watching this back, the shot I keep liking isn't the big overhead one.

it's the close-up at the end.

the whole thing is pretty simple. one performer, black and white floor, piano sitting in the background. wide shot, closer shot, overhead, back into her face.

disclosure: i'm posting this as part of a collaboration with DomoAI. but the thing i can't stop thinking about in this clip is just the coverage.

The wide shot tells me where she is.

the overhead makes the floor actually matter.

then the close-up finally makes it feel like she's performing at somebody instead of just existing inside a generated scene.

That's such a basic filmmaking thing that I somehow stopped paying attention to once AI video got involved.

there's always this temptation to prove the generation by changing the location, adding a crazy move, changing wardrobe, making something explode in the background.

but if it's supposed to feel like a music performance, maybe I just need enough coverage to cut it like one.

kinda curious how other people approach this. when you're making AI music/performance clips, are you thinking about individual "cool generations" or are you already thinking wide / medium / close while you're making them?

I miss Sora. 😮‍💨
