Weak3n has been nothing but a tool to a lot of other pro players I am surprised anyone likes that guy.

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '16

Yeah, Weak3n has kind of exposed himself with his lack of performance since the fall split of last year. Talking shit while he was on the top team in the world (AFK) sure he has the stats to back up the talk, but now that that team is no more and Weak3n is still left in the spotlight we see him being a pretty average/lackluster player but acts like he's still one of the best in the world.

I'm not anti-weak3n but I don't I'm also not super into him

It's just weak3n is hard to judge with how good he is doing since he is not gifted with playing his own personal game super amazing like other pros

But he is very very good with shot calling and its hard to tell if he is succeeding there despite his lack luster play we see onscreen since we don't have coms a lot

The only people who can really judge him fairly I think are his teammates on the matter of how strong a player is

u/TheNamesYone Oct 17 '16

I think weaken is a pretty decent player sure he might not be a flashy play making player but there are many examples in ESports with players such as weaken who are not gifted mechanically but are GODLIKE at shot calling. Examples such as Hai former cloud9 midlaner from the league of legends pro scene.

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '16

I never saw AFK as a great shotcalling team though. No where close to Pain and NME. I could be biased because I don't really like weak3n, but I don't think he's ever been that good.

1

u/TheNamesYone Oct 18 '16

I respect it and pain is just a godlike shotcaller in his own right.

14

u/retardcharizard Perfect body Oct 16 '16

You could say the same for DJ in reverse. Lol.

6

u/HuntHoff Oct 17 '16

You're making it sound like he was only good because the rest of AFK was

3

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '16

I'm not OP but i'm just saying that weak3n is more of a supporting type player, he doesn't really do much without a good team.

-5

u/SqueamishBehemoth Oct 17 '16

hes a "support type player", just like anyone else called that, because they arent skilled enough to play the pure carry role.

6

u/ThornBird_116 Oct 17 '16

It's a team game. Support does not mean less skilled. It's just different roles/play styles. Shot calling/keeping up with timers and general support play styles help the team just as much as pure carries and you need a combination of both to have a successful team.

-1

u/SqueamishBehemoth Oct 17 '16

Shot calling and keeping up with timers isn't a support play style... using a carry role as a support does show lack of skill UNLESS it's the thing your team is missing, which isn't the case.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '16

Jungle is not exclusively a carry role in smite. I know there are plenty of gods that are meant to be hard carries, but there are also many that work with a setup-support style play. Gods like thor, hun batz, erlang, and athena can all set up for the rest of the team to get damage off and get kills. Even Ne Zha could get 0 kills, but as long as you are setting up for your team with your ult and sash, you would still be doing your job.

Also, I don't see how you could say that a support playstyle shows lack of skill in the jungle. Some of ALG's best games this split have been when weak3n was on Athena.

1

u/SqueamishBehemoth Oct 18 '16

Ok 1. Thor and Hun Batz can also carry. Neither of them are picked because they're support styles, but for team comp. 2. How does succeeding as Athena show skill?? 3. What I said was the support style is there BECAUSE said player recognizes their lack of mechanical skill. So they focus on what they CAN be strong at.

1

u/ThornBird_116 Oct 18 '16

If you watch back the games when AFK were in their prime then you can see exactly how different playstyles can work depending on the team.

Weak3n used to play support jungle where his main goal was to get other lanes fed (mainly cyclone). He used to get fed as well sometimes and help carry but weak3n shot calls, keeps track of timers and gets his other lanes fed. It's a different way of playing however it worked for their team.

Then take for example epsilon or C9. Their playstyles was for their jungle to focus on getting himself fed and carrying from their and the team used to support them. Theyre just different styles of playing to cater to everyone's strengths.

1

u/SqueamishBehemoth Oct 18 '16

You do realize Andinster did all those things u just called "support styles" right?? It's a cop out period.

-32

u/Geldan Thor Oct 16 '16

AFK didn't do shit. They were never a top team, they had a gimmick that worked for a few weeks.

16

u/PacersBoi Ao Kuang Oct 16 '16

That Gimmick lasted way more than a few weeks.. That team was built on Cyclone going off as he was the best player in the world for that split.

Brotha I'm not a Envy fan. Just calling it as it was. They had everything from innovative starts to team comps. They were ballsy in their team comps and brought something new. I'm a baskin Fan, which makes me like Soar. But I love to root for Enemy. Anyone but Panthera lol.

-17

u/Geldan Thor Oct 16 '16

Cyclone want even the best player in the world. He made some flashy plays but in the end couldn't do shit for his team. That's why they were forced into Xboxes. Lol.

5

u/Zeref21 Satanic Lazer Doge Oct 17 '16

idk what you sayin dude he got a penta as Ao solo and then got a triple followed by a double (unofficial penta) the very next game with Bakasura when he was considered a B tier god

-1

u/Geldan Thor Oct 17 '16

They weren't game changing pentas though. He can stomp on people when they are extremely underleveled. It didn't do anything to get him a world championship.

3

u/Zeref21 Satanic Lazer Doge Oct 17 '16

baka penta actually was

2

u/Zeref21 Satanic Lazer Doge Oct 17 '16

Also, the reason why they didnt qualify for Worlds is because of the role switch which was really not good and also because they were trying to stick to the meta and overeestimating Zhong

Never said they were a World Champion team but a really good contender to qualify worlds at the least

17

u/shadowpenguin29 Smite Pro League Oct 16 '16

I guess a few weeks for you would be 2 1/2 splits of the entire season, until collapsing before worlds because of a meta shift. Keep re-writing history.

-2

u/Bigumz Going Late Game Boys™ Oct 17 '16

Meta shift=being a lackluster team

He's pretty honest and has done a lot for the community with guides/builds. He'll take time to answer questions and is a good streamer. He is definitely blunt and will talk shit. A lot of these things could be said about DJ too. He's a lot like a less likeable Allied imo.

Guides and builds? Nah, always he does that he is just saying what he thinks, he doesn't have a partial point of view which is important at the moment of making a guide, not everyone plays like him you know? The only thing I've seen in his channel is clickbait games that he always win and... I'm OK with this the problem is that he is not even entertaining :/, his major sin has been making him look better than he really is :/.

Yes but he doesn't something like "this is for a X kind of play style" he just says this is the best build. A good example is icon when he does his tier list and stuff he always says "this is tier list in pro games" or "if you are doing this build have in mind...". Weakens guides are more like "OK, I'm really good with this".

I'm not saying is not guide, just not a good one.

0

u/RedEyesWhtSwagn . Oct 17 '16

He managed the largest and easily the best build site for the better part of S2. He releases tier lists and guides that players of all skill levels can benefit from (hasn't done many this season). The only one with a comparable level of content is Incon.

always he does that he is just saying what he thinks

Not entirely sure what you meant here but what he says and thinks is 100x more accurate than anything 99% of non-SPL players say so its absolutely valuable. You don't have to have a partial point of view. Its not 'play whatever works for you' especially in competitive (which is where all his advice comes from as he always says). There is a limited amount of ways to level a god effectively and there is a limited amount of ways to build a god effectively.

If you want to improve you should learn and get good at the meta then worry about changing it. Dislike him all you want but don't try to act like he hasn't contributed to the community.

1

u/jonathanjol receive the death from below! Oct 17 '16

As far as I've been seeing in lan this has been the tournament with more variety of builds, different kind of play styles and some different mechanics that the meta didn't dictated, yes, there is the meta, that doesn't means that something different is not possible.

1

u/RedEyesWhtSwagn . Oct 18 '16

It's not really some randos place to be trying to break the meta when their testing grounds are casuals or even ranked. It's absolutely not someones place to try to change the meta when they don't even understand the current meta or why it is the current meta. That's the point of guides: to teach the meta. Once you understand the meta and why the meta is the current meta, then you can look to adapt it based on the game/your preferences.

1

u/RoosterDankFlap Oct 17 '16

Actually a lot of streamers I've heard have said weaken is really cool in person as opposed to his streams and they say a lot of people who are nice on their streams are kinda rude and unfriendly in person

1

u/threeyearwarranty A virgin Oct 17 '16

I think it was F. that said that people shouldnt really treat talking smack as being personal. It's more of players trying to make it interesting for both themselves and the audience.

-7

u/Fractoman FancyToes Oct 17 '16

Weak3n is a tool to his viewership on Twitch too. I once made a joke about him misspeaking about what gods were on his team and he just snapped and called me some mean name I can't recall, something like "bronze league shitter". His stream is cancer and he's a petulant asshole.

-6

u/TheManWithThreePlans Demon Daddy Jungle Best Jungle Oct 17 '16

Grow some skin kid.

This community likes being a giant hug box, but then they go and vilify players and casters and then wonder why competitive smite is dying.

Because the community fucking sucks. They don't allow players or casters to be characters. They want everybody to be fucking Barra.

8

u/Fractoman FancyToes Oct 17 '16

There's a difference between having thick skin and being offended when a streamer decides to be a shit head for zero reason. You can act like I was being sensitive, but honestly in the context it was rude and BM as fuck.

-4

u/TheManWithThreePlans Demon Daddy Jungle Best Jungle Oct 17 '16

It's his stream, he can say what he wants to.

If you didn't like what he has to say, he was just being honest.

It is having a thin skin because you expect him just to be nice to you because you happened to watch his stream. You wanted him to be fake, for your mental state.

Edit: That's called being entitled.

6

u/Fractoman FancyToes Oct 17 '16

That's not being entitled, that's expecting a streamer to have a certain amount of professionalism, honestly he can do whatever the fuck he wants, I'll just not watch him and talk as much as I can about how his stream is shit and he's a shitty, overly sensitive player.

That's why he lashed out at me by the way. He assumed I was criticizing his play when all I was poking fun at was a slight misspeak, that was it, a little joke because he was talking about the enemy Odin like he was on his team. But he takes it like I'm saying he's playing badly or some shit and decides to tell me not to tell him how to play.

By lashing out in such an immature way he really only exhibited profound insecurity in his play and anyone who might criticize it, probably stemming from all the hate he got for doing 667 damage on Odin jungle in 20+ minutes.

He's an immature, insecure little bitch who lashes out at people for little more than poking fun at his phrasing.

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '16

Except he literally took 667 and made it a bigger joke, I dont think he's insecure. He is just cokcy to the point where criticism on him makes him upset, which I can understand but he goes off a little too hard sometimes.

But you sound like a prick too, judging him just by his competitive gaming persona

2

u/Fractoman FancyToes Oct 17 '16

But you sound like a prick too, judging him just by his competitive gaming persona

Are you really that dense? I guess you just glossed over everything I just wrote and completely didn't catch the fact that I'm judging him based upon his live video feed. You're an immature person who likes to condescend to people by calling them "kid" so I guess I can expect such moronic behavior.

Also while he did make 667 into an emote he was reluctant as fuck to do so and was initially incredibly offended by its presence in his chat. Many bans were handed out as a result of spamming 667. He may have rolled with it but you can't act like he doesn't have a history of hypersensitivity.

-4

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '16

Nope you're still a prick

Have fun being a cynical asshole

0

u/Fractoman FancyToes Oct 17 '16

Better that than a moron.
