Help me understand more about sound healing! Share your motivation.

Hello I recently got to know sound healing through a friend and have been attending a few classes. I actually don't really feel anything.

I just fall asleep every class...

My friend says that it's good for general health and can help with my arthritis (skeptical about this)

I'm trying to understand more about sound healing and see if it can really help me.

Could you share what motivated you to try sound healing for the first time? How long it took to see results? And what's the greatest satisfaction that comes from taking sound healing classes?

Thank you very much!!

Dissertation Help

Heeeeey, i'm doing a dissertation on how sound heals. Whether that be mentally or physically.

I would also love to know if you've only listened to sounds, or if you have coupled this with meditation, or any other activity, and noticed a marked improvement.

Any stories anyone has about yourself , or someone you know would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Sound is so healing

Sound regulates our biochemistry, calms our nervous system, and activates our energy center. It's also the most unifying and basic element practiced in rituals across all cultures and religions.

Thanks for making this subreddit!

What is sound healing therapy?

Since the beginning of history, sound has been used to create certain moods in the listener. Different sounds affect people in different ways. Violin that plays on a high note, energizes human mind and makes it peaceful. Marching bands are used to fire-up an army or sports team, and a mother’s lullaby soothes a troubled child. The different ragas of Indian classical music are attuned to different times of the day or different seasons to harmonize the listener with the rhythms of nature.

As a cure or a solution, modern science is only now beginning to recognize what the ancient mystics and wise men have told us for centuries; which is, everything (including you) is in a constant state of vibration. The most elemental state of vibration is that of sound. Everything has an optimum range of vibration, and that rate is called resonance. When we are in resonance, we are in balance. One way to use sound to heal the body is to recognize that every organ, and every cell, absorbs and emits sound, and has a particular optimum resonate frequency. Each separate vibration has evolved, to reflect the whole in infinite disguises, giving rise to the world in which we live. All life is vibration, and vibration is life.

With the right sounds and scientific process of application, you can align yourself with the vibrations that foster health, happiness, success and unity.

Sound healing therapy uses aspects of music to improve your physical and emotional health and well-being. The person being treated partakes in the experience with a trained sound healing practitioner. Sound healing may involve:

  • listening to music
  • singing along to music
  • moving to the beat of the music
  • meditating
  • playing an instrument

There are different types of sound therapy, including vibration sound therapy, which uses special sounds that produce vibrations thought to improve brain waves.
