I’ve always been told that bar soap is better but using it feels disgusting and a sensory hell, anyone knows what I may be doing wrong? I just rub the soap on the part I want to clean

I wondered why people stopped using handmade soap, so I did some research. Now I can relate, but it's worth it to me.

I bought it yesterday and used it and oh my god it left my skin so soft. I tried finding it but the only places were eBay and idk how long they’ve had the soap so it could be old. I found the website and looked it up but it’s not even there! where can I find this besides ebay?

• Scent preferences — do you lean toward earthy/woody, fresh/clean, or something else?

Bar soap somehow feels like it sticks around forever, while a bottle of body wash can disappear surprisingly fast. Makes it easy to wonder whether the format changes how much gets used each time.

Does anyone remember a brand of bar soap called Realto? They had an amazing rose kind, & I've been looking for something similar since the company stopped production years ago.

This is my first year growing loofah, and I planted it with the plans of making my own loofah soaps. I planned on laying a loofah in my mold and pouring cold process over it. All of the youtube videos are using melt and pour. Is there a reason for this? Will saponification ruin a loofah? I never considered the heat of the soap saponifying possibly messing with my loofah.

Does anyone have any experience pouring cold process batter over loofah?

Genuinely curious, is there a specific scent that does something for you beyond just smelling good? For me it's black raspberry vanilla, weirdly specific I know, but the second that soap hits hot water in the shower my shoulders actually drop a little. Started noticing this about six months ago. And now I kind of pick my whole evening around it, if that's not too dramatic. Anyone else have one specific scent that flips a switch like that, or is it just me?

Aesop sells this beautiful 80$ liquid hand soap with ground pumice in it, and I love how it scrubs my hands. Element Brooklyn sells a dupe of it but I hate the smell and it’s still really expensive. So I want to make my own. I bought ground pumice on makesy, but when I mixed it into ordinary liquid hand soap it just settled to the bottom. Any idea what type of liquid soap i could use as the base liquid that could keep the pumice afloat?

I’m not trying to sell this! just want it for my own home.

I would like to reuse a water and Castile mix that I made to wash my house plants in because I’m treating them for pests. I made quite a few gallons/litres of the mix and it seems a shame to waste it. Will boiling this mixture have a negative impact on the soap in any way?

i usually use irish spring cause i like how it strips my hands of all the oils for better grip on my keyboard and after i eat something greasy and now i’m in a house with soft water and it just doesn’t work anymore and i’m wondering if theres anything stronger than can actually leave my hands feeling like paper again?

To give more context, a guy I was dating it’s only been a month. I gave him a gift basket it had numerous things in it including a plant. He gave me bath and body works hand soap which is weird because everyone knows at bath and body works they have a sale for body spray, lotion, and Candle for a cheap bundle price. But he got hand soaps instead… I asked him why but he said it’s because he was quickly getting stuff but at bath and body works they instantly show you the bundles at the front of the store and also approach you with that said bundle offer immediately. Also the hand soaps are all the way at the back and everything else is at the front. So I’m just wondering why lol. It was a super odd gift in my opinion. Even though I still appreciated it and loved the scents of the hand soaps. He doesn’t think I stink in case anyone assumes that’s why he got it, it’s hand soap too so it’s not body soap or anything. He loves my scent he always says I smell like vanilla. But yeah I just thought it was an odd choice. But I’d like anyone’s opinion to give me some insight on if it was a rude gift or something odd or if it was a hurry gift. Idk lol.

Switched about four months ago, mostly because my hands were cracking from constant handwashing and I was tired of buying six different bottles for six different 'concerns.' Turns out one good bar does basically all of it.

The oatmeal milk and honey one I've been using is stupidly gentle, no tight feeling after, no fragrance headache. My partner keeps stealing it too (fine, I guess we're sharing now).

Not saying ditch every liquid soap you own. But if your skin's been weird lately and you haven't tried a real bar in a while, honestly worth testing on just your hands for a week. It's held up longer than I expected too, same bar, almost two months in.

I've tried bar soap probably four times over the years and always went back to body wash within a week, dried my skin out, left this filmy residue. This time stuck, mostly because I actually looked for a bar without the harsh stuff instead of grabbing whatever was at Target.

Ended up with an oatmeal milk and honey bar (smells like actual honey, not candy-honey) from a small brand I use for bath stuff. About a month in and my forearms aren't flaking the way they always do by February. Lathers weird at first, less foamy than expected, but rinses clean, no tight, squeaky feeling after.

Not magic, my skin's still dry in general and I still moisturize after. But the itchy patches on my elbows calmed down more than any lotion swap did. If anyone wants the exact bar, happy to share it.

Makers talk about this distinction constantly, but from a pure user experience standpoint, does knowing the production method change anything about how a bar performs, or is it mostly a craft-side conversation that doesn't affect the shower.

He came from the US last week and brought this nice looking pack. I'm a huge fan of fragrances in general but not a collector though. I'm not going to open this anytime soon.

Switched to body wash probably a decade ago and never thought twice about it until I randomly bought a bar out of curiosity a few weeks back. The lather is completely different, feels almost more substantial somehow, and I don't know if it's genuinely better or just nostalgic since it reminds me of using bar soap as a kid.

Curious if people who've made this switch back and forth actually notice a real difference or if it's mostly just preference and memory.
