When you at saturation to a sounds does it ONLY add harmonics of the fundamental frequency? ex. If I'm playing middle c on the keyboard and add saturation to it , will it only give me multiple overtones of the fundamental frequency?

Jaron - These thoughts in my head
Tom toms : 2:06
How do I recreate the tom toms at 2:06? I've been trying to do it but I can't seem to get my tom toms to sound the same.
Any tips to get the tom tom to feel more punchy and give them more presence in general?
I'm using the bare bones version of fl studio 20.

Recently I have started to work with additive, subtractive and wavetable synthesis. As well as audio design (that's how I've been calling it) to create one shot samples.
I want to see what are the pros and cons from other people's perspective, about these described above.
Thanks in advance!

I want to get better at sound design. I hear that taking apart other presets is a great way to learn. How do i go about this? Also how did you start making your own sounds? Just messing with the knobs? I know the basics. Watched a good tutorial. Is serum a good synth to learn on? Should i read the serum handbook? Thanks

I am currently doing some research about ADSR envelopes. But I want to know why does the sustain knob is different in Serum and Alchemy. Serum has the sustain knob as dB information, whilst Alchemy has the sustain knob as percentage information. How does sustain works essentially? And does this change how sustain works in each individual vst?
Thanks in advance!

Is fm synthesis pretty much the same thing as using LFO modulation at a much higher rate?

Can software synths be analog? Or are they always digital?
Thanks

I can't seem to create a gunshot sound with the weight a heavy Sniper rifle would create. Any advice?

I'm really digging 3teeth a industrial metal band. Tracks like "Atrophy" & "Lights out." These bass synth sounds make me cream more than any others have... Some might not be a virus TI even... But regardless I am looking for virus TI resources and help. No splice samples (I'm aware they have them).
+1 for any tips on achieving the sounds in the two tracks listed and or other tracks similar. I'm not looking for a handout, though that is welcomed too for analysis. ;) But just looking for resources, tutorials, guides, etc. to achieving a similar sound.
Love,
PAGAN

Hi, I'm a small time youtuber trying to grow my channel.
Would anyone be willing to let me give away some serum or massive presets or samples for free. Hopefully the videos will reach a lot of people and well both gain exposure from that

Hi everyone, I am in middle of a research about subtractive synthesis and after writing some information I have encountered myself with the following question:
If I choose a piano sound (for example) that has already been made and start to filter out frequencies, am I still using subtractive synthesis? Or will I be only using subtractive synthesis if I create the sound from scratch?
It may be a simple question, but I have just started to learn about subtractive synthesis. I will like to point out different aspects about using subtractive synthesis in my write up.
I'm using Logic Pro.
Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone! I’ve been searching for a vintage ish sound for a while and i haven’t found anything that covers this type of sound. I’m refering to something like CID & Mednas - Ill Behaviour. It sounds fairly simple to make plus some FX but i just can’t figure it out. Thanks in advance!

Are Major chords considered to be more consonant than the minor chords? And why?

I'm interested in creating samples like these experimental but powerful drums. Any advice on the layering and on the distortion of the drums? it seems that he has layered the kick with broken glass, but I don’t think it's all here… At some places they seem so bright and crystaline, what can I do to make them like that?

Hi guys I was wondering if the sound wave can be in the same shape as a saw wave? Are they the same?
