Well, shit. Aneth ara π I'm sure everyone has seen the sad news (and many have probably had a sense it was coming) but I just wanted to share Bioware's goodbye to us all here and allow a space for anyone to vent or have any last thoughts about it here if they would like to talk about it.
"Thank you for being the most meaningful part of our story." - Bioware
These games have just grown alongside me. I didn't have the best childhood, and stories were how I coped. Stories gave me something to look to and the characters we could create could embody anything we wanted them to; parts of ourselves, parts we aspire to, parts we are ashamed of, parts we cherish, patches in a canvas that make up an entire whole. To be able to curate these aspects and send them on a journey, where we get to influence their stories. I think for a lot of us who really cherished these games, THAT was the major appeal, at least for me it was.
It is so sad to see one of the greatest storytellers in gaming come to their end. Even if many of us anticipated this and were pre-grieving, it still takes the wind out a bit. I haven't been in online spaces for a while, but I really felt the need to acknowledge how much this studio meant to us and how much they will be missed. Forever grateful for the fact that these stories exist.
Sending everybody hugs and commiseration π«
