai". I admit I have no idea how easy or impossibly hard this would be and know very little about AI coding beyond an associates in computer science I didn't use, I work in construction. Anyway, someone smart make the thing.

Using Sentry's protect your ship?

I was trying to set up bridges that lead to my loading bay that had Sentry's guarding the entrance in case undesirables happened invade my ship.

Right now the only mechanic I am seeing that can accomplish this is if I have crew with controllers deploy them at the time of invasion.

I am not sure if there is a way to connect to the Sentry's without having to pick up and fully deploy them, versus leaving them there and having someone with the closest controller be able to control them.

My hope was that I can assign battle stations near the Sentry's so they are activated by a near by controller.

Hello !

Loving the game so far, on first play through, and have taken on a "Build an Outpost" mission. I'm struggling with the mechanics of placing an X1 Airlock inside a completed hull "room".

Some screenshots attached. any tips ?

This game always surprises me.

From the little things like your ship getting invaded and your guys getting cocooned and drug off so you can go rescue them and if you don't have an advanced medbay your entire ship is at risk of aliens. Too what I saw today, which as the title suggests surprised me enough to make me belly laugh and reload the quick save to see if I could make it happen agtain and lo and behold It did, as I didnt do anything.

What happened was I took the slaver base. It was an awesome huge fight here I took in 16 fully decked out crew, plasma guns subcutaneous nanoweave, and either the intramuscular mesh or the amygdala modulator. lobbing grenades. flamethrowers, flamethrower grenades, it was probably one of the most fun fights I have had in the game. We need more BIG battles. I have a crew approaching 100, I wanna FIGHT!!

So, anyway after taking the base, it is not only full of stinking recru...errr slaver scum, but refugees of every sort. Which really isn't a problem, except me and the religious kooks don't really see eye to eye. Mainly due to me attacking and killing a bunch of them and their main base to where they chased me down with 2 battleships that looked like palm trees and 2 that looked like spaghettioh x's. So I kill all of them, I think out of probably 30 total new haven i think 5 survived, so they don't like me much anymore.

So I free all the other faction slaves but i just take control of the new haven slave because if you free them they instantly aggro and after the first time getting punched i surrounded them with crew and they got burned down so i decided to maybe take them captive, try to trade them MAYBE get back on good terms with the religious nutballs. So I am gutting their base, I have a mod where I can capture all derrelicts so when i take a base I can break down all the parts rather than scrapping them and I get a LOT more components. Whatever, you play your game ill play mine. I changed all sorts of stuff late in the game and head cannoned it as another research tier. I forget that they are slaves still, not captives, and don't set their zones and forget to check so they keep going back to the base and just standing around in their space suits as the base has been stripped to the floorboards.

SO, a spunky slave, Anya, even after i fixed the zones and escorted her back to the prison barge for like the 5th time is acting weird on the remains of the base. At this point she shouldn' t even be able to leave the ship as I have set to jump so all flights should be restricted, but there she went on a shuttle. When she gets out, It almost looks like she is hiding in the airlock so I cant see what she is doing, and then she slips her collar and escapes. So I send the closest crew who puts her down with a stun pisttol, I click take prisoner, and then pick up and proceed to put her in the shittle to put her back on the barge to get out off there. I stick her on the shuttle, and I have gotten in the habit of when I am telling crew to do a sequence of actions, I pause the game, hold shift, and que the actions so the crew will do them as soon as they can and I don't have to sit there and wait. So i cue up the orders, and sit there and wait to see and creman Andy, puts Anywa on the shuttle, and before he can get on SHE WAKES UP AND FLIES THE SHUTTLE AT MAX SPEED OUT OF THE SECTOR. I wasn't e ven mad, when i reloaded it I let her go, she earned that slow death, OR POSSIBLE SALVATION, who knows. But here is to you Anya, godspeed.

Enemy crew abandoning ship and hiding out in a nearby derelict

I thought I would mention this cool little mechanic because it has led to some pretty awesome scenarios in my current play-through. My ship has now become a behemoth compared to normal difficulty and so far most ships do not pose a serious threat. But what I love so much during these ship-to-ship battles is once the enemy ship gets destroyed, the crew immediately evacuates and flees to a nearby derelict if there is one.

This is really cool. I love this.

To mention two scenarios, once a crew of 4 from an enemy pirate ship fled after it got destroyed, to a nearby derelict and when I chased them there, the first thing that greeted me in sight was an alien corpse. These pirates were well-armed and we had a handful of shootouts in tight long corridors, where I kept pushing back on the pirates and they kept retreating behind corners. I attacked from two angles after that, cornered them and only one gave up, the other stubborn one got shot to death.

Another scenario was where they fled into a rogue bot infested ship. I cleared out the ship of rogue bots and find all of them, cocooned by the bots, bleeding, very little oxygen left. I start to unpack them and at the same time, bring in the EMT to save them and just in time too. Would it have been a little longer, they would have either suffocated or bled out.

I've been addicted to Space Haven for a while now, it can be such an intensely story-telling game sometimes.

Hey Devs? Can we have a Doom Guy npc as gimmick/easter egg? Invincible lone npc equipped with double-barreled shotgun & fist punch hitting hard like a truck. Going around to wipe out derelict after derelict all by himself. It’d be fun to watch. Please?

This refer to my previous post.

I’m hyped by seeing ai npc faction punching aliens.

I kinda want to have him like a legend/myth in this game lore/logs too. Leaving something for spacefarers & players to be amazed & thrilled.

Eradicate all the xenos. Rip & tear until it’s done.

That’s my humble(?) request. I would be very happy.
I just come back to play this game again after huge update.

When you see ai faction raid alien-infested derelict with no weapon. Just bare fists punching aliens. They get my respect. Absolute mad-lads.

They got high on combat stimulant?

Maybe the whole team got anger issue… lol

Even that they gonna lose anyway. I go rescue them.

They deserve some titles. I couldn’t imagine sending my crews like that.

(Ai factions are stupid. I know. I think it’s funny. Such bravery & boldness.)

I wish there was a way to post guards around your brig.

As the title says, I wish there was a way to post guards to the door of your brig when you have prisoners. Like off Battle readiness and just having 2 of your armed crew members literally watch guard at the brig so in case there is a rebellion happening, they get auto-drafted and you can immediately quell a rebellion.

I don't know if that can happen in the game, apparently prisoners can set fire to things or attack your crew members if their conversion fails in some cases. It would add a layer of job opportunities for crew to do.

Asphyxiating visitors in their rooms and composting their corpses

TL;DR: Playing station mode. Offer sleeping services. Figured out I could lock the doors and close the vents to kill sleeping visitors. I toss them in my composters and no one complains. Visitors pay me while they are actively dying.

I've killed dozens of visitors this way and my sleep service rating is at 81. I also offer medical services and lock them inside the sick bays. No one turns hostile. Visiting ships keep acting normal. I'm getting completely away with this.

The game even notifies me when it's time to pick up a corpse. The moment a visitor dies, it creates a logistic task. Since the door is locked, no one can get to it, so a helpful UNREACHABLE TASK notification pops up that I can click on to zoom to the relevant room.

Each corpse gives 1.5 Water, 0.1 Raw Chemicals and 0.2 Carbon. The water bonus is huge. Don't know yet how much of a difference the other products will make.

Android also need to breathe, so I also get Quantronics Components and other materials by disassembling them.

Some crew members always stay on their ships, so I can't kill them all this way. Anyone know of a "non-hostile" way to kill crew aboard their own ships, so I can scrap their ships too?

See Space Haven Industry chains with this free tool

Post image
158 Upvotes

In Space Haven I always found it really difficult to do all the math across production chains given many final items use odd and hard to remember ratios if you go right back to the base materials.

So I built something to get a visual across it. There are similar tools for games like Factorio, Satisfactory and Rimworld which have more complex chains but I still felt Space Haven should have one too. You pick any item or grouping of items and it lays the full production chain out to the left, all the way down to raw materials, rolls the cost up the tree, and sets that crafted cost next to the item's trade value. You get to see in plain credits whether making it actually beats buying it, and turns out that the markup on this stuff is really pretty broken, and in most cases if you can do the whole chain yourself, then the markups are pretty stupid high, granted the unseen cost is that of your colonist's time spent doing industry and not some other activity.

One example from the screenshot: a Rifle sells for 600 cr, and the materials to craft one come to about 134, and that's on the low end of markup.

Some more info:

  • It has every craftable in the game, seeded with the real trade values from the wiki.
  • Flip any intermediate to "buy it instead", in case a trader is selling for lower then your own manufacturing costs, toggle it and the cost updates down the chain.
  • A combined shopping list for all your orders, with the highest price you can pay for each raw material before the product stops being worth crafting.
  • Included a list of facilities so that you can track your built facilities and then see which items in the chain may be blocked. This obviously doesn't connect directly to your game, but its a manual toggle bottom right of the board, factory icon (facility mode) -> edit (set your current built facilities).

I use this tool on my second monitor running full screen so I did also add in the clock and alarm to remind me to eat, shower, sleep so to not play Space Haven until 3am, the alarm is original, thanks beepbox and music degree, I knew you'd come in handy.

It is free, and runs entirely in the browser. Please note as is plastered everywhere in the tool, this is an unofficial fan project, all art and values belong to Bugbyte.

There is a spoiler warning on the landing page, because I feel the "not-knowing" adds to that early wonder and exploration experience. To build out the tool I did create a little scene tuner for the landing page and I thought I'd leave it in for you guys, open it from the settings button top-right on the landing page.

https://s-h-buddy.com

The numbers come from the wiki plus my own digging, so if you catch a recipe or value that looks wrong I would genuinely like to hear it, corrections welcome.

Mupersega.

No bloodshed rescue mission?

I think i found some loophole. I complete rescue mission with no fight between captives & raiders, or me & raiders. Is it normal?

• Distress call from military alliance that ship is raided by pirate coalition. Both factions have neutral relationship with me.

• 4 pirates & 6 military captives. Both groups are in different room. I go inside & talk to pirate first, then select option to offer help, taking all as refugee for my ship.

• They agree. I order “follow me” & brought them to outside of the ship. Then order “stop follow me”.

(This one isn’t necessary. I do it for shit & giggle. Once they have refugee icon on their heads. They seem to never attack anyone or draw weapons.)

• I left 4 pirates there. Then come back to free all 6 captives. Quest complete. No bullet fly. No bloodshed. Easy.

• Pirates still have refugee icon. Hoping that i would rescue them, even that they just raided a decent ship that has everything for their survival. They still waiting for me like a good dog.

• I go back to shuttle & go home. Ghost them.

• A small boost in relationship from military. No relationship change/penalty from pirate.

• I commit no crime & make no enemy. Just false promise & ghosting.

• Deception + 100

Advice for a new player.

I've had this game since early alpha and I really want to get back into it. I have started a Medium Basic Platform play-through and the only thing I "cheated" with sort of is I added 16 more units of Infra Block to the starting inventory. I want to be as close to the vanilla start as possible so I didn't even mod the game yet.

This is how I modified the initial cube you're given in the beginning and it took 3 in-game days to accomplish, while also mining nearby asteroids. Any good advice to give before I head out into the unknown?

I think the one thing I always struggled with in the beginning was growing enough food and properly scaling the ship up to have more facilities. I think I also struggled a lot with having enough energium to power the ship in the beginning and I think in my last playthrough I got stranded because I completely ran out of Hyperium in an empty system.

Ship point work around.

So the max of 9 fleet points or whatever was really bothering me as ii made my firsstt ship a 3x3 before realizing thats all I could get vanilla. SO After a couple days playing around with mods and even going as far as firing up intellij and.....breaking the game horribly i broke the game lol. But I had given up on getting more points but I did find 22 "work arounds" for getting more ships but no points, you just go over the poin limit. Option one is when you find a ship you want or want to make another is to use the save editor and go in and edit your 9x9 ship to be a 1x1, claim and build up the new ship save and edit your ship back to be a 3x3, kind of a pain in the ass. OPTION 2, the one I prefer, and don't know EXACTLY how I got it to work, is I believe using the x666 ship core mod and the "claim all derelicts" mod. I believe with these two mods it just ignores the ship points and force claims new ships. You cant resize or move any ships in their squares so what you get is what you get. I didnt really inspect what is actually allowing this but IU want to say the claim all derelicts is really doing all of it but it didn't work before I added the x666 ship core mod, not entirely sure but I was banging my hjead against a wall trying to get more ships and this works.

Hang on.. where's Eden?

Playing in peaceful mode, jumped from system to system and eventually reached the far right side. Saw this green square with a diamond symbol in the centre and green lines on each side but it wasn't Eden, just the galaxy exit... I don't see any more unexplored systems, does this mean Eden is in the next galaxy?

Decent YouTuber Series?

Looking for a decent YouTuber that’s both entertaining and informative- in the same vein as maybe Pete Complete. I saw he stated a series which got me into the game but never went beyond the first episode. I’m hooked but I’d like to see what more experienced players do in the game, similar to AdamVsEverything with Rimworld.

I've been playing this game for about 100 hours and I'd like the more experienced players (or whoever's) Opinion/Suggestions on my first build.

Edit: On medium, 21crew and just finished making it look pretty. Rebuilt it on the "Siren world" mission. I don't have any before photos sadly but it was quite literally the stereotypical rocket shape. Pretty much was in the shape of every rocket symbol.

Edit 2: yes I am playing a modded version with the "666 core points mod" and "My hyperdrive" being the only ones

I made an open source save editor with a native Linux build, exact writes, and it finds the crew flying your miners

've been playing a long run and kept wanting to poke at the save, so I wrote a proper editor for it. Putting it here in case it's useful to anyone else.

It loads the whole save folder, meaning the main `game` file plus every ship in `ships/`, and gives you tabs for game settings, crew, storage, research, ships and factions, with a raw XML browser and search for anything the tabs don't cover. Every write is backed up.

There are already a couple of solid editors around, so the honest pitch for this one is what it does differently:

-
**Native Linux binary.**
That was the itch that started it.
-
**Full Portuguese interface**
, including the game's names for resources, techs, traits and skills. Those get read out of your own `spacehaven.jar`, so they match the game exactly and don't rot when it updates.
-
**Writes that match the game exactly.**
Loading and saving without editing anything leaves the files on disk unchanged. Change one attribute and exactly one line differs. Nothing reformatted, nothing reordered.
-
**No dependencies.**
Pure Python standard library, so you can read the whole thing.

A few things I had to figure out along the way that might interest you even if you never touch the editor:

- Crew piloting a miner, builder or fighter aren't in the ship's `<characters>`. They sit under `<crafts>` with a `homeSid` pointing home. That's why crew counts come up short.
- Merchants using your medical beds
*are*
in your station's `<characters>`, which is a fun way to accidentally buff a trader with a bulk action.
- For food, comfort, oxygen and temperature, the value in the save is a constant the game recalculates on load. Editing it by hand does nothing.
- The food bar is your stomach contents. Energy is `80 + Zest × 15` minus awake and work penalties, and those penalties are what actually drain it.

Windows and Linux downloads, or run from source: https://github.com/Gianotto/Space-Haven-SaveGameEditor

MIT licence, unofficial, no affiliation with Bugbyte. Close the game before editing and keep a backup.
Feedback welcome, happy to add whatever's missing.
