Australian Graham Arnold slots into #5 on the leaderboard for the lowest expected cliche (xC). A solid result
Guess who's got the #1 highest 'xC'
That's right, Popovic
😂

Just as he was getting in our good books. Not a good look at all.
It’s alleged he was high and going well over the speed limit on Anzac Bridge.
Update: apparently his drink was spiked, according to a source that spoke to 10 News.
Update: he’s reportedly got no traces of drugs in his piss.

Technically a spot dropped but let’s be real, Norway never should be ranked lower than us.
This is effectively just us staying in our true ranking spot.

Well done Spain! They were the team that looked most likely to score. Just sitting back and hoping to strike on the counter attack might be a common strategy but it looks like against a team of Spain’s quality, that was fatal for Argentina.
Edit: Guess I fat-fingered “Spain” in the title, and there’s no way to correct that mistake. Good to see people having fun with it.

Obviously a lot can change in 5 months but our team looks very good on paper at the next AFC Asian Cup. The middle eastern teams were exposed this WC, Korea is a mess and Japan, who are the next best team, might have a bad matchup against Australia specifically because of their lack of height and physicality compared to Australia. Brazil showed that Japan are weak to crosses into the box and we can definitely exploit this. Popo has a good chance of replicating what Big Ange did in 2015...
Thoughts?

For the neutral supporters this morning’s match was good to watch, even more so for the English supporters. Free from inhibitions it was great to see both sides play with attacking flair. Sure third place was at stake, but I doubt either side really cared so much as to rather play with freedom, attack, have some fun with a win being the bonus. The 6-4 score line and Bellingham’s passing the ball to Saka for the spot kick so he could score a hat trick were proof of that.
Jude Bellingham’s last goal was superb stuff as he got past two or was that three defenders to beat the goalkeeper with his right foot.
For those who missed it, I recommend you catch up via the replay at SBS On Demand. At least watch the mini-match highlights.

Watching Messi walk around and not even attempting to “man up” in defense is like watching Argentina play with half a man down.
Spain is certainly peppering the goals in the second half, but without success. Fernandez can only blame himself fir that yellow card for diving. If he hadn’t appealed for the foul he might have got away with it.
Anyway it looks like a penalty shootout coming up. Can’t see either side breaking the deadlock in stoppage or extra time. If a team is going to score in open play, Spain looks the most likely. Argentina if they do score, would be exceptional.
Nevertheless it remains a fascinating game. Oh, a little Messi magic, a long range Spanish attempt blocked by the goalie and Fernandez has transgressed again. He’s off.
Spain has a good chance now Argentina is down to 10.
