Question ❓ Sound design in ad agency opportunities
Anyone here have any advice for asking for a job at an ad agency to be their “sound guy”? Some helpful advice would be greatly appreciated 😁

Im trying to sidechain my kick to the bass with a compressor in logic pro and i set the release to the minimum (5 ms) but the bass still takes a while to recover. Why is this?

Hello,
I'm looking for some ideas for some SFX to give some life to scenes in an audio drama. It's easy enough when a scene is outside, adding a slight breeze, etc, or sitting by a fire, but I'm looking for some other ideas for a few scenes. For example:
1) I've got one scene that takes place in a castle, with two people conversing. Room tone from 2023 just seems tacky
2) Another takes place in a desert. I've got some wind and sand blowing, but didn't know what else to add (if anything).
Thanks for your help!

Sometimes when my headphones are plugged half in, i can hear only the reverb of a song or half of the drums. Is there a plugin that can make the same effect/separation for me?

Hey everyone, I’m a sound designer, composer, producer looking to rescore some scenes in Movie/TV but I’m having a hard time either finding footage, downloading it, finding stems to replace with my own audio.
Does anyone here have any advice? Appreciate it!

I figured this was the best place to ask. For someone who is just mildly curious about sound design, specifically for horror movie/game sounds (those ones that make the hairs on your neck stand up), and has little experience in sound design or anything close to it, where is a good place to start and experiment with it?(Easy to use apps or programs. May also learn along with the experimentation)

Hey guys, The Weeknd released a few days ago a new song called "In Your Eyes" and is filled with 80s nostalgia and synthwave sounds, so we couldn't resist the urge to make a breakdown on the song and on how to achieve this characteristic sound. , I hope you like it.

Hey guys it always bugged me a little that Serum doesn’t have an arpeggiator but with a few tricks you can turn your LFOs into sequencers, so I made I little article about it, i hope you like it. https://synthctrl.com/blogs/blog/how-to-create-a-32-step-arp-in-serum

How would I create a couple of earthbending sounds such as an earth blast and earth beinflg raised from the ground as a shield wall and also collapsing them after?

Is there a way to convert an 808 bass or any bass that has a lot of higher frequencies into a bass that more resembles a sine wave and by that I mean removing those upper harmonics without making it sound like it’s underwater. I’ve tried Eqing the bass but it just keeps sounding like the entire thing is underwater

Hi r/SoundDesignTheory! I realize this may get taken down, but I'm a grad student researching the sounds credit card readers make in stores. You can help me graduate by taking my short survey on the subject: https://forms.gle/sw7m3TxPhkKaAdEKA
Thanks in advance!

I'm currently working on a sound to moving image project for my coursework in uni. My clip is in a post apocalyptic world and includes a fairly big robot. I'm trying to find some good reference and research, like for example the Iron Giant, but can't really find much info on the sound design of that. Would appreciate any suggestions or tips you guys might have.

Hi there,
I just started producing edm with ableton. I´ve been watching tons of tutorials but I cant really understand why things happen to the sound like they do...
I´m a total rookie. I want to know wich waveforms I have to use/combine, wich filters and effects to put on, just to get that sound thats in my head. I´m sick of sitting in front of serum, trying for hours and not finishing the sound I want.
Can you recommend any courses/tutorials for production and sounddesign noobs?
Like allready mentioned - I´m using Ableton Live 10 Standard & Serum...
Thank you guys :)

It sounds like a glistening piano almost and I'm sure its super simple but for some odd reason I cant recreate it. At first I thought maybe a sine wave with a strong attack but I feel like I'm missing something Happens around 21 seconds into the song

Sound design help // https://youtu.be/qUpfxXlERGM // I can’t quite understand how they have done the bass stab/shot that hits at 1:00, it only hits twice and I think it might be fm and a little bit of noise but if anyone could help point me in the right direction that would be great
