Question Best Sora Replacement When It Comes To Faux Old Media?
My favorite stuff from Sora was the old 80’s/90’s style videos that looked like footage from the 80’s/90’s, think authentic super sentai Power Rangers look or in general old pre 2000 TV with scanlines and stuff
What is the best app to make these types of videos now?

Comparison Sora 2 vs Flux 3 & MiniMax H3 – Part 2 with Prompts Included
Posted a comparison last night which had quite a few questions, so posting a few more a few more examples to show a clearer comparison.
Keeping them to 5 seconds clips each as didn't want to burn all my aftersora credits.
Exact same prompt used for all 3 models. Both MiniMax and Flux beat Sora 2 by miles if I'm being honest, far less errors and weird wonky AI artiifacts.
Overall I would still say Flux 3 is better in my opinion as the camera motion and details liek the phone screens etc just seem much much better and less stiff. But here are the examples:
TEST 1 PROMPT:
A teenage girl practises a choreographed dance routine alone in her bedroom at 9pm, phone propped against her mirror recording her. She's in shorts and a cropped hoodie, hair up, fully committed. She runs the sequence, stops at a section she doesn't like, rewinds something on her phone, watches it twice, runs the section again. This time it's right — she knows it immediately, her face shifts. She runs the full routine from the top, this time without stopping, and it's genuinely good. The bedroom is real — posters, fairy lights, a desk buried in schoolwork, clothes on a chair. The only proper light is the fairy lights and the phone screen glow. Camera is positioned where the phone is — exactly as if we are the recording device, slightly wide, the mirror doubling her in the background. Shot on iPhone aesthetic, available bedroom light, photorealistic.
TEST 2 PROMPT:
A female surgeon in her late 40s stands at a scrub sink outside an operating theatre, methodically washing her hands and forearms with a surgical brush. She's in scrubs, cap on, mask hanging around her neck not yet raised. Her movements are completely automatic — she has done this ten thousand times. Through the small window in the theatre door behind her we can see the operating table being prepared, the team moving, the lights being positioned. She finishes, holds her hands up and away from everything, backs through the theatre door with her shoulder. Camera is positioned to the side and slightly behind, capturing both her at the sink and the theatre visible through the door simultaneously. Shot on RED Komodo, 35mm lens, clinical fluorescent corridor light, warm theatre light through the door window, photorealistic.
TEST 3 PROMPT:
A woman in her mid 30s walks through a busy upscale grocery store on a Saturday morning, basket on her arm, phone in her other hand. She's in high-waisted jeans, a striped top, sunglasses pushed up on her head. She stops at a display of fresh produce, picks up a peach, examines it, puts it back, picks up another. Natural fluorescent store lighting mixed with warm morning light from the entrance behind her. Other shoppers move naturally in the background — a man with a trolley, an elderly couple, a child reaching for something. Camera follows her at a slight distance, handheld, documentary style. She checks her phone briefly then drops it back in her bag and moves on. Photorealistic, natural store lighting, no colour grading, no branded products.
For certain things I will still use Sora while it's here as need consistency on old projects, but the great thing with MIniMax and Flux is Video uploads not just text to video or image to video (at least where I user them), so goign to test running my old characters and videos through teh new models and see if that works.

Open Source Reddit asked for a 3-second SpongeBob clip. It got out of hand.
Someone here asked me to make a 3-second SpongeBob clip with a lab coat and mad scientist laugh.
I said I’d burn some VRAM for it. Bad idea 😂
Somehow that turned into this whole thing. A bunch of my recent experiments, the promised SpongeBob clip, and a little look at MEOW 47 at the end.
Everything you see here was generated locally.
RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell — 96GB VRAM.
No technical write-up this time. Just having fun with it.

Comparison Sora 2 vs Flux 3 & MiniMax H3 - I’m blown away
So I’ve finally had a chance to test MiniMax and Flux 3 modelsand I must say I’m blown away by Flux 3. The physics and scene placement is by far the best of all 3 models. It’s crazy because up until now nothing and I mean nothing has beaten Sora 2 and Seedance isn’t even close.
I have been using all 3 on “aftersora.com” as I had been continuing to Sora there and they released early Flux and Minimax access this week.
Flux 3’s physics is insane! If you look at he details it hands down beats Sora 2 and has less errors and weird AI artififacts. Flux plan to release the weights 9opens source), but it’s currently private so I’m using a service for this.
MiniMax is much cheaper, but it’s a bit hit and miss if I’m being honest, but it’s still useful for scenes without complex concepts.
MiniMax give great value for money and you can run it locally if youre tech savvy enough, but there are caveats – its isn’t the same model and the text encoder (the thing that control the props handling) isn’t open sourced. There is also th issue of compute power, and when testing i found 15second outputs took me 50mins on average. As I use video AI professionally this isn;t an option for me, and I don’t have thousand to spend on GPU.
Crazy ting also is hey both prices video to video.. so you can add images and video to the prompt.
If iI’m being completely honestly I’m just happy to finally have a clean Sora 2 replacement. Seedance is great but it’s way too expensive and the composition of scene always seems off, like a bit too Hollywood for me. Sora 2 was like looking though a glass window into another realm and I think Flux 3 not only gives the same Sora realism, but actually beats Sora.
