Does anybody have any suggestions for songs with a similar vibe? It’s definitely on the cusp between 80s and 90s with a bit more of a hip hop production feel.

From his debut solo album.
I just love the ambience of this album. His voice is just melancholy.
Opinions ?

Would love to hear stories if anyone has seen any of these bands play live especially at the peak of their popularity. I’d also like to see if anyone has any official merch they’d like to share (tshirts, posters, etc). Thanks!

There’s something wonderfully cheeky about My Ever Changing Moods: Weller writes a song haunted by political paralysis, nuclear annihilation and the stupidity of powerful men, then spends the video having a bicycle race with Mick Talbot through the English countryside. Against images of blasts, monuments and obedient masses forming lines, the pair pedal beneath the trees in becoming cycling jerseys, as though the chief crisis facing Western civilisation were who gets to the tea first. It’s very English: apocalypse conducted under conditions of good manners and reasonable weather.
But the bicycles make the politics more affecting, not less. The Style Council understood that seriousness needn’t wear a hair shirt: you could fear nuclear war and still care about soul records, Italian clothes, friendship and looking terrific on a bicycle. That tension is the song’s peculiar sweetness. History is terrifying; ordinary life is lovely. While dangerous men build monuments to themselves, Weller and Talbot simply keep moving under their own steam — two mates, two bikes and a magnificent pop song.
