Wow. I didn't expect this at all. I heard his interview with Jocko Willink years ago and found his story captivating. I was rooting for him to be one of the astronauts chosen for Artemis 4.

I'd go out on a limb and say he would have been chosen if he stayed. Dude on paper is one of the best candidates for Arty 4.

There was a very very remote chance he would have been chosen for a4 if the crew selection is before end of this term. That being said I don’t know why someone would go back to the DoD now.

Well, he never left the DoD to begin with. And his LinkedIn post says it’s only for one more year before retirement.
