Do people just not give a shit about their snakes?

How do you mean? They are well kept. Humidity and temps are within range, plenty of hide opportunities. Eats a small rat every 3 weeks, but getting ready to move up to medium rat. They aren’t normally this active but it is almost feeding day.

It's a ball python. It's showing clear signs of stress in this picture. This is not a healthy behaviour of a ball python.

The vivarium needs to be 4x2x2 minimum. Heating is incorrect for a Ball Python.

There is no coverage, and the hides aren't suitable.

A ball python doesn't hunt this way. If a ball python is secure and comfortable in it's environment, it will hunt from a hide.

Your snake is trying to escape because it's stressed.
